@Bovali, you're doing remarkably well! To avoid situations where your kids may ask you questions that you can't answer, I suggest you consider adding the Mag7 or S&P 500 NYSE to your portfolio. This would mitigate the constant forex losses in NGX and possibly beat future devaluation of Naira and ravaging global inflation.

Please can you guide me on how to do that? @adding the Mag7 or S&P 500 NYSE to your portfolio
Thanks

Please explain more on the Mag7 or S&P 500 NYSE. What is it all about? Do they pay dividend? What medium do you use to invest? What is the risk profile? etc. Thanks.

CORNERST for instance has been improving over the years......came out of zero div payment, paid 5k in 2021 fye, 6k in 2022 fye (at least no known FX gains then), and now paying 16k for 2023 fye..... that's +60% increase in dividend payout for the last FY.

I've always wondered why people love dividends so much. You get charged 10% for taking profits on your own company profit. I wonder why Nigerian companies dont do share buyback schemes.

I only gave you like 'worse-case' scenario based on TA for ONLY DS
Other factors will definitely come into play for example a general bull

Edited: I took a look again using the stochastic which is a powerful short-term 'buy' indicator
It shows that it might have rejected the support at 38-40 price region on the daily. However, the weekly is not yet in the buying zone

Go a step further and do a trend analysis (looking at effective retracement zones) together with the proficient use of the DFTS... and you'd see that even the WTF you highlighted has done something to form a directional bias.
You can work around the stochastic or other momentum indicator (ref: W%R) to give you a "lead clue".
Even a wave analysis should give one a clue. TA requires you to work around the chart and not just work with the chart.

On the part in italics, there are quite some solid PVA to show that DS will most likely not get to that N32--33 price you stated. ...quite some solid reasons. wink cheesy cool
The prob of occurrence has only diminished in recent time. (ref: WTF PVA)
For one thing, that price range is not a strong support level. Infact, it's not even a KL neither is it a PSL.

Narrow probability is if something happens on the MTF. ...but that will change the coys long-term structure and create... wink cool
The only thing that can bring about that price will be either a terribly bad Q2/H1 financial print or some bad report/sector event.

What I see in DS now is another version of what I saw in JULIUS BERGER @ N30--31 before recommending it to my outline subscribers.

With DS, one thing is certain though; some folks will see an opportunity, grab it with both hands and reap bountiful reward in time while some will exit out of panic and later lament bitterly.

Japaul's private placement was to raise funds to acquire Chinese companies with gold mine and other mineral deposits as well as to establish a gold refinery... they need time to actualize their plans.. if they pull it off , Japaul would be big.. gold is big .. additionally the mines are in osun state which is peaceful as against the mines in the north..

https://businesspost.ng/economy/japaul-wants-fresh-n20bn-for-gold-refinery-acquisition-of-hh-mines-covenant-gems/

Japaul Wants Fresh N20bn for Gold Refinery, Acquisition of H&H Mines, Covenant Gems
November 8, 2023
Dipo Olowookere

By Dipo Olowookere

About N20 billion is needed by Japaul Gold and Ventures Plc for the acquisition of H&H Mines Limited and Covenant Gems and Gold Minerals Limited.

A statement signed by the company secretary, Mr Michael Edeko, disclosed that part of the fresh funds would be used by the mining firm to establish a gold refinery.

The organisation explained in the notice filed to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited that the additional capital would enable it to reposition itself as “a market leader in the mining sector.”

Japual, which trades its stocks at the country’s main bourse, further disclosed that the new funding would be sourced from “identified investors” through special placements.

The company is looking to offer these investors a total of 8 billion ordinary shares at a unit price of N2.50. At the moment, an application has been submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for approval.

When authorised by SEC to go ahead with the special placements and the funds secured, Japaul said it would take a 50 per cent stake in H&H Mines and a 100 per cent stake in Covenant Gems.

According to the firm, feasibility studies have been conducted to determine the value the acquisitions would give to the company and shareholders at large.

“This is to notify the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited and the investing public that following the company’s board resolution dated June 14, 2023, the company has applied to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise additional capital in the sum of N20 billion through special placements with identified investors.

“The proceeds of the placements shall be applied primarily to finance the expansion of the company’s minefields through the acquisitions of a 50 per cent stake in H&H Mines and a 100 per cent acquisition of Covenant Gems and Gold Minerals Limited in Eti-Oni, Atakumosa Local Government, Osun State (assets for shares exchange) and the establishment of a gold refinery to maximise value.

“The transaction is aimed at reinforcing the primary business of the company as a mining-focused enterprise and repositioning it as a market leader in the mining sector.

The mining lease of H&H Mines Limited based on the Competent Persons Report (CPR) confirms a gold reserve in excess of 20,000kg, while Covenant Gems and Gold Minerals Limited minefields contain copper and mineable gold with 97 per cent,” the disclosure said.

That is know as a lot size. Imagine you have a big box of chocolates. When you want to sell or buy chocolates with your friends, you don't just trade one piece at a time. Instead, you agree to trade a group of chocolates all at once, like a bundle of 10 chocolates.

In trading, a "lot size" is like that bundle of chocolates. It's a way of grouping things together so you don't trade just one thing at a time. For example:

Standard Lot: This is like trading 100,000 chocolates all at once. It's a big bundle.
Mini Lot: This is like trading 10,000 chocolates. It's a smaller bundle than a standard lot.
Micro Lot: This is like trading 1,000 chocolates. Even smaller.
Nano Lot: This is like trading 100 chocolates. The smallest bundle.
When traders talk about lot sizes, they're talking about how many units of something they are trading all at once. It makes it easier to manage and understand how much is being traded. So that 0.01 is like a nano lot

This is what he said in simple terms. OGG please correct me if i assumed any incorrectly:
Analyzing Trends and Using Tools:

Look at how prices have moved in the past and where they have temporarily stopped and then continued in the same direction (retracement zones).
Use the Dynamic Financial Trend System (DFTS) to analyze these trends effectively.
You'll see that the point you mentioned (WTF - Watch This Factor) is also showing a trend direction.
Use indicators like the Stochastic Oscillator or the Williams %R (W%R) to measure the speed and strength of price movements and get hints about future prices.
Another method to study price patterns, called wave analysis, can also give you clues.
When doing technical analysis (TA), explore different parts of the chart to understand it better.

Price Predictions:

The part in italics indicates strong evidence (Price Volume Analysis - PVA) showing that the price of the stock DS will probably not reach N32-33.
The likelihood of this happening has decreased recently (referring to the WTF and PVA).
That price range is not a strong support level (a level where the price typically stops falling).
It’s not a key level (KL) or a psychological level (PSL) either.

Unlikely Scenarios:

For the price to reach that range, something significant must happen in a different timeframe (Multiple Time Frame - MTF).
This would change the company’s long-term structure.
The only way the price will drop that much is if the company has a very bad financial report for the second quarter or half-year (Q2/H1) or if there’s a negative event in the sector.

Opportunities and Risks:

With the stock DS, some people will see an opportunity to invest and benefit greatly over time.
Others might panic and sell, only to regret it later.

Mankind2024:
As of now, my 3.5 year old NGX portfolio balance stands at N125 million, following a profit of N110 million taken in April 2024. Additionally, I have investments in Mutual Funds and Money Market Funds worth N6 million. A portion of the profit was invested in the NYSE S&P 500 and the Magnificent 7. Currently, I'm holding a cash balance of N20 million, awaiting suitable investment opportunities, and $14,000 for S&P 500 additional investments. My NYSE portfolio has been active for less than 11 months. I sold all my holdings at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic and bought sewc heavily in NGX during same period

My Treasury Bill holdings are currently valued at N5 million, and my Bitcoin holdings are worth $6,000. You'll need a long-range lens to get a clear view of my NGX portfolio! I'll share a screenshot after rebalancing by September 2024.
I'm sharing this information to inspire others. I was deeply motivated by the investment philosophy of PA Emma and the veteran investor, Agbalowomeri.
I would humbly advise Agba to adopt the investment philosophy of not trying to time the market. Historically, time in the market outperforms timing the market. If we rely solely on PA Agba's charts to dictate our investment decisions in the NGX, we risk missing out on opportunities unless a pandemic, military coup, or natural disaster occurs, which no one can predict except God.

My first NGX portfolio was established in 2008, but I liquidated it and took a break from the market. I briefly returned in 2014, still struggling to grasp the market dynamics. In 2018, I started a new portfolio with just N5,000, with my index broker. Previously, I paid a 1.35% brokerage commission on all transactions with my two former brokers. However, I discovered my current index broker through an MCy post on this forum, and they charge a competitive 0.5% commission, aligning with my goal of operating a N1B portfolio by 2027, a vision I launched in 2020. I'm not sharing this to boast; rather, I'm acknowledging my blessings and expressing gratitude to God for each day of my life. Interestingly, if you were to meet me in person, you'd never guess that I'm worth over N100,000. I don't have social media accounts, but I'm active on the NL forum. I hope my story motivates someone out there.
I hope to be like Agbalowomeri and Pa Emma by joining the N1B portfolio gang holders. Lol

Please don't wish to be like me oooooo. My portfolio wey never near N5 million

And yes DS is a buy. ...N39--43 price level is an opportunistic one.

Pls note that I do not give free recommendations all the time. Except for a few cases where I decide to drop a FA and/or TA guide like the last 3 of ACCESSCORP, C&I LEASING and MBENEFITS @ N17.85, N2.55 and 56k in that order, I usually attach a fee for some of my services.

The truth is that TA as a predictive tool is hit or miss. TA can tell you what has happened or what is currently happening; it can indicate whether we are in an uptrend or downtrend and whether the market is overbought or oversold, etc. But, the market can remain oversold for longer than expected, making it impossible to be certain about future movements.

FA is another valuable tool. It can help you understand the value of a stock and determine whether it's undervalued or overvalued relative to its current market price. But, FA cannot predict when stocks will move, which is why OGG cannot provide timing in his analysis.

There may be means of predicting market movements, both legal and illegal.

I believe TA and FA should be used together to improve outcomes. For instance, FA might indicate that a stock is priced well, while TA could suggest that now is probably a good time to enter. Alternatively, they could be used to identify when a stock has become overpriced.

Note that neither TA nor FA are truly predictive tools. Predictive capabilities may be found in methods like statistical modeling or machine learning algorithms. Don't misunderstand me, though – you can use TA and FA to make substantial profits if you understand them well.

And then there are TA methods that are pure rubbish, such as Elliott Waves and Fibonacci retracements. These approaches are so subjective that 1,000 different people can draw their own unique conclusions from the same chart. undecided
