Someone Digging His Septic Tank On My Fence by Malcolm21: 7:46pm On Jun 17
I kindly need advice on what I could do, because someone just bought a piece of land near me and before I could realize it he is already building his septic just on my fence. Even though it's on his land but it's posing a great risk to my structure. What should I do to stop this please. Is it possible to report this fellow to the authority

@ op, since your neighbor did not encroach on your land, you have no rights to challenge him where he chooses to locate his septic tank.

You have no right to tell him what to do on his own land.

Even when it poses danger. Just like someone building a poultry farm in a residential area.

Confront him.
If he doesn't change his plan, report to health authority in your area.

If the fence falls, na God go build am?

We have a neighbour that built soakaway close to the fence. Water from the soakaway keep seeping out to our own side and it is unpleasant.

We never alert the authorities because we want to sell the property.

Without being told, a reasonable landlord should not build soakaway or septic very close to the fence.

Building a septic tank is not the same as constructing a poultry facility.

When constructing the septic tank, remember that blocks and iron are used in the construction so it won't touch your fence directly.

Don't start unnecessary trouble with your neighbor over nothing

Don’t listen to the ignorant elements asking for pictures. They are uninformed mischief-makers looking to catch fun with serious issues so they have no constructive or positive advice for you.

Do a simple google search and find out the info for the building control agency or authority’ for your area.

Report what your neighbor is building and emphasize the words dangerous and hazardous to health.

If you are ready to ‘mobilize’ them, by sponsoring their transport and ‘refreshments’ , they will visits and put a stop to what your Neigbour is building if it is actually violating building regulations.

If what your Neigbour is building is safe and cannot constitute any danger to you then you have to let the issue go.

If in Lagos, for example, contact them below.

Have you ever lived next door to a poultry farm?

How many spetic tanks are not built close to the fence? OP, you are overreacting. It's not your property. You will get into legal, physical, or spiritual trouble over this issue if you don't back off. sad

Yours may not be close to your fence probably because you have more than enough space to site it within your compound. Mind your business oga or you will regret it. If them throw jazz enter your compound over this matter, nor talk say person for Nairaland nor warn you o. grin

The only place you can non violently persuade him to adjust is when the septic tank is close to your water borehole. The fence that separates two of you despite you erecting it now belongs to both of you. If anything happens to it tomorrow consequent of his actions he will be the one to take charge.
Please overlook him as any action taken now will be viewed as an enemy of progress. It is not the best way to welcome neighbor.
He might have chosen there based on the size of his land as choosing another position may bring it close to his borehole.

Remember he is your neighbor. Call his attention to it and the negative effect it can have on your own structure.
You can asses it together and if he isn't complying... Let him be. His structure is rightly on his land

So until the fence collapse and falls on him or the kids and causes serious injury or death?
