Those of you who do not know what civil servant get as salary should stop all these ignorant analysis that what can they do with just 62k basic salary. There are other allowances like transport, feeding, housing, child care, health allowance etc.
Labour unions know this.
My worry is what of masses that are not salary earners, who depends on daily hustle.
Let's us be considerate because things are not easy worldwide

Are you sure that 62k is the basic salary?
Because if it is then when you add all the allowances it would come up to above N100K.....
All of us can't be in the civil service.
So whatever the kind of daily hustle we are involved in we will pray we get clients that will be able to pay what is reasonable for the service been rendered and be mindful of our expenditure.
There are certain things we should buy in bulk once there's a lump sum so it lasts long pending when another lump sum comes handy. In all we thank God for every provision.

This Tinubu just called the bluff of labour and nigerians in general. We await NLC's response on this. This is a unilateral action by FG that will not go well.It is a bad precedent for democracy going forward. Government can comfortably pay at least 100k but choose not to.

The 62k is the minimum any worker would earn. If same applies to politicians (eg a SSA), after being prorated, assuming they’re on level 17, their monthly salaries would be closer to a million Naira monthly, maybe more

62k is not the salaries but the minimum anyone doing salary jobs can get even with pry six certification or nothing. So the political office holders salaries will be calculated based on the minimum wage of same 62k and it will push it higher due to Thier respective levels. fighting for minimum wage is not for NLC but all across board on monthly payroll. So why demanding for 250k as minimum cos of subsidy removal that puts fuel at 600/700. What will happen when fuel prices comes down soon to 300/350?
The truth is that many people do not understand the concept of the minimum wage.
When you see someone saying that the minimum wage that can not buy a bag of rice, I ask , has there been any period that the minimum wage could buy a bag of rice. How much was a bag of rice when the minimum wage was 18k, how much when it was 30k? That should not be the yardstick for determining what the wages should be.
Minimum wage is the least salary a worker should be placed on as monthly salary. That is a gate man who has no education should be collecting that. So the amount being requested by NLC is not realistic. There will be increments across board based on the workers level , what of the reactionary inflation that will follow, I think the 62k is not bad which is over 100% increase already. It will be better if the FG can push it to 75k so the least any state should pay won't be less that 60k

But Government can use all its resources to
Build a house worth 21billion for vice president.
Buy SUV worth billions for senators.
Pay senators 25-37 million monthly.
Pay chief justice of Nigeria 16million monthly. Etc.

Why can't this foolish politicians end the same 62k as minimum wage....?

When minimum wage was 18900, a bag of rice was around 7k. I can tell you're just growing up by that comment. You haven't been paying for stuff at all or you maybe just started recently. So I wonder how you can boldly speak on something you know nothing about.

Even as recently as 2016 after the cursed APC took over, and minimum wage was still 18k, a bag of foreign rice was still less than 15k, and I remember in Dec of 2015 when I was prepping to get married I bought the then Lake Rice (LASG partnership with Kebbi) for 10k, first time buying local and I remember it was quite dirty, but the 5k saved was something, and in Dec of 2016 I bought same lake rice for 12k, and that one was better picked, no dirt...by 2017 a bag in Bodija market still had not crossed 15k. When minimum wage was 30k in 2019, I still bought bag of rice till 2021 at less than 30k. It was at 32-35k from around 2022 and kept increasing consistently from then till date. I know all this cos I was paying the bills and had that responsibility since I concluded NYSC in 2011. I knew prices before then obviously, but I was paying for stuff with my own money since that time. You clearly don't even know prices, nor have responsibility for paying bills, na why.

Be quiet in these matters, you just outed yourself as what you really are, someone who hasn't been paying any bills, at least not in the last decade.

You are not making any sense dude. Yes I asked what they are doing with increased allocation. Is that bad? It is accountability and we deserve to know what percentage goes to each major sector. Civil workforce salary, infrastructures, executive etc.
But from the way you are sounding, it is like you know for sure that they can afford the N62k being proposed to them.
I wouldn't want to assume if I were in your shoes but confirm by demanding accountability to know what is available for rechannelling into N62k minimum wage implementation. Before you rant further, remember the 62k wage is multiplied by workforce of each state to arrive at a rough estimate of what can be afforded.

the logic of salary is not centerwd around meeting a workers need. It is about compensating the workforce for the overall effort, which in my humble opinion, is very low.
That bag of rice is more than the output of many govt workers from January to december every year of their lives.

Ajaero is not useless sir. He knows govt employment is not a must for all those workers. In my estimate, 65% can be sacked today and you and I wont be able to tell because they are not contributing but just earning.

The problem is how many of those workers can cover a bag of rice with their monthly effort. The battalion of LGA workers going to pickup their pay for doing nothing cant justify even a small bowl of rice talk less about a whole bag. The sensible thing to do is to separate the idlers from the workers before rewarding the workforce with any increase in pay. As it is now, ther are many workers in LGA and states who don't work but will get a raise if 62k goes through. That means the govt is just rewarding such people with oil money and printed money. Don't expect the SME sector to maintain prices if cash is pumped into the system through idlers again.

Ajaero is not in the country right now . He's currently toy attending an international Labour meeting in Switzerland and he's not back to the country yet. Someone is currently acting for him and the acting president may not have the full capacity to call for strike . Ajaero will decide what's next for the Nigerian workers when he returns from international engagement with other world labour leaders.
