Good evening all I was denied around February for insufficient funds and lack of home ties... But am planning on re-applying Now my Sponsor who lives abroad is using her account to sponsor me. She wants to transfer some money to my account here as proof of commitment to my study. I have two accounts, Access bank, I have up to 4m dia and GTB which is not my active account. My sponsor wants to send 8m to my GTB account, but it doesn't have any financial activity on it. Reason is that she has a GTB account too Will this be a problem for me if a lump sum of 8-9m is sent into my account that has no activity on it? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by zubizareta(m): 11:25pm On Jun 28 |
Momoney77: This shouldn't be an issue. However your concern should be why your sponsor is sending just 8 million. I hope you have enough funds in your own person acct sufficient to cover your living expenses and miscellaneous expenses |

Did you go for a 2 years course? How many years did you pay and were you self sponsored ? Did you pay 2 years tuition , and bought 20635 gic? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Momoney77: 12:48am On Jun 29 |
zubizareta: She has enough funds for in her personal account for the sponsorship, one of the reasons for refusal was that she didn't send anything to me to show commitment which is what she's doing now. But she prefers GTB of which my account with them is almost non active. Thanks for your response |

Hey House, I just remembered when I used to be a silent reader here, and I want to share my story to give hope to anyone feeling hopeless. Back in 2015 and 2016, I faced back-to-back visa rejections. However, I finally got my student visa in 2017. Life hasn't been easy, but I want to encourage anyone going through tough times that it’s worth it—don't be discouraged. Thanks for the encouragement bro. God will see us through. Today, I received my Canadian passport at my house. Yes, I bought a 3-bedroom townhouse 45 minutes from downtown Toronto. I did this by myself, working in tech and saving 20% for the downpayment. This is to encourage anyone feeling down due to multiple visa rejections or any visa issues. Pray to God and let Him answer you. I now understand why God made me go through those visa rejections. When I came to Canada, the opportunities that awaited me were the ones He had planned for me. Don’t give up! [/quote] 6 Likes |

Your finances must have been clearly insufficient, or there were unexplainable lump sums, for the VO to refuse your application based on IRPR 220(a) and (b). A detailed review of the account’s cash flow could reveal the VO's concerns. For instance, a VO can refuse an application for insufficient funds, even if the balance is enough to cover the cost of education for 1yr if; 1. there is a large deposit with no reasonable explanation, and the account's history is inconsistent with such a deposit. 2. The account was opened recently 3. It is a corporate account with less than 1y statement and poor cash flow. 4. Unconvincing source of the income This list is not exhaustive. Review the bank statement for the aforementioned and see how you can address them. N50M is sufficient unless your tuition fee is exceptionally high. Paroddy: 1 Like |

Proof of connection to the sponsor and evidence of prior support is more important than the fund transfer. So, focus on demonstrating a relationship with the sponsor. For example, you need to address some of the following questions if the sponsor is a third party. Why is this person sponsoring you? Can you show a prior history of support from this person? The sponsor can also pay at least one semester of your tuition fee from the account Momoney77: |

Your parents are not required to pay a 1yr tuition fee and living expenses *(20,635 Cad) at a go; they only need to show it and can use the funds for siblings’ living expenses. So, the number of your siblings should not affect your application. Tobby76: 2 Likes |

bullstriker: My chief, you just spoke as though you have seen my GCMS note. Proof Of connection to the sponsor was what they raised... and because I don't have the same surname with my sister ( she's married but it's complicated cos she can't produce any marriage certificate) Please what are some of the documents I may need in this regard.. *I have her previous international passport bearing our surname *Her Baptism certificate and Attestation of Birth certificate *Her NECO certificate Can you tell me other documents I may need.. Thanks |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by bullstriker: 11:41pm On Jun 29 |
Just like @ Manlikethomas mentioned, baptism and attestation of birth strongly support your claim. In addition, you can use the following to make your application stronger. Affidavit of sponsorship and relationship Highlight your sister's maiden name and your last name on the Baptismal and Attestation of birth. I believe your sister can apply for a marriage certificate if she does not have one. Photos taken with her, preferably when you were a child Text or WhatsApp chat with her Proof of prior support, not necessarily financial Let her show that the funds are accessible by transferring a one-semester tuition fee to you. You should have funds in your account, especially if you are not a recent graduate, even if it is just flight costs. It is worth noting that addressing this issue does not mean you cannot be refused for another reason. So, ensure other aspects of your application, like home ties, purpose of study, etc., are taken care of. All the best! Momoney77: |
