Senegalese government is creating enabling environment for commercial Agriculture while Apc government is encouraging us to plant tomatoes and pepper in our backyards.

While also, Rep members are discussing whether cows are citizens of the country.

Senegal football star, Sadio Mane, has met with the country's Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, to share his agro-business ideas.

A photo showed the moment he met Prime Minister Sonko to submit project proposals about his ambitions to invest in the agro-industry.

After the meeting, Sonko disclosed that he encouraged the Teranga Lions' legend to invest in other areas of the economy. He said:

Hey there: stay informed and follow us on Google News!

"I encourage him in this direction and appeal to all Senegalese wishing to support the collective effort towards a better Senegal to come and invest in the structural transformation of our economy."
The prime minister also used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the nation, saying he would create an enabling environment to support national investors.

Sonko also commended the veteran's decision to offer free advertising to the national company, Air Senegal, through a display on the jerseys of the Bourges Foot 18 club.

According to Africa Top Sports, Mane was applauded for his personal efforts to the country's development by investing in Bambali, where he was born, and other nooks and crannies of Senegal.

Other countries are forging ahead into commercial Agriculture, for exports and FX earnings while Apc government and their agents are telling Nigerians in 2024 to leave the vast farm lands for bandits and herdsmen to start planting pepper and onions in their backyard.

Are we ready to progress in this country??

This Mane get sense abeg.

We need government to tackle insecurity and let people go back to their farms. Subsidize fertilizer, herbicides n insecticides for the farmers. Because, these important things i mentioned are damn.... expensive. If possible, let them empower private individuals to go into mechanized farming like this too.

If not, the way things are going, gaint of Africa will depend on Niger Republic, Senegal and Co for succor (food).

Nope! This nation is far away from it. The world has left the sleeping giant of Africa far behind.

The coming of the military dictators in Mali, Niger Republic, and Burkina Faso were indeed blessings to these nations though they are autocratic as military governments.

It's not even about the coming of military whatever...these people are determined to make food basic for their citizens.

We're not asking tinubu government for food, it's very simple. Provide adequate security for farmers to return back to their farmlands.

Nigerians are not lazy, we're hardworking, what we'll eat is never the problem.

Dangote is just one Nigerian, what is stopping you from becoming the biggest poultry farmer in West Africa? Impossible?
Sadio Manne is just one Senegalese, we have many star footballers in Nigeria.
And don't tell me they are all scared of Fulani herdsmen.

And food inflation keeps going higher everyday??

Are you going to overlook the damages caused by herdsmen and bandits killing farmers in their farm lands??

Why are the government influencers telling people to plant iroko trees in their backyard??

Look, if you're one of those bandits, nobody is afraid of you. But hand go touch you one day

Nobody is overlooking anything. Agriculture has been declining in Nigeria since the 70's it didn't start with the herdsmen, they only made it worse.
Also, we practice archaic agriculture. For a country or 200 million people we should have been more aggressive with mechanization.

You have a governor in your state, you have representatives in the national assembly and here you are pathetically helpless and starving to death because of herdsmen.
Now, clap for yourself.

Btw, you too no get state governor and representative?? Which one have you cultivated??

I asked you a question oo, who did it start with?

You are not being honest with this post.

What exactly is Senegal doing here that the Nigerian Government hasn't done? Note, when I said the Nigerian Government, I mean starting from the administration of Obasanjo to the current one.

@Racoon - You mentioned Senegal, Burkina, and Niger Republic Agricultural revolution. Put all 3 countries together, I can bet you their total farm output is less than what we have in Kano, Kaduna, and Niger States. A lot of our farm produce are smuggled through the Northern borders to countries like Chad and Niger. All these 3 countries you mentioned also have their security challenges. It's not peculiar to Nigeria alone. You can't blame the government for the citizens greed - the foods are smuggled by citizens like you and me. They are Nigerians too...

The Nigerian government has since time immemorial provided farm inputs to farmers for the sake of cultivating our farmlands. Unfortunately, our greed as citizens has overtaken our sense of reasoning. The inputs don't get to the real farmers. Even when it gets to the real farmers, some of the farmers think it wise to sell those same inputs at the market, instead of planting. Go to the market or any agro store, you will see those same free chemicals, fertilizers, etc. being sold openly. It's even stated on the bags that " THIS IS NOT FOR SALE". Do you still blame the government for that? Don't forget, the people in power/government are also one of us - They are citizens of Nigeria, just like you and me.

There has never been a time the Nigerian government advised its citizens to leave their farms. Stop spreading lies.

Yes, the government is responsible for the security and protection of its citizens, and to be honest, the government has failed woefully in this regard. But don't forget, farmers/herders clash has always been there since time immemorial, not now. The government should as a matter of urgency put in place a robust security arrangement to ensure our farmers are safe.

The problem I see here is GREED.

@Gerald, food inflation is actually 40.66, which is way too high.
