You are asking HOW?

A woman was charged for murder because her boyfriend killed the child while she was at home and sleeping.

It was on FP weeks back.

If it was in the West, Davido will be liable
Was Davido at home? What's the relationship between voluntary manslaughter and accidental drowning
You all are bringing unrelated instances. Here's a similar case that happened here and no one was held liable. Both cases were ruled as accidental drowning.

Here's a better example to use. Buccaneers linebacker Shaq two years old daughter drowned similar to davido In their swimming pool and it was ruled out as an accident with no one charged.

https://people.com/parents/shaquil-barrett-daughter-dead-drowning-pool/

Let's assume you left your child with your mother/sister/Maid ( something you have done numerous times) and went off to work or an occasion only to return and the child choked or fell and died does that make you a bad parent and a bad father responsible for his death? That's basically what you are doing with Davido. He left his child in the hands of 8 maids whose sole job is to take care of his child and they failed at it. If you take your toddler to day care and something tragic happens who will be held responsible. The daycare or the parents?

Is the maid a trained child minder? Was the house a safe place for a child?

Eight maids? We all read the story. His child only had one nanny.

This is the nanny. Does this look like a professional child minder or one jjc from the village who will not know her left from her right and will be more starstruck about being in Davidos house?

When my first son was a toddler,we actually got a lady just like this. She was accident prone and was constantly getting herself injured. Within a week we let her go. Davido is a billionaire and had far more resources at his disposal. But he chose a village bumpkin to take care of his first son in a giant mansion

The lady may still be in jail to this day. Because as a wealthy bully, Davido immediately transferred the blame to her

Since you fished out one isolated case, here are several cases where there were police investigations because children died in swimming pools.

Infact Forget Sophie matter - if you have a pikin will you be comfortable allowing the kid on a play date or party at Davidos house?

Islam doesn’t favor the female gender at all, over and over it happened and they are at the receiving end

Morning Sir. This first bolded is not true ooo. Perhaps you should read/remember the state of women during the Jahiliyah period and see how Islam gave them honour. Haba! I don't think any honour can supercede that one gaskiya.

The thing is, you can't ascribe how pple treat female to be Islam. That, some pple are treating female oppresingly doesn't mean na so Islam specify. Islam is not about majority, it already have it own take even if na few pple or none dey do am.

The below was my reply to someone mentioning Islam to be by the men, of the men for the men: cry cry

If indeed it is, the religion would not have given men much responsibilities/task. Because, in an ideal settings, irrespective of the woman status, her care/security/all is the responsibility of the man. Building of the society is also the responsibility of the men. It is the same that endanger themselves to certain risk.
The 'men' religion honour women in various ways, for instance, the men who you claim has the religion have their paradise lying under the feet of a woman (the mother), the woman is entitled to inheritance (even after she is married out) baring the facts that she is to be provided for by her husband (men), the woman as a mother is entitled to more respect than the father (men). Again, even when divorced, she is to be provided for and not thrown out, for a certain period of time depending on the scenario and she can be welcomed back again depending on the type of divorce/case.

That some people are treating female bad shouldn't be ascribe to Islam abeg, rather we should attribute it to the person's shortcomings even if the person might want to hide under the name of Islam cos most pple always look for cover in their misdoings.

Islam does not treat women badly but the wife has no choice in the matter when her husband decides to marry another wife. She is expected to bear it because it is the man's right. On a woman's wedding day supposed to be the happiest day in her life, her father and imams are casually telling her husband he has the right to marry more wives if he so wishes. That is more telling than any hadiths you quote.

Islam does not treat women badly but a devout muslim was ready to divorce his wife and sieze the children (I am not sure this is even legal in shariah) and he was obviously backed by multiple imams and social media warriors

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. You can quote different hadiths about how Islam gives women rights or you can ask us about what we see with our own eyes.

The arguments about how Islam supports women actually have k leg. They reference Arab culture towards women. Arabs were burying their baby daughters alive. This was stopped due to Islam. But no one else was burying their baby daughters alive. This was limited solely to Arabs. So you can only argue that Islam made one change to stop a cruel culture that was limited to Arabs and not practised by anyone else.

If you have stopped genocide of girl babies their rights as human beings can be deferred to another time.

Haba Sir. The father/imams are only reminding/telling her about a possibility. If husband and wife practice Islam, they would both be aware of the possibility without even needing reminding.
Though, in a situation where a union from day one is with the promise that no extra wife would come, then it remain binding on the husband to uphold the promise.

Islam does not treat women badly but a devout muslim was ready to divorce his wife and sieze the children (I am not sure this is even legal in shariah) and he was obviously backed by multiple imams
Sharia court would have been in a better situation to judge. I know custody belongs to the mother pending when she remarries and all but they would both provide claim for custody and the court would decide.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. You can quote different hadiths about how Islam gives women rights or you can ask us about what we see with our own eyes.
It is why I say reality might be different but it doesn't change how Islam gave them rights. No doubt, there are some who still try to uphold the female right even if they might be few. The Koko is; let's not attribute the reality to Islam when it is not.

the school principal, a teacher and the owner of the vending machine are in jail awaiting trial over a child's electrocution.

i will ask you a simple question. if ifeanyi had died in this manner in a school swimming pool, who would be liable?

you would be calling for the head of the school proprietor

Davido built a swimming pool in his house and did not put in place measures to child proof it. he hired an inexperienced village girl as a child minder. his house is not so much a home as a frat house

he is out of the home most of the time.

you can always search parental liablity child death if you want more clarity

if imade had been staying on and off with davido , it is the same way she would have stumbled into that pool

major accidents NEVER happen in isolation. they are ALWAYs preceded by minor incidents. but negligent individuals fail to read the signs and act accordingly. what makes it worse is that this has happened before, when dbanj child died in the same manner. you would expect a parent with sense to have learned from this and put all precautions in place if a swimming pool is a must . note the emphasis on parent with sense.

if i wanted to be extra mean, i would have said ifeanyi was an inconvenience for him. what stops me from carrying my pikin with me on a social visit? the visit to the ooni was social.

What u see with people chiding Sophia’s valid argument is just what Nigerians do when their fave is involved in a matter ; they will just decide to disregard logic and go with sentiment .

Anybody who unfamiliar with our hypocrisy would think Sophia was pulling a Tonto Dike vs Churchill on Davido. Tonto literally changed the name of their child , denied the man access to the child , goes to the child’s school on Father’s Day dressed in male attire , etc

On the contrary it was Davido right from the child’s infancy that tried stealing the child from the mother . He almost succeeded in shipping the child out of the country if not for Dele Momodu’s intervention. How do u expect that same woman to trust u with the custody of the same child?

It is only logical for her lawyers to argue that a toddler in ur care was deceased and that’s a ground for u not to be granted custody .

But Nigerians with sentiments think it is a blow below the belt .

You are accusing others of sentiments when you are doing exactly that while discarding the whole context of this joint custody wahala.

1. Davido is not looking for full custody of the child, he's asking for joint custody.

2. Davido is asking for joint custody because Sophia is denying the man access to their daughter. Davido hasn't seen the child in over 1 year and everytime he request to see her, it's always one excuse after the other. Go to Twitter and see all the revelations that's coming out from the case. Even Davido father had to intervened and talk with Sophia about not denying the family access to their daughter and that one even disrespected his father. She wants to continue collecting child support from them but want to deny them access to their daughter, who will accept that.

3. Yes, the unfortunate incident happened with Ifeanyi but Davido wasn't even at home when it happened as there was carer who was tasked to take care of the son but what happened, happened but the same Imade fell sick for days when she was still breast feeding and test revealed cannabis in her blood, Sophia was tested and cannabis was found in her own blood too which means Sophia put their own daughter at risk.

4. Ifeanyi was a toddler when the accident happened (God rest his soul) Imade is not. What his asking for is joint custody and no man should be denied access to their child.

It's fine not to like Davido, but none of you siding with Sophia will accept what she's doing to Davido.

snatching children from difficult wives/concubines is a part of yoruba culture we dont talk about

i was trying to recall this story above. the child is fortunately with the mother now

it is very rich to say you are taking imade from hr mother because they found cannabis in her blood when davido the father also smokes cannabis . so what exactly is the difference here?

nothing will stop Davido and his family from snatching imade from sophia [on nigerian soil] they have shown they are capable of it

if you knew davido personally, would you let your child go for a sleepover at his place? would you allow your child to be at his place unsupervised? even where i live, i have warned my children not to go into anyones house. all play with children must be in the open i have no idea of the character of the people, but i do know they mostly have young adults living with them. no way i will allow a young girl in a house with davidos crew who casually smoke weed among other things. like i said before. his place is more of a frat house than a home.

It's fine not to like Davido, but none of you siding with Sophia will accept what she's doing to Davido.

Your last paragraph sums up everything u think this is all about. You think it’s about not liking Davido . Smh 🤦‍♂️

Is Sophia’s lawyer arguments valid or not ? Did the deceased child not die due to negligence ?

The Dabido requesting joint custody , how many days of the year do u think he spends in the house ?

The highest he should get from the court is access to his child when he’s available and the child is on holidays . The child should remain with the mother till pay the father visits when he’s available till she turns 18, then she can decide on who she wants to be with . Simple !

Nothing concern me with all those sentiments of dem no like Davido. If Sophia was anybody here’s sister and she had to go through what she went through when the child was almost taken from her , that person too will not support an arrangement that allows Davido full access to the child in which he can jolly well jet her out and the mother will see shege before seeing her child
