Please, Lagos is the most expensive mostly because of the large number of people present in a very small area of land. Like you correctly pointed, high depend equals high prices.

Aside rent and transportation which is greatly affected by population, most other things are cheaper in Lagos. I am certain that food is cheaper in Lagos compared to most states. Example, Bread (measured per 100g) , Noodles, Beef, milk etc.

Other things too like house hold appliances, building materials, clothes, fabric etc are cheaper in Lagos.

If you wanted to have a rational conversation, you would start by first realizing that Lagos was always ahead of other states due to the presence of the British colonial masters who headed our government for nearly 5 decades, and subsequently the republican government.

I don't know how to classify your opinion when you compare a city that has been Nigeria's capital up until 1991 to PH and Calabar. Even Abuja that became the capital yesterday, can any city in Nigeria aside Lagos match its might??

But the fact that they can do alot better is what frustrates alot of people. To make it worse we know they can do better even without actually knowing the financial books.. Now imagine if we had a proper idea about the monetary workings of Lagos.

The only part of Lagos that was FCT was Lagos Island up till Obalende every other part of Lagos was under Western region.

Bros I have stayed in Osun for like 4yrs, lived in Ogun for some years and visited Ekiti and Ibadan and I can tell you that food is expensive in Lagos than all these SW states. I did my NYSC in Ebonyi, food was still cheaper there than in Lagos.

It's the things that are imported that are less expensive in Lagos compared to other states being that transportation will be added to those items. It's the same reason why food is expensive in Lagos because of transportation to bring it to Lagos.
