Would you rather have:

1. A job paying you 25m/yr

2. Your own business making 500k/month
Re: Which Would You Rather Have? by UTILITYMAY(m): 7:39am On Jul 05
I would rather have a job paying N25 million/year. Assuming this is my net pay, it significantly surpasses the annual N6 million I would earn from a business making N500,000/month, which is less than 25% of the job's salary. The substantial difference in income makes the job a more attractive option. With the higher salary, I can plan towards the future and raise capital to eventually start a business capable of generating up to N5 million a month. Once that goal is achieved, I can then consider transitioning from the job to my own business.

Only few people are meant to be an entrepreneur; most people are meant to work under someone and retire at someone point.

Even with that, you still realize loss is you calculate it well.

Increase in fuel price or cost of transportation to the place of work without the company increasing salary as at when due is a big loss.

Price hikes here and there keep stricken your 25m yearly means a huge loss.

With a job paying salary of 25M/yr, I'll earn 100M in 4 years.

Working for myself with a take home of 500k/month, it will take over 16 years to make 100M.

There's no guarantee your business will flourish for 16 years, judging by Tinubu's economy.

Every sane human would choose the first option.

If you take the 25M, you go home with 2M monthly.

My thought exactly. People keep focusing on the insecurity of doing business ignoring the insecurities an employee is going through.

You can always be fired at any time.

If you are fired with the right skills you can get a higher paying job again but if business fails it's not easy to rise up again.

You said the right skills, which means this is not the case most times.

Same thing apply in the business field, the right person, with the right skill and resources will definitely rise back up with time.

All entrepreneurs must face inevitable crisis that may come close to putting them out of business. Most will fail, few shall scale through the challenges.

There's no where on earth you'll earn 25m/year and not have a very high value (skill). Convert it or PPP(Purchasing power parity ) in any country, and you're better off than the so called business

I don't think so. We're getting off the op's topic but i guess it's allowed.

Look,we're not talking about mom n pop or small businesses here,we're talking big business, fortune 100-500 companies and you're saying 25m is way better in comparison?

Any employer that is willing to pay you 25m annually is easily making times ten of that amount. Who's better off then?

You're not getting the whole point. The comparison is 25m/yr to 500k monthly business revenue, not profit. It will be delusional to pick the business

Absolutely. I guess i misunderstood you initially.

No sane person will choose the "business " over the job in this case.
