If only Lagos can utilize all the resources at its disposal, it will be competing with New York and Dubai. But it is a glorified slum.
Lagos should not develop too fast or else all the yeebos will abandon their potopoto region and migrate to Lagos. We have enough population already.

Does that change the fact?
Revenue flow is everything. Why did Dubai not develop until they discovered oil?
Or you don’t know that Abu da bi which is the real capital of UAE was like ikorodu until recently.

Lagos was a former capital territory.

Former capital since when? Apart from the 3rd mainland bridge, there's really no mega project done by the FG even when it was the capital.

70% of developments in Lagos today are undertaken by the state government, e.g. the light rail, several overhead bridges, Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge etc...

Sanwo Olu isn't even doing much, but Fashola and Ambode's works remain clearly visible.

I'm looking at the surrounding area and the roadway... why is it elevated? It is not an urban area with the highway cutting across busy streets and smaller roadways. Flyover mentality still in effect.

Do you know what it means to have seaport, SEC , central bank, all federal ministries, Dondan barracks, MMIA, National studium, head office of all oil companies, etc in one small location ( land mass) like Lagos?

If Lagos is a slum, I wander what that will make Anambra and Abia state grin

Why are you even defending Lagos right, left and centre?

Are you from Lagos?

Are you not from Oshun State?

Rest! There are seaports in Lagos cos of the coastline, even the state government has built a new one...stop bickering over a geographical advantage. If your state lacks a coastline or sea, build dry ports and connect with rails, common sense. Same seaports are in Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Rivers etc. What's the benefit of Dodan Barracks to the development of Lagos? Are there no barracks in your state? 😏

If you like, don't hold your state governors accountable and keep telling yourself that everywhere has to be a former capital...

You asking the importance of Dodan barracks to the development of Lagos shows you don’t even know where the seat of power was in Nigeria. Where the affairs of every part of the country was discussed . It was from there that the federal resources trickled down to other states. It just like asking what is the relevance of Aso Rock to development of Abuja.

You people keep confusing Lagos FCT with Lagos state.
Did you even know that all the time Lagos was FCT it's still had its own governor , elected ?
Which is not the case with Abuja.
The part of Lagos that was FCT cannot be said to be undeveloped, they are the most developed parts of Lagos .

Before you accuse me of shifting grounds, read my comments slowly and read to comprehend

Lagos state is not a former Federal Capital Territory. Opebi where this bridge is located was never at any point under federal capital administration. Stop the lies and hold your useless SE governors accountable.

I don't know why some of you choose to remain comprehensively stupid or intentionally mischievous. Calabar was NEVER 'federal' capital of Nigeria as we know it.

Calabar was merely the administrative capital of SOUTHERN NIGERIA for only six years (1900 –1906), until the British colonists moved the administrative headquarters to Lagos in 1906 just before the amalgamation of Northern and Southern Nigeria, and Lagos has remained capital ever since!

In the present context, do you know how retaarded and annoying you typically clever by half Yoruba elements sound by retorting that yen yen yen, Calabar was also former capital city of Nigeria? I just can no longer tolerate you nuisances.
