I went to Ahmadu Bello University (a federal government university) and enjoyed 2 student per room hostel.

You had 2 students per hostel in ABU? OK, I wount argue that with you or question your schooling claim.
I went to Ui, I also had siblings in unilag, unn etc, neither them nor I had 2 students per room in hostels.
Besides, schools down south had a phenomenon called "squatting" ie squatters. Where you have officially Eg 4 a room, but each with 2 paddies, making the average 4 person room more like having over 10.

Thanks for breaking it down for me. My eldest son after getting his undergraduate degree my wife and I had to open an equity line of credit using my house as collateral for $65000 to see him through Medical school. That was some 9 years ago. I can now just imagine what medical school costs now.

Egbon, it cost an arm and leg now to train a child abroad, that is why high end courses like medicine, law, nursing etc are all very competitive to gain admission into at private universities here in Nigeria.
Proper private schools Eg babcock, afe babalola range from 5 to 10m per session to study medicine with feeding, accommodation etc.
Guess what, even with those high fees for the average Nigerian, it is almost impossible to get admission, why? All the folks that would ordinarily send their wards abroad are now instead putting them in good private schools.
Imagine training a doctor here for 5-6 years for 35-N50m, ie 23-$33k in a high end school, compared to the US or UK where it is estimated to cost as much as 300k-£500k. That child then relocates to the UK or US and earns the same as someone trained over there with a huge student loan or debt.
You and madam did well for your son, God bless you. May almighty grant us the streight to do the same for ours.

I schooled abroad. The locals/citizens pay far cheaper than the foreigners. Our schools should make their fees cheaper for Nigerians.

Government schools are over cheap.

That's the correlation with the reality we are talking about.

Remember, many Nigerians didn't have dinner yesterday night and many have not had breakfast and we speak this morning.
