After weeks of thinking about the Super Eagles my final conclusion is we need to forget this dream of playing beautiful football and just try to win games. Basically what I'm saying is we need to get back to ABF grin

We did that with Rohr and Peseiro, and the take of people, including you is that we have forgotten how to play ball. How will continuing in that path help us?

Does Klopp play possession football? Yes. Does he play tiki taka? No!

Samba was a joyful, exhilarating possession style of football. Was it tiki taka? No!

Tiki taka is that mechanistic, atomized style of football where passes more than an any other aspect of the game predominate.

When you say Tiki Taka is mechanistic, it is funny because I am sure you really did not watch it in its prime. That was the most free scoring play seen.

These guys of Spain are not even attacking.

Will you compare them to the lethal force of Henry, Eto'o and Messi? Or Villa, Messi and Pedro?

Barcelona used to put in goals for fun, scoring waves upon waves. Attacking in droves.

People just sit and write what they want. However, I advise going back to study the dominant time and understand the attacking factor.

Finally, it is the growth of possession game that is making it difficult for Spain to dominate as before. Not ditching Tiki Taka.

Yeah that is the issue. Spain don't use explosive wingers/strikers. That is why they sometimes struggle to score. They should leave the passing to their midfielders. In the last third of the pitch you have to explode and try and score.
I don't think it is a total abandonment of tiki taka but a modification.
I may be wrong as u have not really watched them in this euro but what is your opinion

Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are spectators in the crowd it seems according to you .

Lamine is actually 16 and plays for Barcelona as well.

Is there really any difference between tiki-taka and posession football?

Tiki-taka is just a slang that emerged as dominant teams started to retain possession for as long as possible while moving the attack forward to break heavy defenses of smaller teams since 'negative football' started becoming an effective counter measure for them. The most efficient way to break a compact defense is a compact attack.

And tbh, this idea of team patterns doesn't even make a lot of sense. A lot of it is just being propagated by the media. You'll never hear any top manager talking about playing pattern or style. Football is dynamic and is mostly based on exploitative and reactive strategies, and that depends a lot team/individual skills and that of the opponent you're playing. In fact most of the strategy coaches employ goes unnoticed by the fans and media. Only trained eyes can catch it. All football teams play that 'tiki-taka' at one point or the other when the flow of the game makes it possible.

By trying to hold possesion in your opponents half, you outpass them and create attacking chances that can be exploited. It is easier to do that than to try to dribble your way through. In fact, most dribbles only work after the chances have been created by passes.
Tiki-Taka emphasises triangular short passes. Take the ball, pass the ball. Rondos. All phases and times on the stopwatch. Don't depart from it for any reason.

That is tikitaka

Scoring goals for fun is not my query with that poison called tiki taka. You see that constant, unending exchange of passes as if it's PS4. Might be beautiful in your eyes but it's the epitome of ugliness to me. It's the beauty of a lifeless thing like a well dressed corpse.

OFFICIAL: Former Ghana assistant coach ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ George Boateng has been appointed as first team coach for Coventry City alongside Rhys Carr.

Boateng played 57 games for Coventry City from 1998-1999. The Sky Blues reached the semifinals of the FA Cup last season and finished 9th in the Championship.

Imagine all this Ghana coaches getting jobs and Amunike, Finidi etc can't even get a second division jobs in Eastern Europe to manage

Ronaldo should retire. Always looking for tap ons and penalties. Age had caught up with him and he is a shadow of his former self. The last world cup showed it.
Portugal should forget about him. Let him stay in Saudi Arabia

There was nothing beautiful about our play, we only tried to keep the ball.

Finidi tried to impress with bids at ball retention but lacked real inventions at breaking down his opponent's defenses, and attacking attempts.

It appears the training sessions were all about passing and ball retention, with no clear intentions to actual winning.

Finidi's invitations of players shows a man who borrows theories, but lacking the real intelligence to work it out.

Finidi is not experienced enough for such a tough job as Nigerias coach. He needs more experience as a coach.
He has a lot to learn. He does not even have the charisma or leadership ability. He should try and coach an Egyptian club, a second division french club, nigerian league, u17 and then he will learn and grow.
He did not even invite good defenders and his players didn't respect him.
He was not ripe for the job thats all

I've heard so much about Benjamin Sesko. Every time, ssesko, Sesko Sesko.

I think finally, Osimhen will make a move. Unless some big clubs are dead blind. As it is, Sesko failed audition yesterday.

Instead of man utd to buy Osimhen, dem buy average Hujlund, still wan buy Sesko. I laugh in mid table.

Osimhen will definitely move
It's 100% certain

Any of Arsenal, PSG and Manchester United

For me he can go to Arsenal or PSG
And I will be okay with the move

Forget O!

I love Sesko's play so much. He plays like a one-touch midfielder when he drops deep. He has awareness of his teammates (although makes bad decisions sometimes) and his distribution is impeccable. He knows how to pass, short and long.

His work rate is crazy insane. He presses the goalkeeper of the opposition, along with the opposing defenders and defensive midfielder.

He sometimes drops deep to defence to defend and good at defending corner kicks.

He is just 21 years, meaning he can still be tactically shaped. And, he is also very fast. A big guy like Haaland that can carry himself.

Finally, watch him here too. Definitely a guy built to become something special. I just hope he lands on the right coach. Watch how he operates as an offensive midfielder. Something I have been hammering on for Osimhen to improve on.
