I'm not looking to be a physician in Canada. Just want to use it as route to leave Nigeria first.

Don't just have the mindset of leaving Nigeria; have a plan to get permanent residency, a good job, and stability. You will leave but will be frustrated without a plan.

People are finding it hard to get PR in Canada after school. If you understand the Express Entry system, you'll see how frustrated people are. Some students in Canada are protesting in Prince Edward Island, Brampton, Vancouver, etc., and the government will not address their concerns because elections are on the way, and they are not a priority.

The same thing happens in the USA, where people wait endlessly for a green card and often resort to getting married for papers. Getting married is one way to receive a Green Card, but it is foolish to assume that simply marrying a U.S. citizen will result in an automatic Green Card. Even after marriage, there are often many hoops to jump through.

To be honest, my secondary school classmate is currently in a bind because his Green Card was denied after marriage. He is reapplying because they don't believe the marriage is genuine. Trust me, those marriage interviews for Green Cards are not getting easier.

On June 21, 2024, the Supreme Court in America said marriage is not a guarantee that you will get a Green Card.

Just have a plan.

If you understand what is happening all over the world, you'll see it's turning generally conservative (USA, Europe, and Canada). One thing about conservatives is that they don't like mass immigration.

You have to focus on your strengths and know which country fits you. Canada didn’t fit my brother, who is a medical doctor from Nigeria, so he moved to the UK and has his permanent residency there. I think they call it ILR.

You have to do your research. No one will give you all the answers you want. Don’t leave Nigeria without a plan because you will be super frustrated.

I recently got refused a study visa for undergraduate studies at university of prince Edward Island. The reason for the refusal was purely financial and none of the you won't come back things. Particularly from the 220a and 220b section of their IRCC laws sha. So I'm planning on reapplying I was told that I have to write a letter of explanation addressing all the reasons I was refused so I'll do that. My dad took out a yearly loan from one of the hospitals he works with and they agreed to fund him 20 million naira yearly for 4 years at 5% per annum. My parents are also planning on paying the full tuition for a year which would leave about 40 million left in the account for POF as they are my main sponsors. Should my dad write in his sponsor letter the amount he earns yearly on average?, I've already registered my courses would that add to anything?, gurus ant suggestions and advice would be nice thank you. I really don't know how to navigate this thing for real.
Your dad should include his employment letter, payslip, documentation for the loan inflow , an affidavit of support. He should write a cover letter of sponsorship and stating his annual salary and the source of the loan.

On my POF documents, I included
My account statement, payslip, invoices,
Current and Previous employment and promotion letters
Sponsor account statement, payslip, and employment letter.
Property documents(gift deed).

Do you think I should include the sponsor letter of sponsorship, affidavit of sponsorship in this documents too?

include the signed affidavit of sponsorship and also write a list of documents you submitted with reason this will make it easy for VO to understand (e.g heading: list of documents submitted to show proof of funds ,1. Applicants Account Statement showing so so amount etc.you can download apps to merge your documents
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 11:38am On Jul 03
Ok. Thanks. I created a list in my SOP where I highlighted all my documents. My intention is to link wherever I put 'see attached document' words to the pages they are located in the SOP. Knowing that POF file is uploaded separately from the SOP file has confused me. I'm using the second portal with less file upload.

He must have applied formally for the loan from his workplace stating the reason for the loan. The application was approved and the money disbursed to your dad's account. Attached these documents to show how the trail of how money came about. Also attach his other employment documents as earlier stated. Remember to add your birthcertificate affirming he is your dad. Send webform to IRCC with your new UCI Number and application Number, Name on application..
Details: You have been assigned a New UCI Number, quote previous UCI Number, Request to update your biometrics information on portal and if you changed Name including the information.
Attach your previous (BVL)Biometrics validity letter, if name change previous and current passport data page merged with BVL.

Note : UCI number can change even without making a change of name in previous applications.
And you can't retain the old UCI Number, you have been assigned a New UCI which can be merged with old UCI Number.

Thanks so much

Thank you so much for your reply.

I cannot fund a 2yrs programme. It's too expensive. The cost of living is high for 2 yrs and the best I can do is go for 1yr programme.

I have a B.Sc in Biochemistry. I have been in Tech for over 7yrs now. I audio and video edit on fiverr.com/MasterCraft360. I love tech and everything it offers. My only worry is the effect on PGWP application. I hear tech is as important as health.

Thanks again for your advice.

amnotapervert:

It highly depends on what you want from the country. I can't recommend anything specific, but I advise against going for a one-year program unless you have a serious plan for obtaining your PR after working for one year. Remember, schooling for one year will get you a one-year work permit, and it's difficult to get a job right out of school unless you are highly proactive.

It typically takes an average of 4 to 6 months to secure a job. Life after school is difficult without a plan; the country isn't the same as it used to be, 2015 to 2022 Golden immigration years in Canada so you need a serious plan.

For tech jobs like software development, product manager, program manager, business analyst, software engineer, automation system engineer, or system DevOps engineer, you will have better job prospects.

I can't recommend anything specific, but be aware that Justin Trudeau will be out of power by October 20, 2025, and the new conservative government might not be as kind to immigration as the current administration.

As of today, you can get a PGWP as long as your school is approved by the government. I can't remember the exact name, but it's better to do a Master's degree if you have a BSc from Nigeria.

A lot of things are changing daily with immigration, so plan for life after school because the country isn't as welcoming as before.

That's my honest opinion.

A fully funded MSc program in what?

You can't be asking vague questions, to be honest.

It's possible to get funding, but it typically has to be for a research master's. Canada is mostly looking for international tuition to fund their schools, so getting full funding is difficult.

Canadians are looking for full scholarships as well even as the fees are cheap for them

It's possible for international students to get full scholarships, but it's difficult. Mostly, what you see are scholarship grants where a certain percentage of the fees is paid. For personal research, you would need to find out more about it.

I have met very few people who have been granted full scholarships, but they had extraordinary results and were doing research in very specific fields.

One person I met was doing research on cancer and how computer programs can detect cancer in someone's bloodstream. These are very specific research projects that were funded by private companies in the U.S. in collaboration with the University of Toronto. This research was tied to a professor, so the professor was able to give the student a full scholarship. The student was from Nigeria and graduated from Covenant University with extraordinary results.

After getting admission, the student emailed the professor with a proposal, and the professor was able to assist. Her master's program was then fully funded.

It is hard, but it is possible. Just do your research to find what suits you.

No one has all the answers

You have better options in USA, but it has to be for research that is highly sought after.

Sleep on both website to see which one you qualify for
The website is always updated with the most recent scholarships from different countries. It would be good to open once in the while to see which one you qualify for

Best of luck

I did a one-year program in communications and then another one in journalism. I came in with a one-year program and applied for another course after my first year, which gave me a three-year work permit. You can apply for a one-year permit and reapply for admission, as it is easy to get admission if you are already in the school/Canada system. I also explained it here.

Financial buoyancy is a strong home tie. So, landed property, fixed deposit etc
Study leaves from employer or proof of business registration
Family members in Nigeria
proof of membership in an organization

It is not just about the documents; you should explain them in your SoP and discuss job opportunities and ambitions. You can attach a snapshot of the job posting in your occupation. Be concise in your submission and let it flow in a logical sequence.
Momoney77:

Thanks so much for your quick response, I will follow up with all you have outlined for me here...

But, please on the issues of home ties, what are some of the things I should try and get.
*Am single
*I have a PoA of my landed property
*I have a puppy ( gift from a friend)
What are some other things I should be getting ready?
I appreciate

Cheer up. You can still get your application approved. Unless your tuition fee is 15K per year, 30K is insufficient for 4 semesters. Also, the 22M in your account covers one year of living expenses. So, how do you intend to pay for the subsequent year? So, the funds are insufficient for a self-sponsor going for a 2-year program. If you are sponsoring yourself, you must have the tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of your program unless you can demonstrate a reliable source of income while in Canada. On the other hand, if you are using a sponsor, you can show just the cost of education for one year, regardless of the duration of your studies.

I am seriously down now, need your advice. I checked my portal yesterday and realised I was denied, one that I didn't prove I will return home and 2, that I don't have sufficient funds.

Permit me to give a detailed explanation. I was denied Visitors visa in January this year, though that was not much of a problem because dollars was very high then. I applied for my student permit like 3weeks ago with 22million as my POF. Why 22m? I got a study loan of 30k dollers from MPower, which covers my fee. Mind you,I am going for master's in project management which could take about 20months. I did that 22m because my fee was out and I have a flight reservation.

However,I allowed my POF to be 3weeks before I applied, and I removed the money the week after I submitted my application.

I need guru's in the house, what could have been wrong with my application? Is there something I should have done I didn't do? I even wrote a letter of explanation to back my POF,just to make the application stronger. I am seriously depressed now, just staying strong. I need advice please.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by bullstriker: 5:02am On Jul 04
Paying the first-year tuition fee is an excellent idea. Then, explain the source of large sums in his account with supporting documents. Failure to explain the 20M deposit could lead to refusal for insufficient funds.
Yes, the sponsorship letter should mention his position, salary, start date etc. Alternatively, he can do an affidavit of sponsorship.
