I will explain further:

In buildup, Maresca's striker is allowed to drop deep and overload the middle, attacking number 8 [could be Palmer] is allowed to advance further than the deep 9 [making off the ball run or third-man].

In theory, the striker and attacking number 8 can swap positions. So, we are likely to see Nkunku falling mostly on the left and Palmer on the right, working like split forwards. Palmer has more legs to cover ground behind Nkunku.

Off the ball, the number 9 and advanced 8 defend horizontally as a pair. So, when they recover the ball, the number 9 and 8 are the most advanced players, at times it's the wide players.

But the point I'm trying to make is that Nkunku will mostly play off the left in both phases of the game and not central, without being isolated upfront. Nkunku on the left and Palmer on the right upfront or in the pockets suit both players.

This is exactly how I expect Jonathan David to play and Jackson too. And why I think David is too similar to the profiles we already have.
