My uncle is so good at bargaining that I rarely see him give police or soldiers money at check points even when they are expecting something. This is in sharp contrast to my father who gives them small something so as to continue his journey.

Life never happened to you and pray it doesn't because if it does, you'll not only bargain, you'll beg those market women. There's nothing wrong with bargaining for price though some people do it as if there's something else involved.

If I come your Shop to buy food stuff. If I didn't end up buying it at the cost price or a little above the cost price I won't be a happy man. I must price like 5 different shops before I finally buy from one person.

This is just me, no matter how ignorant I am towards the price of the product I'll still compare other prices before going for the right one.

even as a bachelor I see a lot of one sided thinking people try to talk down on me… but as a typical me. Who cares?
In business or in life you will definitely need the skill of bargaining, I have met a few business people that in my capacity I can call them great financially … there Bargain.

Please have a change of perception , if not for you for the sake of a possible place in the future … there is a known fact that most Africans don’t properly Bargain interest rate on loans they seek from international organization…. Oh! These are two different things right?
No there are not.
It is your money … it is your resources… when the option is open you can make use of it… there is nothing shameful or inhuman .
Even in places where you think there is no room for bargaining … there is a chance to speak up to get a better deal.

My mother will price 1 Naira pepper to 10 kobo, then when the malas at Mile 12 tell her to just steal it, she will tell them how her 12 year old son will beat all the malas in Mile 12.

This was me when I was a teen, anytime I am sent to buy something from the market I dont price because of shyness, but now ehh, no reason am I no mind to check up to 4 shops to compare prices, shame on top my money again, I don't understand

What's there to feel embarrassed about.

I don't know how to haggle prices and avoid it as much as I can. During my undergraduate days, I used to think I was doing great because I try to think about prices from a Lagos perspective. A friend followed me one day and a piece of fish that I buy for N30 he priced it for N10. Since then, I will tell him in class if I need go to the market. He was sometimes pissed because he thought I was wasteful since I buy so much and I go to the market frequently.

I don't think it is because I am shy because I am reserved and not shy. I think most times for me, it comes from a place of empathy perhaps, because I feel they are going through much stress selling under the sun.

At some point, I wouldn't buy things for my younger sister when I started working because anything I buy is always too expensive in her opinion because I do not haggle prices.

That said, haggling is different from bargaining. I can bargain for a fair income because there is an industry standard and average which usually is my start point and I put my reasonable percent above it.
