They did not just ban the hijab but also the western style of dressing to protect their CULTURE! Someone up there posted a picture of their traditional clothing and it's very 'conservative.'

What Mary wore on her head isn't a hijab, it's a simple head covering. Christians don't veil in an extremist way like Muslims.
