You can use your FRSC driving license to drive in Maryland. It's valid for 1 yr I think before you have to get the states driving license.

Please how do I claim my money now, I really don’t know what to do

The account is frozen now. Can I go to the bank and explain all these? Will they listen to me ??

The only way I see this working is if she designated you as a beneficiary to the account and when she opened it. If she didn't, you will most likely be turned away if you show up to the bank.

When you are about to come here, ensure you get an international driver. Though you can only use it to drive around for about a year, but know that you can not use it to work or even apply for jobs. It's just to drive around if there is a car available.

You will still have to go through their driving test both practical and theory to get licensed here.

Actually, a negative record in Chexsystem will stop most banks from approving new deposit accounts. A bank account can incur thousands in overdraft fees without overdraft protection being in place on the account.

Is your name on the ATM card or is it hers? The activity was suspicious—first, direct deposits should only be in the name of people listed on the account. Next, dead people do not receive deposits years after their deaths into accounts that are normally closed when they die. It’s surprising that none of the other activity prompted the bank to freeze the account. I’m sure the bank is in the process of investigating the card transactions made since her death. Permission to use the account expired upon her death and to the bank, it constitutes fraud.

As the previous poster said, unless you are named as a signer on the account, chalk up all that money you say is in the account as a loss. If you want a definite trip straight to jail, go to the bank and tell them that you continued using the account after the death of the account holder. Unless it was a joint account or you were designated as a signer on the account, it was rightfully supposed to be closed upon her death and the bank considers any use of the account as fraud.

First, what you’re doing is actually fraudulent and a breach of bank ethics and code of operation.


1. Why don’t you go and resolve the issue with ChexSystem? If you have been fraudulently overdrawing your account without paying back, you think it would only be written off as bad debt without any record being placed on you as a liability and not insurable?

2. You cannot access the funds and for banks to tag that account suspicious they would have placed a call to verify the transaction or close the account.


I’ll advise you to take some time and fix your financial situation. It is bad that you cannot open a bank account.
