New Zealand’s prime minister was forced to take a commercial flight to Japan after his air force plane broke down while refuelling in Papua New Guinea, his office said Monday.

Christopher Luxon switched late Sunday to a scheduled flight from Port Moresby to Tokyo via Hong Kong because of a technical issue with the New Zealand Defence Force Boeing 757 aircraft he had been flying on.

A problem with a command module for a small flap on the wing meant the aircraft could not fly as high or as fast as normal, affecting its range, a defence spokesperson said.

It was detected while the plane was on the ground in Papua New Guinea.

A delegation of business leaders and journalists accompanying Luxon had to wait until Monday to fly on the air force 757 to Brisbane and then catch a commercial flight to Tokyo, the spokesperson said.

Luxon is expected to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during his four-day visit.

In March, the New Zealand leader had to fly commercial to Australia for meetings with Southeast Asian leaders after a problem with the landing gear grounded his defence force plane while still on the tarmac in Wellington.

A President of a country 1000 times better than Nigeria opted for commercial flight.

But the President of one big for nothing country still battling with inflation, citizens lacking calcium, using Cucumber for stew due to high cost of tomatoes is proposing for a new jet. Despite splashing billions of dollars on a house for a V.P that doesn't know his left from Right.

Dear Bayo Onanuga, did the New Zealand President die?

The annoying part of this whole New jet thing is that, this Lagos builder has a private jet that he used in flying to France on every Eke market day. Yet he doesn't want to use that his jet for any of his travels as President. Unless a new one is bought.

Yet they preach patience up and down from the citizens.. It's well!!

Ordinarily, this shouldn't happen with a presidential jet. This won't happen with POTUS or Israeli PM, it will be christened a catastrophe.

If is nigeria, the will urgently rent an expensive private jet just becus he is a african president of poverty and poor country.

if Tinubu cannot fly the current PJ then he should start using commercial flight.

This is what is called exemplary, responsible and role model leadership. Hope African leaders will learn from this example?

Mynd44:
What did you call it when President Tinubu flew commercial from Netherlands to Saudi Arabia in April? Sometimes don't rush to comment, calm down and digest I formation else you just look like someone who opposes for no reason
It is well known you are a Tinubu advocate here on this forum despite all his ills including his bastardization of this nation given his dirty past. However, that should not allow you not to see, know and tell the truth whenever you see it.

Tinubu is busy wasting this nation’s resources by flying a privatel jet, buying a presidential yatch and now the NASS is mooting the idea of buying him a new presidential jet without him speaking against it because his irresponsible govt approved a staggering amount of money to buy them foreign exotic SUVs while this nation continues to bleed in every respect.

The New Zealand PM flew a commercial airline just as the British PM often flies British Airways. However back here, Nigeria is unfortunate to have the most useless irresponsible set of wicked uncaring leaders. Don't let ethno-religious politics becloud your sound sense of judgement

Do you know that the president flew to South Africa in a commercial plane too because the two presidential jets are faulty?

So does this make President Tinubu Examplary, responsible and a role model?

But the Chicago drug lord wants a new plane.

And the money they used in building a mansion for the boko haram sympathizer and SUV for their wives would have been enough for two new planes.

MAYbe his country's opposition wants him dead too according to Onanuga's logic.

They will always find a way to justify luxury lifestyle Nigeria can't afford but will give a million reason why they can't afford to pay Labour a living wage or provide infrastructure for the citizens

Let's not forget the Vatican is a country and richer than Nigeria yet the pope flies commercial flight for all his travels

I wondered why the mod above is hell bent on defending failure.

New Zealand is 1million times better than Nigeria and yet their president flew a commercial airplane to Japan.

The VP's residence in Abuja was renovated with over 21b naira yet the fool lost his voice.

New Zealand, a working society knows what it means to cut cost

If na here na to buy new jet even someone's father was shouting, do you want the president to die like Iranian president, some old fools hear degrade your IQ if you keep listening to the trash they talk.

Once you quote me, you know the rest, mod watch out I warned them before now ooo

It is a thing of pity and sorrow that a whole mod had the mind to defend nonsense, though I know some rascals and hooligans may have been selected.
Please, look at what his president boarded which he called commercial flight, a dessault falcon 8x, compare it with the prime minister of New Zealand that actually entered their country's airline plane with other passengers.

Those niggas are ewedulised beasts.

What's the difference between flying commercial and flying a rented jet grin?

"Commercial jets refer to air travel that is available to the general public, typically provided by large airlines, and follow a set schedule and route. Private aircraft are owned or chartered by individuals or companies for private use, with no set schedule.".

Going by the foregoing, did president Tinubu fly commercial or did he fly a rented private aircraft?

How are they 1000 times better than Nigeria? I noticed that talk is cheap and utterances fly out here and there just because of likes. You should have passed your message across without denigrating

I don’t dispute the fact that New Zealand is better than Nigeria , but try and read very well and comprehend it , it says that the plane broke done in PAUPA NEW G hence the reason he was forced to fly commercial. Read it again now slowly
