Nigeria's problem is not minimum wage. Government must make it possible for people to go back to the farms. We are a disgrace to humanity for not being able to feed ourselves. A lot of Nigerians are ready to go back to the farm. Government must stop bokoham, banditory, kidnapping, yahoo yahoo, money laundering, illegal mining, excessive government spending and all other ills going on in the country. Infact, government should reduce salaries and make efforts to make Naira stronger.
Come force us go farm. Come reduce our salaries. Data is cheap for everyone to spew what's in their heads.

Frequent and sporadic increments in civil servants salaries is not a viable solution... what should be more pressing on the desk of any Nigerian President should be to retrace Naira forex value... I mean NGN1 = USD$1... then a living wage and sustainable revenue can be achieved...
Minimum wage review is a worldwide practice, not just here. Even those we're copying do it.

Those of you who do not know what civil servants get as salary should stop all these ignorant analysis, that what can they do with just 62k basic salary. I read and was told there are other allowances like transport, feeding, housing, employer's pension contribution, child care, health allowance etc. (except if what I read or been told is a lie sha)
Labour unions know this.
My worry is what of the masses that are not salary earners, who depends on daily hustles. And the impact on the economy as soon as the minimum wage is announced. ( I pray it will not affect the economy negatively in Jesus name.
Let's us be considerate because things are not easy worldwide
Of course 62k doesn't mean you're taking home just 62k at the end of the month. There are other allowances added to it.

Are you sure that 62k is the basic salary?
Because if it is then when you add all the allowances it would come up to above N100K.....
All of us can't be in the civil service.
So whatever the kind of daily hustle we are involved in we will pray we get clients that will be able to pay what is reasonable for the service been rendered and be mindful of our expenditure.
There are certain things we should buy in bulk once there's a lump sum so it lasts long pending when another lump sum comes handy. In all we thank God for every provision.

I agree with every part of your submission.

62k minimum wage doesn't mean a worker is going home with just 62k at the end of the month. Other allowances are added. Don't mention.

100k can not even feed a bachelor talk less of a family
Which kain bachelor be that? Let's be realistic and frugal in spending here. How many people earn 100k in today's Nigeria?

You are not making any sense dude. Yes I asked what they are doing with increased allocation. Is that bad? It is accountability and we deserve to know what percentage goes to each major sector. Civil workforce salary, infrastructures, executive etc.
But from the way you are sounding, it is like you know for sure that they can afford the N62k being proposed to them.
I wouldn't want to assume if I were in your shoes but confirm by demanding accountability to know what is available for rechannelling into N62k minimum wage implementation. Before you rant further, remember the 62k wage is multiplied by workforce of each state to arrive at a rough estimate of what can be afforded.

You don't know if they can afford it but you're sure they can't pay 62k. Stop being clever by half. You can't ask people to hold govs accountable yet defend same govs from accountability. You can't have it both ways.
And what makes you think the whole workforce will be paid 62k. What kind of erroneous thinking is that? The 62k is for the least paid and it will reduce further as you move up the wage ladder in terms of consequential adjustment. You see why you should at least get the right info before rushing to defend heartless politicians?

holding govs accountable doest mean I cant come to their defence if I feel they are being unduly pressed or asked to do things.

Besides my question about state Gov that can afford the wage is just a question to that effect and not a pronoumcement that they cant.

HOW CAN YOU BE PAYING ME N30,000 WHEN A TIN OF MILK WAS N100 AND NOW A TIN OF MILK IS N600 AND YOU STILL WANT ME TO TAKE SAME AMOUNT.

A BAG OF TICE EAS N10000 THEN AND A BAG OF RICE IS N50,000 . EVERYTHING HAS QUADRUPLED AND YOU ARE STILL SAYING N62,000. IS IT FAIR? CIVIL SERVANTS HAVE DEPENDENTS PLEASE.

If you have that thinking cap of #62,000 is not too bad then you should be buying all commodities with their inflated rate without complaining cos I don't see any reasonable person saying such word with all the happenings in this country.
