They can respond by leaving office.... grin grin..u cant be inflicting hardship on pple just because u can...and expect them to be looking....African leaders don't have shame.....

They should not forget how Egyptian masses chased their leaders out of office in 2011, even with all the military that used armored tanks to crush protesters.....

The military later became tired and decided to align with the protesters

This guy was once praised as one of the best presidents in Africa. What a sad turn

Alas a bitter reminder that politicians are never to be trusted. They won't hesitate to waste the lives of people just to have their way.

RIP to the fallen.

Obidients used him last year as yardstick for a new Africa as he defeated the incumbent, then placed him on a high pedestal , what they fail to realise is winning an election is 1 thing , governing is totally different as you will meet reality when you resume office of what your country ìs really worth, beautiful speeches won't pay workers salary or loans or balance budget deficit .

The other president in Argentina they used to mock tinubu and apc is struggling seriously.... let them keep deceiving themselves Obi will do differently.

Was it in Africa that violent "protesters" stormed the US Capitol in commando style to insist that an election loser must be declared the victor, and were neutralised by the security forces?

The person you replied never said Africa is the only place riots and protests take place. They simply asked if our dear continent will ever be free of this apparent leadership issues. And you quickly went to bring pictures of people rioting abroad? How does that answer his question?

∆ You didn't answer my questions. However, the weapon you say Nigerians have that is not being used is simply because patriotism is zero. Everybody, including you and me, is out to grab from the center when given the opportunity. Anybody in power is considered as his turn to chop.
∆ Inasmuch as your points are valid, but the fundamental problem is that nobody believes in ONE NIGERIA.
∆ Look at all the nations in Europe. They all have one national identity. Imagine if Italians, Portuguese, English were lumped together as one Country.
Or if Israel & Iran were joined as one country.

Or imagine as a businessman, being forced into partnership with another businessman.
At best, both of you will try to forge ahead, but if that doesn't work, it's either you renegotiate the terms of business or you go your separate ways.

Honestly speaking, I don't see Nigeria making any meaningful progress as a Nation under the present dispensation.
You may think otherwise. undecided
The lack of use of that weapon has more to do with what I suspect is a sense of learned hopelessness and general ignorance than it has to do with lack of patriotism. I mean consider the problems people experience at the local government level where the average person generally know these LGA councilmen and their movements. Are you wanting me to believe that the reason people refuse to stand up against these men who rob them blind right in their korokoro has to do with lack of patriotism? Come on naw! undecided

2. I don't give a sheet about one Nigeria either but that is no reason why I should allow the LG councilman who was only yesterday begging for our votes right in our neighborhood to now deprive us our share of money which could not only better our lives in the community but also help make sure our kids get a better life. undecided

3. The reason those countries have national identity has to do with the fact that the people band together starting at the local level and that filters up to the national level. None of that happens in Nigeria, and Nigeria is no much different from Kenya that we see today. undecided

This is what I've been discussing with people in my immediate environment.
We need to spread this idea and strongly advocate it. Until the masses come to know that this actually is their power over these politicians, they will be taking the masses for a ride.
Please keep discussing it
It is indeed time for people to take back their mandate abeg and begin to get back at these Politrick-tians. Once they are recalled, they should be immediately Prosecuted for every crime committee against the people too.

This is an example of a people that wont allow its government to take them for granted. Taxation must come with reasonable justification, better representation, and significant results in the quality of life of the people being taxed. Lawmakers, executives, bureaucrats, and the judiciary cannot be living large corruptly, while the citizens wallow in abject poverty and wade through swamps of difficulties. Nigeria has one of the worst cases of taxation without equal rights and better life for all.

In your attempt to bastardized the Nigeria system, you failed woefully.

First tell me:-

What the percentage of people that actually pay taxes in Nigeria?

How many firms pays the actual tax without back peddle the actual profit before tax?

Stop talking about things you have little or no knowledge of just because you want to criticize your government.

Oga ..pple and businesses are paying taxes..especially large business to small shop owners......don't let government deceive u..... embezzlement is the problem.... If u have pple that work in banks as how many tax companies pay income tax, withholding, vat, education tax.... They still pay land use charge again.... My personal person works there

If u know how much the government rakes in from ordinary land use charge, u will be shocked...and it is effectively enforced by locking of business premises with heavy chain and padlock........... The likes of redeem and winners chapel pay as much as 2 billion naira .... But they pretend churches pay nothing in tax

Kenyans pushed their way into freedom from overtaxation. Imagine he wanted to tax cancer patients, sanitary towels, baby diapers, bread etc. He’s had a change of heart after people showed him pepper yesterday. As for the members of parliament who had signed that bill trying to pass it into law, we shall not forget. 2027, we meet at the ballot. Ruto has finally erased that bill.

Well, their homes & properties were destroyed yesterday. Some were caught being driven out of parliament in an ambulance & received a good beating. To be realistic, I’d say 2027.

The Recall makes a whole load of sense after it all. We are talking here of people who blatantly violated the mandate given them by the people to vote in favor of the will of the people. No point having them remain in office after all of that. undecided

thr requirement is to gather signatures from at least half+1 of the voters in your specific electoral area. And yes, it is what people in parliamentary and Democratic communities do, their civic duty. You don't simply say, "oh, he rigged himself into office so it is over," No! You can cast a vote of "no confidence" to have them recalled in that case, something Nigerians ought to be doing a lot of but haven't been doing any of. undecided

We adopted Democracy but forgot to provide necessary Civic Education to the masses in Nigeria. LOok at how educated Kenyan children are of their place in a democracy, but see the average Nigerian has nearly no clue where his place and responsibility is in his own democracy. Mass education is necessary in this! undecided

Agbado man, U are very naive...did U actually think institutions are what keeps a society together?.

Well, news flash, Institutions & government ONLY WORK BECAUSE they people allow them to WORK...What's the population of the entire security forces of Kenya & the politicians sef?...They would all eventually back off if the people refused to stand down!!

Which brings to Nigerian issue, APC should really be careful not to put us in worst shyt, The overwhelming corruption, unemployment, inflation & the arrogant attitude is a recipe for disaster!...Once people lose hope, nothing can stop them, cause they already have nothing to loose

You are delusional to think some people can overrun a duly elected government. Maybe you should read on what happened in Sri Lanka or Hong Kong. The state has more than enough resources to combat unscrupulous elements aiming to use protest to hijack govt or cause confusion, people will die in thousands and the worst international community will do is sanction which will still affect the people mostly. Why cant you people be objective.

The state has more than enough resources to stop a 'few people' at a time....But they can't stop everybody at the same time.... Perhaps if they use some nukes?

Sri linka protest was a huge success, they achieved almost all they wanted. while the Hong Kong was just a few rascals being sponsored by the west, majority of the populace where on the side of the government.

Even dictators try as much as possible to appeal to the wider populace in order to keep control...Stop being arrogant, people choose peace because they have hope & much to loose...Gov should be very careful of large % of people losing trust in them & hope in the future

First off to be honest the bill was not well thought out , I mean how can you tax bread and sanitary pads ? But it still doesn't remove the fact governance is different from politics and gimmicks , the reality when you enter office will make you take decisions you didn't prepare for ,except you want to deceive yourself and ride the storm Sam way buhari kept paying subsidy with borrowed funds.
