Nigeria history: Nigerian officer cadets Arthur Unegbe and Alexander Madiebo were observed changing targets on the shooting range at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Sandhurst, Berkshire, England, on the 8th of March 1956.

Arthur Chinyelu Unegbe, a Nigerian military officer, held the position of QuarterMaster-General at Army Headquarters in Lagos on January 15, 1966, marking Nigeria's first coup.

Unegbe's military journey began in 1955 when he enlisted in the army, underwent training at Sandhurst, and received his commission a year later alongside Patrick Anwunah, Yakubu Gowon, Alexander Madiebo, and Mike Okwechime.

This was when merit and competency counts. Those who are worthy took their rightful place in the sand of times.

The colonial masters ensured merit counts to the letter
Only the most brilliant and academically sound goes to Sandhurst Military Academy( SMC) England where they spend about two(2) to earn the Queen's commission as second lieutenants. This was the case with Gowon, Alexander Madiebo, Maimalari, Nwawo, and host of others.

Meanwhile, others not deemed academic sound or fit are often sent to Mons Officers Cadet School Aldershot- England and other British military training institutions.

Everything was going on well until the born-to-rule feudal powermongers can't stand it anymore hence decided to start forcing the colonial master to introduce the skewed and defective quota system criteria to smuggle those who eventually bastardized the military and ended up do same to Nigeria's politico-military journey.

Col. Arthur Unegbe the Igbo officer who was killed in Lagos by Ademoyega, Ifeajuna and co. in the 'Igbo' coup.

GoodMen

Arthur Unaegbe a Senior military officer of Igbo extraction stood against the coupists when others fled. He refused access to the armory and was killed because of that. But they will tell you no Igbo man was killed in the coup and that the coup was an Igbo affair... A coup that has actors like lt. Olofimihan, col ademoyega, col banjo, and many more from north, west, east and midwest

Sometimes, having the heart to fight is more important that winning or losing

There are many who can't talk about winning or losing because they never had the heart to fight in the first place

Contribute to public discuss or knowledge. Nope! It is trolling una you are obsessed with. Are you satisfied with the bastardization of this nation for the past 64 years? No wonder you kind gave Nigeria the worst kind of leadership in Buhari and Tinubu

Fighting a war you are going to lose, losing 3 million of your brothers, sisters and offsprings along the way is very foolish.

Thats the thinking of slaves, for freedom is one of the few things in life worth fighting and dying for.

50 million people died in the second world war in the fight for freedom

Funny country.

The only Ibo casualty out of 22 that were killed in that senseless Ibo coup.

The Killing patterns - only one of the 22 casualties is of Igbo origin, while notable Igbo politicians like the Premier of Eastern region and military personnel like Ironsi were unharmed.
