This is stupid venture, I think with that much, introduct of vehicle assembly plant incountry will serve better

He should channel the money in producing new items or manufacturing than mere sales of disused vehicles

This story is not too convincing. An online platform and needs land for used cars. I was thinking he wanted to set up an automobile iplant for manufacturing biz or assembly plant.

The story no too straight. E get k-leg.

The business model that Saheed Ashogbon is planning on diving into has to be matter-of-factly analysed using a SWOT test so as not to run into financial headwinds.

Even the new vehicle assembly and manufacturing space for sedans and buses in Nigeria is already saturated unless a savvy entrepreneur can come up with newer purchasing schemes and innovative green technologies to disrupt the existing structure.

I wish him well though for thinking about investing on the continent unlike other African Diasporans (based in the U.S., UK, Canada, Netherlands, etc) who aren't motivated to identify gaps in specific business niches or those who simply sever ties with their ancestral roots.

It sounded very vague.

I think what he mean is he need land where he will dump unused cars loitering Lagos, but why does he need $100 to do that? He also mentioned online auction, is he planning to sell unused Naigerian cars online? Why online? And to who will he be selling these junk/scrap cars to in Naigeria? Or is he going to sell them the Americans? grin

You see those people from that region,

They are destroyers.

They will never bring good things and if another person brings they will use wickedness and want to finish the person.

Sincerely speaking I don't know what they really want.

I see his ideas and there is money to make from it.

First, what he is trying to do is to gather all those cars, bikes, heavy machines etc and put it in a lot. He will also need govt support in areas like when police, efcc, seize your vehicle, you have 1 month to claim it and if you do not claim it, it will be auctioned.

Once he has the land, the cars are moved to the land, auctions will start. Mind you, scrap dealers is also a good business, there are people in need of metals from the cars, there are individuals interested in buying good cars, accidented vehicles, etc. He gets his commission, maybe 8%. Government gets their Tax sold on those cars, he also gets online auction fee .. it is a win win.

An auto junkyard business in America would require a capital of 250,000 to 300,000 dollars but the issues surrounding it is getting the land and parking those cars. Also, environmental protection act is there to cripple you. Once you are able to start, you can make a million dollars a year in profit.

All what he mentioned there is nothing but bill crap.....500k abandoned vehicles on the streets ....ABI his bedroom...... auction systems would be difficult to practice here as Nigerians are not people who forgo there properties without any real financial gain.

How will it reduce unemployment....that guy was just capping bollocks.....do you know how big scrap buying and selling is? Jiji and OLX are already in that space of auto auctions too.....he needs 50 hectares in Lagos....where does he want to see that?

He's not trying to make the country a dumping ground, sir. Quite the opposite. He's trying to rid the country of abandoned vehicles lying all over the place.

Yes, you probarbly have explained it better than he did. grin

So why does he need $100 million to do that? He is only asking government to provide him free 50 acres so it isn't like he would buying these lands.

And as i said, why does he need oline to auction these scrap vehicles because really they scraps. Most of these vehicles would go to scrap dealers (as you mentioned scrap dealers rightly)

And again, would anyone wanna buy unused Naigerian vehicles?

And also he cannot just go pick up people's unused cars just like that without paying them.

Your comment is funny.
Let us not bury the man alive and wait till execution before we criticize.

Every business has its intrinsic challenges and is bound to experience unforeseen issues along the way.

It is how they rise above them that makes them a thriving business.

You do not expect him to state how he plans to solve those problems in his statement, do you?

How are you investing $100M in an online auction business.....and you need free land (50 hectares). This one does not have a $100M to invest besides we have pantakers to buy those abandoned cars if the owners want to sell. Besides we don't have over 500,000 abandoned vehicles in Lagos state. I think this guy is a big scam. He wants to use generating employment for the citizens as a means to scam the government. What is the man even saying? You want to take people's vehicles ( abandoned vehicles)to your yard and auction them....
