IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Reportedly Agrees To Comply With Tinubu Govt's Terms Of Release

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reportedly agreed to comply with the conditions set by President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government for his release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

This was disclosed by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South Senatorial District on Wednesday after their recent meeting between the South-East Senators and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) on Kanu’s release.

Led by Senator Abaribe, approximately 15 federal lawmakers participated in the closed-door meeting.

Senator Abaribe, speaking on behalf of his colleagues after the meeting, expressed optimism that the Attorney-General would influence the Federal Government to consider releasing Kanu.

He emphasised that Kanu's prolonged detention was contributing to heightened insecurity and unrest in the South-East region.

Vanguard reports that Senator Abaribe disclosed that he had personally met with Kanu at the DSS headquarters, where Kanu expressed readiness to comply with any conditions set by the government for his release.

The senators' meeting with the Attorney-General followed the South-East governors' decision to appeal directly to President Tinubu for Kanu's freedom.

Earlier, a group of 50 members from the House of Representatives had urged President Tinubu to instruct the Attorney-General to use Section 174 of the Constitution to terminate the terrorism-related charges against Kanu in court.

Nnamdi Kanu's legal saga began with his initial arrest in Lagos in October 2015, subsequent bail in April 2017, and eventual escape from the country amid his trial. He was re-arrested in Kenya in June 2021 and has since remained in custody of the DSS.

Despite the Court of Appeal's order for his release in October 2022, the Supreme Court later overturned this decision in December 2023, allowing the Federal Government to proceed with the trial on seven remaining charges.

This ongoing legal battle continues to attract significant attention and advocacy efforts from lawmakers and leaders in the South East region of Nigeria.

The Nnamdi Kanu that is being spoken for is what I don't understand. If you are tired of keeping him illegally and unjustly, release him instead of ascribing rediculous statements to him as a cover for his long overdue release.

If Kanu successfully komot for that prison it would mean the man indeed has a higher purpose.

I'm Igbo an I believe if he doesn't have higher destiny then he would have been dead and killed long ago.

They could have easily killed him in Kenya or Gave him the Abiola treatment but something greater prevented all that from happening.

As for me, I think the government shouldn't release Kanu. Setting him free will only make other terrorist like Ekpa, Boko Haram, Bandits and other terrorist groups like IPOB wreck more destruction

He should first renounce Biafra and also dissolve Ipob as a group.

We can have a talk after that

Anybody who is still not in support of his release, even after agreeing to Govt terms, harbours hatred for the SE region.

So you really think Buhari and his hegemonic gang didn’t want to murder him in Kenya!? They couldn’t for a number of reasons! When it comes to ensuring the continued existence of their ATM, there are lines they know that if crossed could complicate an already sticky situation!

If this is true, Prime Minister Simon Ekpa if the BRGIE (Biafrian republic government in exile) won't like this.

I wonder if the condition includes Nnamdi Kanu going on live TV to renounce IPOB, and it's secessionist agender. They might even offer that he joins APC party lol.

He could also rejoin IPOB and become more violent. The government should let the judiciary do its work.

Something greater, you mean the dignity and respect of Buhari

He ran away because he claimed Buhari wanted to kill him, yet Buhari captured him, brought him back and gave him legal representation...

Who is the liar here? Who is greater?

But you guys accused Buhari of killing innocent people, he even accused Buhari of trying to secretly kill him in his house

According to you Buhari wasn't scared to cross those lines but killing a terrorist is what will draw the line.

I blame Buhari, "no good deed goes unpunished".

All lies, 9ja government trying to save face knowing fully well that they have no choice than to release the man grin

hopexter:

True! in that case, the federal government should keep him there. You only end up killing yourselves after all, only the East suffers Ipob terrorism, he’s only being released for your own good undecided

Kanu should stay in detention as long as possible. In fact, let him stay there until Biafra is actualized either by referendum or otherwise. It's his calling and it's his destiny.

Just like how Nelson Mandela Was incarcerated until south Africa gained freedom so will nnamdi kanu be locked up till his people are free. Those two men are legends, one already and one in the making.

Tinubu wants to release Nnamdi Kanu to bring Igbos to his side since the North has abandoned him.

He wants to propose a South vs North strategy for his 2027 campaign and is willing to drop Shettima for Umahi if El Rufai, Atiku, Buhari and co continue to pepper him.

Next, he will depose the Emir of Ilorin and force a Yoruba man on them hoping to erase their Afonjatijati legacy. This move is to add the Middle Belt to his "Southern" team. He believes this will work because of Wike's strides in FCT. This confidence is also why Wike threatened Kingibe days ago.

Hehehe

See where Nzogbu nzogbu has led this one to.

Now he wants to comply, lol.

It is better for a bag of rice to be N300,000 than for Tinubu to release the bastard.

The bastard should first bring back to life people he has killed.

He is a terrorist and must be treated as one.

He will be killed and nothing any of the cannibals known to be criminals worldwide will do about it.

Lol

South East Governors and other political leaders are banking on Nnamdi Kanu's freedom for peace and security to return to the East.
Does that mean Nnamdi Kanu is the de-facto leader of the East?
Maybe they want him to come out so he can call Simon Ekpa to order.
Meanwhile Simon Ekpa has left IPOB and formed his own group.
Rather than the governors take control of the situation as elected leaders, they are putting their hopes on Kanu.

Well, I hope I'm wrong and that's not the case.

I was reading the book of Deuteronomy and i came across so many of the laws being practiced by islam, i was shocked and immediately it dawned on me that Prophet Mohamed was a jonzing man who smoked igbo and read the bible only to end up forming Islam and even creating the koran while trying so hard to twist the teachings of the men of old and even placing himself as a Jesus equal. The bible clearly states God's curse on anyone who intentionally deviates from the teachings of truth in the bible. God is love but their allah is a blood sucking vampire. So moslems should give their life to Jesus christ to avoid damnation before it is too late. I'm sure Mohamed is rotting in hell right now like the rich neighbor of lazarus. Jesus Christ is the only way, truth and light and no man comes to the Father except through Him.
