Racoon: Fellow compatriots this is indeed a good thing to learn. I really appreciate the OP.. However, perhaps I shouldn't say this but what choice do I have? I will like the man/woman who post these information to kindly differentiate between the names or reflective attributes of God in Calabar(Efik) and in Ibibio. If an Ibibio man pray in His dialect , will the Efik man say He does not understand? What is calabar? Is it the name of a tribe or person's? What is wrong with these people? Please spot out the major differences there for me or else you just have to stop dividing brothers apart. Thank you. NB In Ibibio group of languages which comprises of Ibibio, annang, Efik, Oro and others, please which one of us addresses God as Osa Nnudazi? Mbok help me!! 2 Likes 1 Share |

All those mentioned are not names of God but attributes or titles. Name of God means: Jehovah,Yaweh, olodumare,Chukwu, Osanobua etc. 1 Like |

Everyday247:They are Ubangiji for example is a name of a pre Islamic hausa deity, tho no records of him remains. Now the word has a different meaning which is 'supreme being'. Even so Northern Islamic clerics recommend not using the word to refer to Allah because of its pegan origins. 1 Like |

bizzibodi:I've seen you put in such enourmous effort just to prove no point at all. Jehovah and Yahweh are the your native dialect ? If you remember to include Chukwu and Olodumare and osanobua, it means you've arrived and others cease to exist to you and other tribes have no means of referring to God in their own tongues. You see your self? Edidem ndisime 1 Like |

emerged01: Whether christian or Muslim or what. Arabic is a native language to a certain group of persona somewhere in the Levant and also across various lands which serves as an extension to it. However, Allah is God in Arabic first to the native speaker primarily before the issue of religious affiliations comes in. I hope you get and stop dragging. 1 Like |

All these are titles due to what he's capable to do especially from yoruba christians. The yoruba name of God is "Olohun" not even "Olorun" or "Olodumare". note, OLORUN means he who owns the heaven. but God is the owner of earth and heaven. OLODUMARE means olodu omo are i.e "olodu" the son of "are". God was not born by anybody, he is supreme being hence not for God. OLOHUN means oni~ohun i.e he who is worth of worship. the creator who has right on his creatures. OHUN IN YORUBA MEANS RIGHT HENCE OLOHUN. ORUN MEANS HEAVEN HENCE OLORUN. |

66spirit:You should have educated the person I quoted that said ,"Allah is a diety not God's name. I'm a Christian and I hate it when someone tries to bring up religion issues out of ignorance. That was the reason for my question because I know he is an ignorant Christian. |
