Many People have evidence that Gen Ironsi was Part of the Jan 1966 Coup

That said Muritala Mohammed was also part of the July 1966 Coup but it was not Muritala that started the Coup Crisis

Gen Ironsi was the head of the Army and was responsible for Providing Security for those murdered by his Army boys

For example Brigadier Ademulegun's Security details were secretly changed in the Middle of the night without his knowledge

Only Gen Ironsi was Authorised to do that
That was the very honest bitter Truth.

Secondly Azikiwe went Abroad because he knew of the planned Coup
The British intelligence contacted Dr Azikiwe’s Doctors in the UK who confirmed there was
nothing wrong with Azikiwe and he was healthy enough to return to Nigeria, for the

Commonwealth Conference

After the Coup Azikiwe sent Gen Ironsi a Telegram from the British Colonial Office addressing Gen Ironsi as the Ruler of the Country before Ironsi had even taken over Power
It was after the Telegram was sent that the British Colonial Office corrected Azikiwe that Dipcherima from Borno was the head of the Rump Cabinet of Ministers and not Gen Ironsi

Thirdly after the Prime Minister was Kidnapped and Several People Killed Alhaji Ahmed Kurfi Went to the State House to see Gen Ironsi about the Missing Prime Minister
and found him at a meeting with Ifeajuna who had just killed Brigadier Maimailari and Prime Minister Balewa Present

Fourthly the Police had warned Gen Ironsi 2 weeks before about the Coup and had asked Gen Ironsi to arrest the officers planning the Coup because the police were not authorized to do so

Gen Ironsi took no action and it Later turned out that the 5 names given to Gen Ironsi including Ifeajuna Nzeogeu , Onwategwu were the core coup plotters

The Problem is that the North believes Gen Ironsi had a hand in the Murder of their Leaders because he took no action to save their lives when abundant evidence of a planned coup was presented to him

It is Propaganda that the evidence is speculation

Go and read the British Declassified Intelligence Files

Do you know that Gen Ironsi gave Major David Ejoor deputy at the Enugu Battalion orders to take over the Battalion because David Ejoor would not be returning to his post as it's commander?

It was only later in the morning that Gen Ironsi discovered that Ejoor was still alive only because he had slept in a different Hotel room from the one the Army had booked him in that same hotel

When Ejoor went to check his previous hotel room later it was Riddled with Bullets

The Coup plotters thought they had killed David Ejoor meanwhile he was fast asleep in a different Hotel room

Gen Ironsi was drinking Tea and Biscuits when major Ejoor walked into his office unscathed
Gen Ironsi couldn't conceal his shock on seeing him

I haven't seen or heard any proof of the alleged interview until today - can you produce another site?

Why on earth will Aguiyi Ironsi make David Ejoor commander of Mid-west region?

Why would he make Murtala Mohammed Chief of Signals of the armed forces?

Why will he make Gowon Chief of Army Staff?

Why will he make TY Danjuma his personal scribe and the head of his personal guard?

Why will he station the 4th Battalion (a northern dominated army close to Lagos)...

For a tribalist who wants to kill and dominate everybody he seemed to be making the reverse steps.

Murtala was an illegitimate head of state like Gowon, Abacha,IBB. Infact all military heads of state were illegitimate and as such should be stripped of all titles and benefits!
gidgiddy:
When Obasanjo was military dictator in the 70's, he put the face of General Murtala Mohammed on the 20 Naira note. This was a huge error because Murtala Mohammed is not a role model for anyone. He was a murderous coup plotter, war criminal and military dictator. There was nothing positive about the man

How do you put Murtala Mohammed alongside the likes of Herbert Macaulay, Zik, Awolowo and Sarduana?

When Obasanjo returned as civilian, he had the opportunity to correct this national embarrassment of putting Murtala Mohammed on the N20 note. Obasanjo introduced the N200 and N500 and put eminently qualified people on it. He had the power to remove Murtala from the N20 Naira, but did not

Obasanjo needs to tender an apology for not correcting the mistake he made.

So why did the police not report to Balewa as the commander in chief instead of Ironsi?

The SW cleverly reewrite the story to absorbed the fact that the unrest in the wild wild west led to the coup

When Ironsi was killed, how come Awolowo agreed with Gowon to balkanize the regions to 12 states?

How old were Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu? Less than 30yrs. You can't blame the wrong trajectory of a country for 58yrs by the actions of very young soldiers.

In present day Nigeria, what do 30yrs old boys do? Chase women and do yahoo yahoo.

In 1973, Gowon said we do not have revenue problem but spending problems meaning money was not an issue. Did they develop Nigeria? Absolutely no!

Most Nigerian policies are designed to keep Igbos down because they know if they put merit, Igbos would take over 50% of everything and thats why Nigeria continues to fall

Forefathers? Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu were less than 30yrs old.

You can't blame the failures of Nigeria on them. They didnt plan the coup from nowhere,
the political class were corrupt and causing massive unrest.

Do you know how many presidents and heads of states we've had since then?

When democracy was returned in 1979, why did Buhari overthrow a democratically elected government? Did you not reward Buhari?

So the next piece of propaganda is to excuse the lopsided killings of military and political leaders of other tribes while wickedly sparing all the leaders of your own tribe on Ifeajuna and Nzeogwus age??
What will we not see from these people?
So the fact that Soldiers like Ademulegun and his pregnantwife,Pam,Largema, Maimailari were brutally slaughtered by savages should be excused on their ages??
What kind of warped reasoning is this??
Okotie Eboh,Akintola, Balewa, the Sardauna and his wife were slaughtered and you excuse such a heinous crime on their ages??
Then in a duplicitous manner Azikiwe, Okpara,Ironsi and Ojukwu from the Ibo tribe were spared?

The Ibo should learn that actions have consequences and you can't go around killing leaders of other tribes gleefully while sparing your own leaders and not expect a reaction......

Just listen to the callous way Nzeogwu tells the story of how he killed the Sardauna and his wife......

Benjamin Adekunle was 28 years old when he commanded the 3rd Marine Commando

They always try to call him a War Criminal

They never excuse him because of his age
Neither do they excuse Gowon who was 32 years old when the War Started

Danjuma and Muritala Mohammed were 28 years during the revenge Coup

They have never excused them because of their age

That's because your Ibo coup plotters were daft and stupid to even think they could pull that shit off.

Ejoor was the one that recalled how he narrowly escaped being assassinated on Jan 15.

Ejoor will return to Enugu to brief the majority northern NCOs and what had happened

When Ejoor returned to Enugu , his Ibo deputising commander thought he was seeing a ghost.

Attempts were made through the Ibo head of the Police in Enugu to have Ejoor arrested but Ejoor being the smart Urhobo man with nine lives quickly slipped out of town. Already , mutiny amongst the northern troops was building up.

Ejoor, surviving the assassination of Jan 15 was the one who convinced the northern officers that the coup was an ethnic cleansing agenda.

Let's delve into Ejoor's brief but tense tenure as military governor of old Midwestern region and how Ojukwu ordered turncoat Bendel Ibo officers to arrest or murder Ejoor.

Ejoor found about this and had the armoury secured after hearing of Bendel Ibo officers planning to kill him on behest of Ojukwu.

What about the invasion of Midwest which was quickly followed by orders from Ojukwu to have Ejoor captured dead or alive.

Ejoor survived a gun fight by a combination of Biafran soldiers and mutinous Bendel Ibo troops who stormed his official residence to kill him but he miraculously slipped away and headed south to Warri and from there through the creeks returned to Lagos.

All these are accounts from Ejoor.

Cc: Mynd44, Fergie001, please look into this.

We are talking about a war chosen by igbos themselves. What if Murtala himself had died in the war. Mind you, it is a 50/50 thing. You people complain as if no other tribes died in the war. You are not the only losers in the war. I lost brothers as soldiers and those conscripted to fight in the war. A man's , in my town, had his Mercedes 911 or so vehicle forcefully taken from him to convey conscripted young men to war front . His offence, a forceful patriotism by the military to keep a united nation. The man had borrowed to buy the vehicle for his business. It was never to be recovered from the army. Many of the conscripted never returned.

So friends, stop Lamentations. Look for a brighter future. Your withdrawal from Nigerian's mainstream politics cannot work. Align rightly to Nigeria. If you go to war again, worse things will happen. We are here together. As you are doing well in business, use same for politics and stop abusing everyone.

Don't mind him. All the ordeal igbos went through was because of their miscalculations. Three people championed agitation for independence. Awolowo suggested, secession clause, Zik opposed it with all his strength. Six years later, they needed the clause to leave. Nigeria was not willing to release them. Awolowo gave FG a condition that if you allow igbos to leave, Yorubas will leave automatically. Is that what is called betrayal. Foolish people everywhere.

The reason Azikiwe and Enugu championed the invoibility of Nigeria was simply because they had plans to dominate the polity either through legislative means or a future coup.

Azikiwe s tendencies showed he had Marxist leanings and this was what led to the misguided Marxist movement known as the Zikist.

Azikiwe even secured an OAU charter amongst it's earliest members at its first ever inuagural assembly pledging all member states to recognise each other's colonial handed down borders as sacrosanct. This is one of the reasons why hardly any OAU member recognised their rogue Biafra.

The idiots keep shooting themselves on their foot.

You are not sincere. Igbos kangaroo soldiers were using civilians as human shield the same way HAMAS is doing in Palestine. So, what do you expect? In war, chaos rules, wickedness rules, there are no sane rules of warfare anywhere.

Murtala is Nigerian's hero, putting his life on the line to unite Nigeria.
What exactly is the contribution of Ojukwu to deserve a national honour? He is a secessionist. A traitor to Nigerian project. A rebel.
Without the foolishness of the two patriarchs ( Zik and Ojukwu), Igbo nation would not be suffering what they are suffering today. You their offsprings, reading wrong pages of history, are complicating issues. Awolowo had a problem with the whole situation. He had to chose playing opposition. He did that by massive educational campaign. It pays off. After the war, igbos face business. Power is stronger than money. Hausa chose that. Education can fight what money can't fight. Have you thought about it? Obasanjo and Falae were fielded in 1999 election. Two people from the same tribe. Either way, a Yoruba man would be president. The choice lied in there hands.
I still maintain my stand. I dont hate igbos. Educate your people to zealously align with Nigeria. If you are not there where decisions are made. You will be forever be complaining.
If Yorubas are interested in leaving the country today, it will not take long time.
