Yes, you probarbly have explained it better than he did. grin

So why does he need $100 million to do that? He is only asking government to provide him free 50 acres so it isn't like he would buying these lands.

And as i said, why does he need oline to auction these scrap vehicles because really they scraps. Most of these vehicles would go to scrap dealers (as you mentioned scrap dealers rightly)

And again, would anyone wanna buy unused Naigerian vehicles?

And also he cannot just go pick up people's unused cars just like that without paying them.
my friend, as an entrepreneur, you need govt assistance. There was a time an Italian investor who wanted to invest in palm oil business in the eastern state of Nigeria (abia), he had the money to cultivate, harvest but he needed hectares of land to do so. The govt was willing to support him but when the govt saw the number of years(6 - 8 ) for that project to benefit him and the govt, the government backed out as they may not be in power.

For this auction man here, he needs the land, maybe he can be on lease. I am not sure. But the 100million he says he has would be for logistics(tow trucks) etc.

Not all vehicles are scraps, I also explained this earlier. Police, efcc, customs etc can seize peoples vehicle and send it to the impound. Cars that are stationed on the highway and no claim for it can be towed to the impound, illegal vehicle parking on highways, compounds, markets, business districts etc can be towed. Online auction is there to reach a greater number of people and not only scrap dealers would benefit. The govt would benefit through tax, tow trucks company in demand, less traffic on the road as a result of towing stationed vehicles abandoned on the road, individuals are interested in buying used cars, mechanics are interested, panel beater(auto body collision technicians) would benefit, scrap dealers would benefit, used parts dealers would benefit.

And yes he can pick people's cars if parked illegally on places which are not designated to park your vehicles, illegal parking on the street etc.. it is because you live in a country where the system is not working. An illegal parked car somewhere, if someone is to call and the police responds, the police would call tow truck service and they will take it to the impound. If in a 1month or 3months and no one calls to check where his vehicle is, they will sell it in the auction..

And if someone comes later on to claim it, there is what we call auto bond or insurance.

I am tired of writing. That Nigerian investor sees a niche where he can tap into but he needs government assistance. The truth about this is, we auction cars in Nigeria but it is done secretly even though the govt says they make it public.

The guy is obviously a scammer. He doesn’t even look like someone who has seen cool $100k in block, but here he is talking about online auctioning of vehicles with seed capital of $100 million 😂😂

Yorubas should go and learn from Igbos on how to open genuine businesses.

Lol We have Jumia and all...they didnt ask for hectares of land. Create website, allow people to post and get commission on what is being auctioned off. If you want a garage where cars can be inspected and certified, you don't need hectares of land for that unless he is planning to create a storage center where all auction vehicles will stay and those selling will be paying for storage. It also opens up various issues like thefts and security.

sleek214:
How are you investing $100M in an online auction business.....and you need free land (50 hectares). This one does not have a $100M to invest besides we have pantakers to buy those abandoned cars if the owners want to sell. Besides we don't have over 500,000 abandoned vehicles in Lagos state. I think this guy is a big scam. He wants to use generating employment for the citizens as a means to scam the government. What is the man even saying? You want to take people's vehicles ( abandoned vehicles)to your yard and auction them....

You sound ignorant and unexposed.
Name one business that Igbos have abroad.
None.
They are lazy and incompetent when talking about genuine business. They mostly do 'powder' abroad.
I can name 10 businesses owned by Yorubas abroad.

Yorubas are the only people that are stubbornly resilient in business and have businesses spaning more than 100,90,80 years.
Igbos dont have any business that is up to 40 years or more.
Their businesses always crumble after a while.

Yorubas are the ones that can teach Igbos genuine business not the other way round.
What does an expert want to learn from a novice?

Thumbs up for your explanations. You should also let the fellow you quoted know he already answered his own question about what the investor needs a $100m for, when he mentioned he can't simply pick up people's abandoned cars without paying them, not to talk of administrative costs spanning some years.

Perhaps he wants to buy abandoned cars, revamp them and sell them to new buyers.
