Enugu Rangers have won the NPFL for the eighth time.

Enugu Rangers have emerged as champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League for the eighth time. The Flying Antelopes won the NPFL crown after defeating Bendel Insurance 2-0 in Enugu on Sunday, on a day their closest rivals Remo Stars and Enyimba lost 2-1 respectively at Sunshine Stars and Sporting Lagos, News360 Nigeria reports.

Rangers shot into the lead in the 33rd minute courtesy of a goal by Augustine Kenechukwu. Chidiebere Nwobodo then sealed victory for the Flying Antelopes on 65 minutes.

In the other end, Remo Stars slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Sunshine Stars in Akure and Enyimba going down to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Enugu Rangers, whose last league triumph came in 2016, finished the day as champions of Nigeria for the eighth time

They are now one title win behind nine-time NPFL winners Enyimba.

With one match left to play, their closest opponent Remo stars can't catch up. Congrats to them. Wishing them a successful outing at CAF champions league, Enyimba can manage to grab the other CL ticket if they manage to win their next match with hopes that Remo stars drop points.

I want to use this opportunity to call on the NFF to place a 3-year ban on Victor Osimhien for not only disrespecting his coach, Finidi George, but also disrespecting and insulting Nigerians. Failure to do so, I will renounce my citizenship of this country.

Congrats to them.... NPFL is becoming very competitive, I remembered when kano pillers dey win am back to back...

Going forward if we are playing teams like Benin Republic or Togo... Home based players should be selected.... If we are playing European teams then select Europe based players..... Because ino still understand how Benin Republic go beat us...

Dem dey blame coach.... Abeg shey u need coach to beat Benin Republic ni?
