Whose responsibility is it to provide transformer for the community?
1. Federal government
2. State government
3. Local government
4. NEPA
5. Politicians
6. Community itself

In my community, each house have been contributing to buy transformer, we once contribute 15k each, the second time, we contributed 3k each for repairing, the next time we contributed some amount that I cannot remember, now the transformer just had another fault and we are mandated to pay 7k each.
I am just wondering what is the essence of bills NEPA bring monthly when they cannot install transformer for a community?
If we cannot contribute to build bank to save money, we cannot rent shop for our food seller, we cannot buy feed for our broiler farmers, why then must we buy transformer ourselves and still pay monthly bills?

In theory, Nepa should get power to your house, while you religiously pay your electricity bills

In practice, Community.
Nepa na just to give light and collect bill.

They are part of distribution network and sound like a thing for a DisCo.

I think that should be the responsibility of the government both federal and state then passed on to PHCN who will then distribute and fix up the community because transformers and metres don't belong to neither the community nor individuals so why should people be contributing to buy it but then this Nigeria where anything can happen.

It is the responsibility of the service provider to ensure all apparatuses needed to get the customers satisfied are provided. Transformers belong to the NEPA as it is used to get services across to the customers. Unfortunately, NEPA is not seeing us as valuable customers that's why communities are contributing money to buy or repair transformers. Consumers buy transformers and it is used to convert power into consumable form l, then the consumers still pay monthly bill.

It is the duty of the Discos. That’s why they are called distribution companies. There is no longer NEPA or PHCN in existence.

Now we have the power generating companies who generate the power. The sell power to distribution companies, who in turn sell to the consumers. They have the business of infrastructures like meters and transformers.

When a network mast is faulty or an area needs a mast who takes responsibility for the mast repair or installation, the customer or the service provider? I think transformer installation or repairs should be the responsibility of govt/discos. As a Nigerian I provide water, security (pay vigilante) buy and repair transformers, what really is the duty of the government? Honestly, the thought of being a Nigerian alone is depressing

Anyone asking you to contribute and buy transformer to a private company, - a transformer which is one of the tools and mechanism of operation for a company to generate money - Such person is a thief.
If the whole community speak out in one voice and call the power company to order, you will see a new transformer will be provided and installed immediately. I have witnessed this many times.

Nigerians never ask questions and are too timid when it comes to holding people accountable for their duties.

I am paying you to fly me from Lagos to PHC but you want me and other passengers to CONTRIBUTE and buy plane for you.

Nigerians need to wake up.
