Certainly you did not watch AWCON 2018.

This is not even a matter of 2018 WAFCON sef, if he or she had watch Tochukwu Oluehi who they nicknamed the flying cat during the 2006 U20 World Cup, he/she would have known better..

Oluehi has come a long way... I’m Happy she is still in the business of things because I saw greatness in her back in 2006. How time flies....😊😊

If not for how good she is and consistency I don’t think Oluehi would still be in the SuperFalcons right now..!

Alaba Jonathan is another excellent fearless goalkeeper who didn’t stay long in the SuperFalcons. She’s currently in Belgium Playing.

To be honest I didn't. But watched the 2019 WorldCup as a JJC.
And then started watching Women's football (Falcons, Falconets, Flamingoes) religiously starting from WAFCON 2022

I watched the highlights of Tochi's game, the one against Ashleigh's team in Saudi Arabia, where Ashleigh scored a hatrick against her and I wasn't impressed.

At the WorldCup 2019 Nnadozie took over from game 2 and then claimed the number 1 spot. Tochi doesn't inspire confidence.

It happens, the rise and fall. We should look to the future: Jiwuaku.

That person sounded as if Tochi was or is a bad goalkeeper, common there are bad days…! And if you follow their game very well you would know that Tochi major weakness is that she fumbles when not expected…!

If you’re to pick top5 Goalkeepers to ever play for the SuperFalcons, Tochi will definitely be there.!

How is Ruth David able to wield so much power of not that we have a dysfunctional system. Who is she and what is her role that she is able to force player into the national team? Ridiculous!!!
Until her god-daughter go cause another penalty , their eye go open.
What more does she have to offer the Falcons
We have better players now
She’s slow & appears bigger than she used to

Randy Waldrum denied saying I was forced on him’ – Francisca Ordega

By Samuel Ahmadu

Nigeria women’s coach Randy Waldrum has denied reports that he was pressured to include her in the nation’s squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics, forward Francisca Ordega exclusively told NigeriaFootball.ng on Monday.

The 12-nation women’s football event in Paris kicks off on July 25, with several teams already announcing their final 18-player squads along with their alternates.

On June 30, an online report claimed that: “a potential cold war was brewing in the Super Falcons camp. The report alleged that two top officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were attempting to impose veteran forward Francisca Ordega on coach Waldrum for the Olympics.

“They’ve been breathing down Waldrum’s neck, trying to force him to include Ordega. Two officials, a male and a female, are insisting that she be named in the squad for Paris,” report stated.

Ordega, who is the second top scorer in the Russian topflight with six goals from 12 games for leaders CSKA Moscow, admitted she was deeply embarrassed by the report and called Waldrum for clarification.

“I was surprised by the news and had to call the coach on Sunday to verify the report,” Ordega said.

“I respect him a lot and felt slighted by such allegations in the media. He said he was not aware of that and never had such talks with anyone. He also said the media were just trying to be mischievous as he never spoke to anyone about it.

“I even asked if he really did not want me on his team, he should just say it, so I can focus on my club career. It is very embarrassing to hear I am being imposed on a coach after all the sacrifices and hard work to make the country proud.”

While harboring dreams of featuring at the Olympics for the first time in her career, the four-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winner insists she is not desperate about it.

“It is always a huge privilege to represent my country and also a great honor to have a first-time experience of the Olympics, but I am not desperate to be on his team if he doesn’t want me,” she continued.

“Despite not being part of the team since the World Cup, I’ve focused on giving my best at the club level and am very happy with my form and progress so far this season. I have my colleagues like Desire Oparanozie, who didn’t have the opportunity and didn’t die. So, why should I be forced on him?”

This is not the first time Waldrum has launch a scatting attack on the NFF and individuals publicly before, and during major matches or tournaments. In 2023, he openly criticized the NFF through two viral podcasts for refusing to include his ailing assistant in the delegation and for objecting to his favourite players.

In 2022, he accused the media of being ‘hateful’ during a post-match press conference after a group stage opening loss to South Africa at the WAFCON in Morocco. In 2024, he also attacked a journalist in South Africa during another post-match press conference following his team’s qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Matters arising. This is a funny way to report though. How can Sam claim Waldrum denied said report without a direct quote from Waldrum? He should have just limited his report to his conversation with Ordega. The initial news report claimed sources as persons in the NFF and not Waldrum.

That said, I am satisfied with this since Ordega has publicly come forward to deny her involvement. She's stands innocent until proven otherwise.

Why even call a coach in the first place who didn't invite you?

Why are just killing our sports and talents...where on earth is Ordega's name coming up on the list? Those who played the qualifiers should now be sacrificed abi

Is this not a systemic way that we the media should be speaking up against? If a coach hasn't invited a player to his team over 2 or more years...how is that players name suddenly appear any where..

One of the reasons that I was cautious about the report is because I know very many people that have been involved in football administration in the past. Once upon a time it was a straightforward thing, but over time all kinds of politics crept in.

Some administrators sometimes leak stories to the press, stories that are not true, in order to achieve political aims.

I don't know if that's the case this time and that's why my atitude remains the same. I don't know if the reports are true or not. I am waiting for an official response from the NFF, for Randy Waldrum's side of the story and to see the team list.

Randy is definitely not taking to the press while he's still Nigeria's coach. His last outburst almost cost him the world cup. It also almost cost him the chance to take this team to the Olympics. He wouldn't jeopardize that by talking the the press. The NFF currently owes him 8 months salary but he isn't talking about it for this reason.

His current contract expires after the Olympics and I sincerely do not see him continuing especially if he a achieves great results with the Falcons. He would have attained 2 of th greatest heights a coach could dream of - coaching a team at the World cup and at the Olympic game. I don't see him renew his contract after this.

He is likely to then spill the beans if he so coaches, but not while he still has a contract with the NFF.

Sam dropped the ball as a journalist. He could have written the story to achieve the aim he intended to without going route he did. He credited Waldrum with statements he never made while at the same time claiming Waldrum had a pattern of negative outburst as if Waldrum was the one who leaked the story.

That metric alone is why I'll pick tested and proven Oluehi anyday till further notice. Jiwuaku time will come. And if I'm to even attempt picking her over Oluehi, she will need at least 4 friendlies as the number 1 before i can consider. Till then....

Oluehi wey dey go stop shot wey you no expect her to stop. She's come a long way. This will be her farewell at least (anything can happen for the Wafcon list).
