Exactly.

We are both saying the same thing.

I was just reiterating raumdeuter's point. It is still the typical propensity for greed and one-upping that led to the example you gave there

there is a story i keep posting and deleting because it involved the ogas at the top of our recently liquidated bank. maybe i will post it one day after all the dust has finally settled.

What I'm saying is that ur subsidiary reports to the Group MD. The Group MD and the board can set the Logistics MD's KPI such that he will be expected to reduce to barest minimum the costs associated with running the subsidriary. Such savings in cost is definitely coming from saving diesel cost.

If the model is not working, why do u think more companies are embracing it?

Many companies embrace outsourcing their distribution because it saves a lot of headache.

Have you been to a Logistics yard before?

Apart from those in the offices, you have mechanics, Drivers, Rewires, Vulcanizers, Procurement stores, and others.

If you decided to run this yourself, you will have all these on your payroll, and will have to pay attention to all. That is why they easily find who will handle the headache.

Outsourcing doesn't mean it is cheap. The subsidiary you created for this will still pay all these people and buy parts..

How do u think logistics companies make profit ? Do u think they hire their staff from abroad?

I know a big time player in the logistics business; I mean a man who access bank facility, buys as much as 80 trucks for logistics business at a go and within 3 to 4 years he pays down on the facility. Different commercial banks literally chase after him to beg him with credit facility .

How do u think this man gets to make money carrying products for different multinationals? It is simply because he has been able to solve what u have highlighted up there as a major problem in logistics; theft of fuel by staff. I believe this is the reason some multinationals have decided to outsource logistics to logistics companies.

fact I have a friend who works in an indigenous oil and gas company. Their oga delibrately set-up a logistics company solely for handling logistics side of the business. When the MD of the logistics company's KPI is tied to they being profitable, let's see how the MD will open his eyes and watch staff steal fuel to sell na
My brother I don't know how they are making profit but believe you me theft is ongoing they just make enough revenue to cover the cost which in the long run may not be sustainable.

You are preaching to the choir bro. I work with a company that has a full fledged logistics team. On a personal level I've also dealt with logistics companies in the past.

I know there are complexities in their operations and that's why companies outsource these things. Now U won't outsource just becuase u want to transfer ur headache but u will ensure the outsourcing is economically advantageous on ur part.

Two mansions belonging to former Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien are reportedly set for auction following a court order from the Accra High Court.

The sale was ordered by the Deputy Sheriff of the High Court (Commercial Division) on June 12, 2024, following a recent court ruling against the former midfielder.

The Daily Guide reports that the properties are located at Stephen Quarshie Crescent, East Legon, House Number 9 and House Number 204/205, Trassaco (Phase 2), Adjiringano, all in Accra.

The report also mentioned that one of the properties is valued between $20 million and $30 million.

Essien’s current financial troubles are due to large loans he took from different banks and financial institutions in Ghana, according to Africa Soccer.

During his playing days, 41-year-old Essien played for top clubs such as Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Lyon.

Maybe a more better phrase, but if you say "Cheaper", i don't think so.

Even if you create a subsidiary for yourself, you have just shifted your problems to another address.

I agree it is economically advantageous

The crazy thing about this guy's story is that he cannot accuse village people for his ill-fortune.

I remember about 10 years or thereabouts his father called him out for not taking care of him in old age. The man was actually truthful enough to acknowledge the fact that he was a deadbeat father while Essien was younger. But still Africans felt Essien should at least try and do something for the man.

So today now he's broke but he can't blame family members like our guy Obodo, he can't put the blame on marital woes like Eboue, etc. Who will he now blame for this now ?

Financial illiteracy. You spend your formative years chasing a ball around a pitch, but no one takes the time to teach you how to manage the money you are paid for doing so.

This is a story as old as time for people who to quote Dayo and Ibime made their money when they were young and did not understand money.

This headline is misleading

https://www.nairaland.com/8129278/nigerian-woman-sharday-bakare-arrested

I don't think the headline is misleading; the lady was actually arrested and so was her boyfriend. Maybe the headline should've been " Sharday Bakare and her Bf Andrews arrested for murder of 2 year old son"..... But I don't know if nairaland topic limit will not be exhausted before the OP finish writing the topic sef

Dem no dey teach that one for school na. An average footballer has just like 15 years as number of years to hustle i.e if u go professional by 18, by time u are 33 ur career is as good as finished.

Any footballer that refuses to save for raining days within that period will surely see shege.

IHS go transfer that cost to the Telco!

Directly or indirectly, Diesel theft consequence dey touch person wey outsource

Lol. They usually have an independent vendor/contractor for diesel supply.

Sometimes, the FIeld service engineer (FSE) on site are guilty of diesel theft. lipsrsealed

But yes, anyone suspected for diesel theft is usually investigated, arrested or sacked in most cases.

Years back, i was on a team to design a solar powered system for MTN sites. John Holt was facilitating and financing it. We started and finished it at their HQ in VI

We finished the project but a lot of factors didn't let it see the light of day.

That was the first time i knew people were benefitting from Diesel supply/theft both legally and illegally

Things are not usually static in situations like that. The way u saw those anomalies/loopholes years ago, certainly other stakeholders saw it and may have blocked some of those loopholes to a reasonable extent.

It's not like people would still not be engaging in such sharp practices o, but certainly things would've been better.

It's just like Yahoo Yahoo; most of the ways those doing it use in making money in 2010 would certainly have been blocked now. It's only the few that have the current formats that will be making money now.

He is not saying anything we don't know. Abiola had a lot of wives and a lot of concubines.

He has obviously missed out on the bulk of the man's fortune and has now decided that soiling his fathers legacy for clout is the only way he can get back at Kola and co

This is also the legacy of polygamy.

This is the thing. The low level people involved in stealing become high level people in the same company. The company has records going back Years so it is in everyone's interest the records are not unearthed. Also the theft is at different levels. The field engineer steals from site. The oga at the top adds 500 litres to monthly consumption. Oga retires generator after 12 months and takes it to his house.

When you literally have a cabal from the top to the bottom of the company involved in this you have to decide if it is a fight you want to be involved in.

Kola Abiola did them bad jare.

I bet u haven't read Kola's interview about his father, June 12 and Tinubu grin. Kola literally called out Tinubu for begging Abacha for commissioner job under Abacha's government. (Well, that is by the way).

I think Kola being the guy closest to their Father and was of age gave him an advantage which most of his siblings feel he has used to his own selfish advantage while neglecting them.

I honestly don't know if Kola is being wicked or the rest of his siblings are being entitled. But that is the legacy of polygamy as u have rightly posited

It is very rarely that the pikin has the traits the dad used to build the empire in the first place. Abiolas drive came from a childhood in poverty. Kola was born to one of Nigerias richest men. It is a conundrum oyibos solved by giving handing the company to competent hands while giving the children controlling shares in the company. But that model cannot work here sha.

I am not sure there is anything left of Abiolas legacy as it is. I mean hafsat Abiola took a role as albino puss-y of kogis campaign dg.
