Aside insecurity, I believe Lagos is the worst. Overpopulation in Lagos has ripple effect which include but not limited to traffic congestion, noise, expensive rent for slum like houses, expensive transportation.

A peek into the life of an average blue collar employee will reveal this. From waking up abnormally early to beat the traffic, to spending hours on traffic only to return home very late and expected to wake up very early again. There salary is meager and they can't afford to live close to their offices. They resort to staying in rickety apartments in Igando, Idimu, Ayobo.

Their contemporaries earning the same salary and living in other cities live twice better than them. With the same salary, they can live in good apartment relatively closer to their place of work and spend significantly lesser time on the road. As cherry on the top, they have better savings too.

Most employees prefer taking 10% to 20 % pay cut to be transferred to another city. This goes a long way to buttress my point.

This is strictly comparing Lagos to other cities, not villages.
There's a reason topics like "Will you rather earn X in Lagos than earn Y in PH/Kaduna" comes up every eke market day...nobody really wants to be in Lagos, but the opportunities are here hence we remain.

Then maybe the other states Governors should bring investment and opportunities to their state so that the population of Lagos can reduce.

there is a reason they are paying that amount or earn that amount in Lagos in the first place. Its like saying if I can earn what I earn in Silicon valley inside Alabama, or Ogbomoso"

Why are the opportunities in Lagos and not elsewhere? Why do the opportunities refuse to leave this unlivable Tinubu Lagos and the opportunities keep increasing in Lagos and reducing in Kaduna/PH in the same time frame?

.....Theflint1, pls watch Dangote's recent interview on his Refinery. He wanted to build it in Rivers State but Ọmọ Onilẹ and State Government wahala made him to lose interest n the State.

He thought of Ondo and Ogun, their Governors' greediness push him to Lagos. Opportunities do come to other States too, but because none of their ex-governors is Tinubu, hence are failing to maximizing the opportunities, rather losing it.

Don't believe what he says. Remember what Yahya Bello did to him in Kogi state.
Right before you start erecting structures or clearing land sef, there would be a quota of indigenous employees you will take and in certain positions.

There is a particular reason why he decided to settle for Lagos and it has nothing to do with states demands

Prices of houses and rent are equally expensive in other major cities.

You cant compare rent in London to rent in Nottingham, they are both in the UK but the rent differs greatly.

Same way you cant compare rent in New York or San Francisco to rent in New Jersey.

It's a simple economics principle, if demand is higher than supply, price will increase.

In 18, 19, houses were cheaper in Ikorodu but the moment people started moving to Ikorodu in large numbers mostly due to the low house rent, the house rent is now increasing at an alarming rate.

As long as Lagos continue to have high influx of people into the state with its tiny land mass, no infrastructure will keep up with it.

The Lagos that was capital for so long no see development pass Ikeja, Lagos Island and VI, No?

Before Tinubu, vi effectively ended at ozumba mbadiwe. And ozumba mbadiwe was a precarious one lane road.

After wetin Dangote see for Yahaya Bello hand, he to think twice before investing in the state going forward, other investor sef will use Dangote as example.

If this can happen to Dangote, who then can it not happen to.

Most of these Governors dont know they are using their own short sightedness to rob the State of investment opportunities, future potential jobs and revenue by the actions they take.

They will then be wondering why all the investment is going to Lagos.

So why are other states who get more income per head not economically viable enough to ease the pressure on Lagos

Now look at what Lekki has turned to today. The kind of rapid development that has happened there in less than 15yrs.

If it was some other state Governors, water would've washed away all those part of Lagos.

Why will they care?
The said governor sef has his main house and major investment in Lagos, While in power he sends half his time in lagos
His state citizens who should be holding him responsible have all headed to Lagos
Those who have not left are depending on the ones in Lagos to send money monthly for upkeep
When he is campaigning his own reference point will also be Lagos
The state indigenes instead of focusing on him and his failures will still blame Lagos

Almost all the Senators and HoR from all over Nigeria especially Southern Nigeria after thy collect their loot, they take that money to buy real estate in Lagos

The controversial bill that caused Kenyans to protest has been withdrawn , this would have not been possible of the people weren't united.

But naija just pitch one tribe against the other, you go scatter protest within days.

People who lost their lives during this protest was not in vain.

lastly Bleep IMF.

British gave Calabar PH and Lagos ports which you said is the main driver about the same time. All over 100yrs ago, why have Calabar and PH not rivalled Lagos and taken away the population

Houses are more expensive in Lagos when compared with PH for example.

500k can get you a palatial mini flat in PH with gate man in the compound.

The real question is this.

Is LASG doing enough with the money they are making to match the economic activity in Lagos?
