I wish Labour luck in the divided and intolerant country they’ve inherited. NHS queues are going nowhere

I agree, reform took away a lot of share of conservative votes.

Also, so many people decided not to vote.

I just checked Lizz Truss's constituency. She won with about 35,000 votes in 2019 while Labour had just over 9,000 votes.

Labour has now gained close to 4000 more votes. Where are the other voters?

She lost to labour by 600+, reform took about 9000. Labour had 11000+

I am glad that my vote counted. Labor won in both my constituency in Scotland. Enough of pot holes , smelly Glasgow…. SNP has been a nuisance for sometime now and I don’t see any change from them.

Come on Justwise. You are more than this. I honestly think you are capable of a more nuanced assumption/thinking/point of view.

Your thought (on this matter) assumes that ALL Christians think the same (or should think the same).
Your submission seem to suggest that ALL Blaxk people think the same, or should think the same.

Your argument on this issue assumes that exactly the same thing matters to All Black people.

Even your own blood brother or sister, heck even your own identical twin does not like or dislike exactly 100% of the things you like or dislike.

I am a black woman, I will vote for Trump because I like position on abortion.

I am a Christian, I voted for Nigel Farage because I like his idea of increased threshold for taxation.

Those things matter to me, because I am me. Not because I am a Christian or a black woman.

I will come back to you later

Lol, based on what? He allegedly pumped in over £100k of his own money and just about squeaked through. He's been disliked by the public ever since he was health secretary with the way (or perceived way) he dealt with junior doctors

You've got to give him credit, as at yesterday evening, he had only a 19% chance of chancing retaining his seat. Polls gave it to lib dems.

As a resident in the area, I find him very engaging. He was very involved in many local issues and this is a key reason why he won.

On a national level, he was a quiet performance. He came in a cleaned the mess of Liz Truss without making much noise, while also managing to deliver 2 tax cuts and bring inflation back down to 2% in such a short time.

On the junior doctor thing, the raise requested was deemed too significant - they ask for 35% more on top of increases they got yearly for the last two years. He also mentioned the ripple effect it could have on other groups who agreed to far lower raises as they will also come back to ask for more. May not have been a popular decision but I think this is reasonable.

Happy that my vote didn’t go to waste after all. My conservative MP retained his seat 👍.

Congratulations to Labour! I’m also pleased that Nigel Farage got in. Exciting times ahead!

Well done 😊

I could have written this post, agree 💯

My Tory MP also retained her seat which I'm happy about at local level, while I'm happy for Labour/Starmer at national level.

I'm also pleased Farage got in. Politics shouldn't be all left leaning. Exciting times (and hopefully good times) indeed 😊

Fair enough, if he's your local MP then you know him better than me and if as you say he's involved and engaging at local level, then sounds like he deserved his win. Congrats 😊

My dear Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 SNP People,
Can we now finally conclude that you do NOT have a mandate for independence?
Can we now start discussing how to make the Union work?
Can we now get on with making the UK great? Can we now talk about how Murrell & Nicola put wool over your eyes with Independence?

Come on Scotland, let’s unite and move our country forward.

Thank you very.

I am going for the tories or reform. Most likely the conservatives because the reform guy in my constituency does not appear serious. Labour will almost certainly increase my counci tax and likely will not do well in government. I also do not like how they treated JC and the Gaza issue.

Voted conservative and glad my conservative MP got re-elected with a majority of 3000+. Congrats to labour, at least they will have no excuse when they fail.

Well, NHS waitlist is getting longer. A &E wait times?when last did you see your GP? How easy is it to get appointments? Doctors are leaving in numbers and are being replaced by Physician Associates who still can't make decisions without asking the same doctors they're replacing, lol.
Good or bad for us, time will tell.
Just make sure you don't fall ill , lol.

When Labour took over power from the Conservatives in 1997, NHS waiting lists were at an all time high then, and they came down significantly under Labour. There's good reason to be hopeful that the same will happen again.

It's not because of a congratulatory message.

Both Labour UK and Nigeria are affiliated with and primarily funded by (some would say they are offshoots of) labour unions in those countries and those organisations are themselves affiliated internationally (via the ILO, etc.), so it's natural for them to work together.

I think the landscape has changed a bit, there's not enough doctors to push down that waiting list eg perform surgeries, read scans, run clinics etc. Plus very low morale and low pay amongst clinicians who are also leaving.

The Junior doctors are the backbone of the NHS, they are not paid on strike days but will still strike until conditions are more decent. Unfortunately, for every strike, the backlog increases. Hence the physician associates who still have to go back to the very few doctors.

I'll try to be hopeful, but I think medicine in the UK is looking bleak which is why doctors are leaving anyway.

It will be interesting to see how labor tackles this.

3/7/24 was 2 days ago, just hold on. Tls would send her a message soon for passport pick up.
You can go ahead and fill the visa application form and start the process while you wait on the passport.

Greetings my people.

I do not mean to spoil the post election analysis/mood in the house. But I need input in this matter.

A friend of mine drove to the driving test centre with his car (because he has been driving before his international licence expired and didn't know it was wrong to drive unaccompanied). The staff at the centre called the police and he has been charged with driving offences such as: "Driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence - endorsable offence" and " Using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance"( he was told his insurance was voided by such an act). The charge sounds serious.

Please help. He needs our advice on how to reply this plea.

He is guilty of the offence....... He should expect 6 points on his yet to arrive licence + a fine ....... He should expect a court summons in the post............

This is why we emphasize, using a driving instructors vehicle...... We can't be pennywise and pound foolish......

Oga keep your self-righteousness to yourself

Would you buy an asset now rather than later, if you expect prices to drop?

Is your problem the excitment the buyer feels at potentially snapping it up at a discount?

She is not the cause of the recession, why should she weep or decline the opportunity to buy an asset undervalued or at a again.

Very misplaced criticism. Rather than blame the government who has engineered factors that have eroded people's wealth, you are blaming the person picking up assets as a discount. This is the kind of reasoning that has kept nigeria poor and the leaders unaccountable

I really do not want to be involved in this discussion at all, because it will appear as though I am taking sides. In reality, I am not and will not! However, I still felt the need to type this regardless. Here we go (DISCLAIMER: Long post).

Now @Resurgent2016, you have made a good argument in your post, but it has one major flaw/error!!! Your argument lacks context.

It lacks context because you did not put the following things about @missjekyll into consideration:

1 The moral stance of missjekyll on the life/free/legal choices made by people she considers to be rich people/elites.

2 Missjekyll's philosophical/moral stance regarding how "wealthy" people/elites in the UK purchase property.

3 Missjekyll's political standpoint on how "wealthy" people/elites in the UK take advantage of the economy.

4 Missjekyll's anger towards how "wealthy" people/elites take advantage of the property market.

5 Her strong accusations against people taking advantage of UK's recession to buy 2nd homes.

6 Her overall deep dislike for how elites take advantage of regular folks here in the UK.

7 Her deep reservations about how elites/wealthy people take advantage of the UK's tax system (e g. Dom status)

Etc. I could go on and on, but I'd rather not make my post too lengthy.

So with the above points, it makes @missjekyll's action/post/message in 2020 appear to be UNQUESTIONABLY hypocritical and devious. If she was a UK politician, her 2020 action/post/message will have been a scandal, with the potential of causing fatal consequences for her political ambitions.

Her 2020 action/post/message paints the picture that there is no difference between herself and the same political elites/wealthy people (that she dislikes & criticizes everyday). It makes it appear that she will do exactly the same thing as they do, if she was in the same position as them. It paints her as two-faced, unprincipled and untrustworthy. It paints her as an opportunist!

PS: Now, to be fair, @missjekyll initially appeared to be sorry about her action/post/message when it was unearthed/revealed on this platform a few weeks ago. That was refreshing to see. But her responses yesterday made it seem that she no longer has any remorse for that action/post/message. In fact, she seems to be standing by it and supporting her position.

MY CONCLUSION:
Personally, I DON'T believe that @missjekyll is a bad/evil person as some persons here are accusing her to be. However, as she is someone who criticizes politicians/elites etc. based on their antecedents/past actions, she should realize that she can also be criticized on the same criteria. I will suggest she does some soul-searching and deep reflection. God knows no one is perfect (not even myself who is typing this).

Accepting, apologizing and learning from past mistakes is one of the greatest signs of a human's development. Forgive me if I am beginning to sound "preachy" at this point, but I do so in good faith (because I have had to learn from my own past mistakes as well).

FINALLY, @missjekyll, you are entitled to get angry by my post. However, be rest assured that I mean no harm. I just wanted to share an objective view shared by some of this platform's silent readers. And by the way, CONGRATULATIONS on Labour's landslide victory. I'm hoping it ushers in a new era of improved security and standards of living.

Cheers.
