Good day everyone, I am a 24 year old guy who just finished NYSC in ibadan and I decided to stay back in ibadan but my parents coerced me to come back home and now they don't want want me to leave anymore.
My dad is retired and my mum is a civil servant. The family of 4 survives on her income. I have tried to all my possible best to reason with them but they are so adamant about not wanting me to go back to ibadan. I don't want to leave home without there blessing and I also don't want to stay back home because I feel I am more focused when I was not at home.

I really need your advice guys 🙏🙏

You can't just leave your parents' house just because it's what society expects of you now that you're through with your education. If only you know how many adults are out there wishing they could afford to "breathe" a little from the burdens of paying house rents.
If I were you I'd use this opportunity to plan, save and invest so that when it's time to eventually leave, there'd be no doubt you're making the right decision

Well, it all depends on what your plans are once you leave.

But, I am an advocate of guys leaving their parent's house early in life to find their paths.

I did the same, I suffered kind cos of that... But, at the long run; I gained the respect of my late than and I am happy I made that decision today.

Know that once you leave, your bills will multiply... But I velieve you can survive the storms ahead bro.

They are your parents, and if they love you as they should they'd bless you whatever you do, but more important is that you go and bless yourself.

Leave! You have enough faith you can stand on your own feet, so go find out if you can stand on your own feet.

there is two points you raised here that simplified that you were raised from good home and this portrait that you can't be easily influenced by bad gangs.

However my advice to you is that in a gentle manner seat your parents down ask them what's their plans to you ...You can even tell them you give them 30 days to answer your question.

Also what's your gender?

And more also whatever their answer maybe you will still have to leave them, although you might not be able to convince them why you need to leave until you
start making it in whenever you find yourself.

Me I left my parents when I was in SS two with purpose of writing my WAEC in another state my mum resist this move but I refused all her moves I'm paying for my waec and neco by myself. The day I want to leave she burst to crying and helped me packed my clothes gave some foodstuffs and money then pray for me.

I remember the statement she made that day she said I should know where I came from and serve God with all my heart. When I finished written my WAEC I didn't even bother to go home I just left the state went straight to lagos without known anyone.

I remember then I slept in hotel for a week before I could secured a job.later WAEC result came out of course my results was good then I collect jamb as at then there was no UTME .I was admitted into university of lagos .I went to service and I came back I got job immediately my NYSC then 3 years after I went to see my parents they were very happy to see me .

But today I'm very proud of step I took then there's no any regret and this move allows me to always taken a drastic decision whenever I want even when I want to relocate to abroad and resigned from my job some of my friends against it but today I'm happy of those decisions I taken then.

After NYSC, highest 1 or 2yrs max with your parents and you leave to find your bearing in life.. they have lived their own life, you must live yours.
What am I saying sef.. once you gain admission into higher insttitution, you're man enough to stand on your own. The wild (real life) awaits with life surprises.

If you have a good job and can afford to stay on your own, it's okay. Ideally, you could stay at home for a while and save towards settling down well later. I think that's what your parents want. They truly care for you.

Regarding this issue, I recently received a mail to come and write the aptitude test for the first bank graduate trainee program in the Ibadan location, I told my dad and he said I shouldn't go. I am really fed up at this point I don't know what to do.

Fight for your future ,dont be dumb . Take that banking job and grow from there .
