Africa is unique,in that no one will gladly speak the language of its neighbours as his official language.

There are too many minority languages in Nigeria for example, the same problem will still arise,were many tribes will be forced to speak the language of their bigger neighbours thereby loosing their own unique identity, foreign language is actually a safe choice.

The only reason we still speak those languages is because for an Igbo man to relate with an Hausa man or a Yoruba man, he would have to speak English. Igbo man to Igbo man, they speak Igbo, Yoruba man to a Yoruba man, they speak Yoruba
