TheGoodJoe:For me I can't say who's better but if we use the same metrics you use for Zidane vs KDB then you will have to accept that lampard is better or using your word more effective |

The fact remains I was the first to mention his name here. Watching him play that day I immediately knew he is a great talent. It is not hard to check whoscore/livescore for a player's position. I made my comment based on what I was seeing on the pitch. I could easily have checked whoscore/livescore for his position before posting. lol! I agree with your point then, only after confirming his role from whoscore, however on the pitch he wasn't playing that role! Only Motta can explain! His assist against Czech came from the midfield-- A central midfielder position. TheSuperNerd: 3 Likes |

Marjoribanks: Inverted left back and center backs. Most modern coaches invert wingbacks and center backs to the midfield. 3 Likes 1 Share |

chrisooblog:Overall work rate. Kevin De Bruyne influences both areas of the game. He puts in as much offensive work as he does defensively, making him key to the overall performance of the team. He works in a far higher tempo than Lampard. Finito. 1 Like |

E.g John Stones at City! Exactly my point! Imagine watching Stones for the first time when Pep played him in midfield! How would have guessed he is a defender except you are told or you check. TheGoodJoe: 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe:In that case, the skill level of Zidane compared to De Bruyne is on another level, that is where the Gulf in class comes from You've always argued for De Bruyne with effectiveness, now a name has been thrown up that matches or even surpass him in effectiveness, you're shifting goal post Baba please stop changing metrics to protect a position ... Na komekn way be that and we don leave am, na only newbies here fit dey follow am drag topic, make we no add you. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Hanibal: I have never argued about that. Zidane can do things with the ball that Kevin De Bruyne can't dream of. I have always maintained that. Where the confusion came in came to preference. I prefer Kevin De Bruyne because of his offensive contributions over Zidane. Does not mean Zidane's technical impact is not impactful or downplaying Zidane in anyway. I prefer De Bruyne's wingfielder approach. |

TheGoodJoe:Intensity does not mean it is better na. Many players have more energy, more pace, more athleticism than Maradona, Pele, Zidane, Berbatov, Pirlo, Figo na yet they cannot stand in the shadows of these men. I don't think intensity is a skill set in football and the fact that you hammer on intensity so much as perhaps the quintessential quality of modern football and players highlights one of the problems of modern football. Frenetic pace of life does not mean that that by itself makes life better than when people lived at a more relaxed pace. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: It is the combination of it. Intense work rate and outstanding technique. Look at David Silva, Xavi and Iniesta. Watch when their teams lose the ball and how they play in a frantic way. Look at Kovacic, Bernardo Silva, Foden in midfield, you see pace and skill in their midfield game. It is the work rate to win the ball and cause damage with their skills. Then still work hard to get close or inside the box to help create goals. This is a vital toolkit for the modern day midfielder. |

chrisooblog: It is impossible to compare De Bruyne and Mason Mount career wise since Mason Mount came into the scene. Heck, did he not lose his place in Chelsea and also struggling in Manchester United? |
