This man is just.... He knew well what we're referring to here but he lacks excuse to counter the whole thing, so he had to change the whole narratives to tight defending and relentless pressing. 4 Likes |

mostob: What is causing the scientific football is what I am talking about. It is the increase in physicality and speed. The only way is to play around it. Speed and intensity has made it difficult to have space for flair. |

TheGoodJoe:You hammered on speed and intensity. All that speed and intensity just to play tikitaka. As in, what is the use of the speed and intensity of all players do all day is just to make 3 or 4 yard passes? |

mostob: The speed and intensity comes with reducing the opponents time with the ball. The defensive side of the possessive play. Also, off the ball runs in attacking play. It will be a fantasy to think Ronaldinho will skate through Liverpool's gengenpress with ease. |

TheGoodJoe:If your point is a diamond, LAWMA go still trash . because it has no value. Imagine comparing Cannavaro and Stones. For all your tactical and intensity excuse let me ask you some questions? That freekick technique of Roberto Carlos, how many of your LBs can execute it? Akanji who is supposed to be technical played a ridiculous penalty yesterday? John Stones couldn't clear a simple ball and Switzerland scored? Gvardiol nko, how many times did he drop a stinker in this Euro before Croatia crashed out? Walker for England is just there. That's what scientific football has caused. It will squeeze out the players' innate and natural abilities and create a rigid system for them. You take the players out of this system and they will look ordinary. 6 Likes |

mostob: Roberto Carlos can hit a fantastic screamer but I have seen him cooked many times like of he can't even mark. Go watch Ronald de Boer cook him in France 98 so badly that his coach told him to stop trying. |

TheGoodJoe:You see all these passing and passing around teams employed today just to beat the press, it will take Ronny just a single piece of skill to break the press. You see players like Ronny and Okocha who are good dribblers, their skills are natural. Nowadays, players play under a specific system to break the press. Once this system fails. the results will be disastrous. But dribblers like Ronny, even if the system fails, they can still do many things to bail out their teams because their abilities are natural. 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe:Lol You seem to forget so easily that Messi played in this era.... Baba was breaking " press" for fun, bailed out Guardiola and his nonsense rigidity countless times with his wizardry. If Messi could break the modern press with dribbling, what do you think guys like zizou or Ronaldinho or Okocha would do?... Abeg rest this case. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:17pm On Jul 07 |
Hanibal: The most stellar Messi was in the beginning of the system and he actually was playing for it. Not against it. As time went on, Messi had to keep going deeper and cutting down on his dribbles. Towards the end of his time at Barcelona, virtually operating like a midfield passer. People mix-up early Guardiola days to the era. What we are dealing with now is after Guardiola left Bayern, where the system is totally studied and adapted. |

charlesemeka85: What people miss is that it gets coached off because it won't deliver results. In today's game, you can't jet off skating all over the field with grace and class. That time is gone. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:35pm On Jul 07 |
Hanibal: I have seen Messi on a one-on-one chance to score with gap and Pepe run, meet up with Messi and collect the ball. Last season, we saw a case where Rodrygo was through on goal, and Akanji pursued him and retrieved the ball. The game is faster now. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:38pm On Jul 07 |
do4luv14: Ronald de Boer. Netherlands vs Brazil. Cook Carlos, stew him on top. If you watched the goal Kluivert scored, Ronald de Boer crossed that ball without being marked because Carlos was asked to leave him and go and defend the goal. Because he was almost invisible. If I remember right, Kluivert's header went through Carlos leg. |
