RSHA HEADS TO SUPREME COURT AGAINST AMAEWHULE-LED LAWMAKERS

...Says no two Assembly as Amaewhule and co are no longer lawmakers

...Asks INEC to conduct bye election to fill vacant seats

...Bills on emergency management, State transport system pass first reading

The Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo has declared that the State Assembly is appealing the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on the jurisdiction of Rivers State High Court to hear the matter on suit number PHC/1512/CS/2024, describing it as a miscarriage of justice.

Rt. Hon. Oko-Jumbo made this known on Friday at the sitting of the Assembly in Port Harcourt, saying that the House has directed its legal team to urgently proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling by the Appeal Court.

He averred that contrary to speculations the Court of Appeal did not make any declaration that Martin Amaewhule & 24 others did not defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress neither did the Appeal Court also declare them as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The Speaker emphasised that there cannot be two Houses of Assembly in Rivers State or in any State in Nigeria, adding that Amaewhule and his team in spite of all their pretences are no longer members of the Rivers State House of Assembly in line with the earlier declaration by the Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison which has not been vacated by any Court of competent jurisdiction.

"Once again, we, the legitimate Members of the RSHA hereby call on the Independent National Electoral Commission to promptly conduct a Bye Election to fill the vacant seats in the RSHA."

"We strongly urge the general public to ignore Martin Amaewhule & 24 others in their pretence that they are members of the RSHA"

Two bills, the Rivers State Transport Company Reform Bill 2024 and Rivers State Emergency Management Bill 2024 passed the first reading of the State House of Assembly.

Oga, state high court lacks the jurisdiction to determine such case. I'm sure you just want to buy more time to keep Martin and his co-travelers out of the assembly quarters.

I'm still waiting to hear the substantive case from the honorable justice Omotosho at the FHC Abuja.

At the end, it will be a wasted 4 years of instability. All these fracas will surely slow down development and good governance, no doubt.

This just confirmed that the judgement didn't favor Fubara and his team.

At the Federal level, Wike will win this battle. If Fubara can't use state means to remove this lawmakers, he should forget about using supreme court or any federal means.

Without throwing up this factional Assembly, how will he had passed a humongous N800b budget?

How will he have been working with Commissioners who will be cleared by the Assembly?

How will he have been functioning with the Sword of Damocles hanging on his head?

He knows what he is doing...... just stretching it and buying time!
This is a country of little or no laws though, he will ride through this 4 years and nothing will happen!

If someone is elected under a party and defects to another party, does it mean they have automatically carried their elected office to the other party without the need to first drop the position?

So why are they heading to the supreme Court if indeed they are the recognised house of assembly?

All these unnecessary fights are becoming too much in Rivers state. Fubara should focus on his primary duties as the governor. He should be constructing roads and beautifying the state like Wike did and is currently doing in Abuja. The citizens don’t care if you’re stealing money but show workings while at it.

You failed to inform the public that they are heading to the supreme Court?

It's actually there. Take your time to read. How was the party all night? Your members are yet to seat

nobody can remove sim until his 4yrs expires.I also do not know how he will be able to perform with all this struggles. He is likely to fail. Then the failure will be used against him during reelection campaign.I also do not see men standing by him. Most of the ppl saying they are supporting sim are doing that because as a seating gov,he has money to give them.they are not genuine supporters.if wike call meeting today sim call meeting.More men with political power will attend wikes own.It will be easier for me to sleep with Regina Daniel than for sim to be re-elected.

What the hell are you talking about . You still believe in the Nigerian justice system? Our leaders chooses what to obey or not and the judiciary is adding and abating them with bad judgement. You all witness how federal high court dabbled into kano emirship matter which is within state High Court jurisdiction...Conflicting judgement is not helping matters . When it doesn't suit them the forget about jurisdiction but .

If supreme court rules on the matter in Wike's favour, the matter will now start afresh from Federal High court. Then all the way to supreme court. .This is nust on exparte order ooo.
After that finishes, the main motion will now start again up till supreme court again. By that time, qe will be preparing for election in 2027

It's a pity that at the end of the day this Speaker and his co- travellers suspension will turn into vacation of office and it's their seats that INEC will conduct election for to fill. The former speaker who now is the Chief of Staff to the governor will be the one probably in the payroll of the RSG.
It's just a matter of time. These men will have no place to hide. I only hope they have houses overseas to go for self exile.
