Hon. Johnson Adamu Leads Etsako East LGA Vice Chairman, Ward Executives, Others To Resign From PDP

Hon. Johnson Adamu, a prominent young chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, has led a mass defection of party executives from the PDP in Edo State.

According to letters cited, Hon. Adamu, who has been a strong voice of the party in the last decade and leader of Ward 9, resigned his membership of the PDP alongside the Vice Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area, entire ward 9 executives, and several other party loyalists loyal to him.

The defection is seen as a significant blow to the PDP in the state, as Hon. Adamu is widely respected and has a large following among young people in the party within and outside Edo State.

According to the letters, the reason for mass resignation centred on disagreements with the government and party leadership over issues of governance and internal democracy. The former members accused the governor of the state of promoting godfatherism that is not in line with their principles.

The development is expected to have far-reaching implications for the party in Etsako East as it prepares for the September 21 Governorship poll.

In the past months, PDP has witnessed mass exodus of its younger members due to what they describe as lack of direction in the Party. Worse hit by the wave of defection is Edo State chapter where many of its members are leaving in mass.

Edo State Elections will be a very tight race..

PDP should normally win this elections...but, I am sensing LP votes will affect more of PDP than APC.

APC may narrowly win this...unless the LP doesn't pose any threat to PDP's voting base.

All baseless reasons. You Nigerians are very shortsighted people. Everything you listed there is crap.
Obaseki is not contesting, Asue Ighodalo is the person contesting and the only thing you have against him is language.
Tomorrow you will be the ones to cry about terrible economy.
Oshiomhole that could speak language very well used Edo money to build a mansion in Iyamho and a private university for himself.
Rather than focus on what the candidates are saying and judge them on the basis of their intelligence, you are here giving flimsy reasons

The PDP is doomed in that election! Along with numerous defections, it has a weak central structure. The party's final downfall will be in 2027. Anyone who thinks Atiku will win in 2027 is delusional. The PDP is a fractured party, and some of its members are even openly supporting President Tinubu. After the 2027 elections, Tinubu will confine the PDP to the dustbin of history. A new opposition party must rise from the remnants of the PDP. Unfortunately, the PDP, with its conservative ideology, has only recently started playing the opposition role in Nigeria. They are not yet skilled at it, unlike the progressives who played the opposition in the first, second, and even the current republic until Buhari won elections for them in 2015 and 2019.

You are very correct.
But the major reason is that, Obaseki spent 8 years as Governor without doing anything in Edo. While his mates in other States are commissioning projects upland, Obaseki was busy fighting everyone in Edo

APC will win with a wide margin. LP will come next. But PDP won't get up to 10k votes. No one's likes Obaseki in Edo South (where he comes from) . Remember, Obaseki didn't win his pooling unit in all the elections that took place last year.
