My dad was a soldier on the biafran side in the civil war. He is still alive today. Everything you wrote here is true especially the fact that the then western regional crisis was the purveyor of the war.

Truth is there is nobody who can dispute what you wrote. This is the simple reason history was deleted from being a subject in schools curriculum. They will try to bend the truth all they like but it will remain sacrosanct.

You have done extremely well in dispensing information to the less informed. You can rest easy knowing this thread has made its impact now and will in future days.

They will try to bend the truth but we know better. Sad history was deleted from school curriculum but I think recently they have started to bring it back though not yet widely spread cos I thought history while I was still a teacher ( especially in primary school )

For the first time in Nigeria’s history, we have a politician that has absolutely clean slate, a politician u cannot find cockroaches in his cupboard, a politician that corruption cannot blackmail into silence or looking away. A politician that stood at his campaign stand and said people always say politicians are not saints, but if anybody can find anything on him, he would step down his nominations as president. They searched heaven searched earth absolutely nothing.

A politician that behaves opposite to other politicians, they try to see if they could use his past affairs with women to bring him down, they searched high and low if they can find just one runs girl he has paid to just use her story, it didn’t work.

For people to look an 8years governor that was appointed by the federal government into position and say he is stingy just know he is him. People always have good things to say about politicians when they work with them, cause they know it’s share the money. This man is totally different. One of a kind and he exists in Nigeria.

He exists in igbo land, a man that does not steal, has never taken bribe. Has never used tout to disrupt any election process. That they even interrogated every single IGP or army that worked with him, just give us one thing to nail this man. They couldn’t.

At a time when Nigerians are hungry, when people are committing suicide over hunger, it’s right for me to call a man, that won’t be building VP house of 12billion while people are dying of hunger, that won’t be increasing electricity bills for people who are suffering while buying new presidential jet.
We need a president that would make civil servant, custom officers, nnpc workers, Efcc staffs, police igp etc look like normal citizens. We need a man that would mk all them say omen this man is stingy,

Not one that would tell them go and raid, destroy and extort. Na we dae power.

I didn’t call the politicians name, but anybody reading this knows him.

This man exists and people voted in someone else.

When u ask what the man offence is some will say his people did sth in 1966, another will say they did Biafra one would say he is ipob.

Just imagine

This also reminds me of how Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari were cleverly packaged before they became President.

Until the masses put aside their differences and stop heaping their hopes on political prostitutes and give these politicians and public servants tight marking. We’re in for long term suffering.

Sincerely the Lugardian cage called Nigeria shoulld just be dissolved...make we go answer our papa name! Truly what do yorubas and Igbos have in common sef? Why orubas continue to subject themselves to the presence of ndigbo in their beloved nigeria is still a mystery to me! Convince your ulani cousins to hasten and dissolve the useless union!

Even northerners reading my post, I urge any northerner that says I am distorting history. To come at me, open ur thread and let’s talk.

I came prepared.

If anybody asks the north what exactly is the offence of igbos, they will tell you Igbos killed sarduana Ahmadu bello and tafawa balewa in 1966. When Ahmadu bello and Tafawa balewa used their positions to destabilise the west, and unjustly sentenced Ahmadu bello for their crimes, nobody ever says northerners destabilise the west. When these guys were the first set of people to bring instability to Nigeria, nobody says that either.

But when a set of military officers acting in their own accord do sth, it’s Igbos. I am not in support of the killing but let’s look at that.

Northerners for long have been attacking igbos unprovoked long before 1966 happened. In 1960 Nigeria got independence, everybody was happy a chance for a new start, let God bless us all and let’s build the nation of our dreams. Northerners unprovoked didnt stop their resentment. They went as far as their leaders going on international tv to be spreading ethnic bigotry.

A premier of a region, going to say igbos are trying to dominate, his definition of igbo domination is, if a man comes to a place, he would work hard to succeed and try to rise up the ranks.

Northerners judge for urself, is a man’s willingness to succeed in life a bad thing? Is this an excuse for resentment?

Y were northern leaders doing that to their fellow countrymen unprovoked.

January 1966 came, and the deaths happened, July 1966 came and you had your revenge. Y then did u people attack the civilian population that had nothing to do with it. You have had ur revenge, y then are u pushing to destroy or annihilate. There were retaliations in the east no doubts.

Every single attempt for peace was destroyed by the north, as they continued to renegade agreements upon agreements. You renegade on ur agreement and same you still blames us for you not keeping to ur word. Same you still blame us for self preservation by declaring Biafra.

Let us be sincere with ourselves.

Then 50years later you would tell us we can’t become president because of what happened in 1967 that we declared Biafra, a problem That your own people caused technically.

What is this called?

Slytiger:

1. Ibos were not the only people in the army, all the counter coup consisted of Northern military officers 😂

2. Ironsi surrounded himself with his kinsmen after the coup.
At the early stage of his tenure, he appointed a three-man advisory team made up of Chief Francis Nwokedi, a Permanent Secretary, Dr. Pius Charles Nwabafor Okigbo (1924-2000) and Colonel Patrick Anwunah, who later became Chairman and Head of the Orientation Committee at that time.

He replaced the then Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Taslim Olawale Elias (1914-1991) with Chief Gabriel Chike Michael Onyiuke (SAN), former Director, Public Prosecution, Eastern Nigeria (1960-1965) from Nimo in the present Anambra state.

3. Out of the 22 killed in the coup, only 1 was Ibo. The premier of the eastern region Michael okpara was even spared unlike the premiers of the west and north that were murdered.

4. The handing over of the government to Ironsi by Orizu (the acting president and the senate president who could have called for the formation of another civilian government).

5. The unification decree of May 1966 promulgated by Ironsi, leading to the abolition of regional system of government - Historically speaking, the West and North have always believed in the regional system of government as the best form of government for a multiethnic like Nigeria, however this was taken away by Ironsi, leading to a massive outrage and pogrom in the North. Unification decree favoured the ibos as they don't stay in their region like the others.

6. The coup plotters were kept in Jail but weren't sentenced to death.

You people should stop trying hard to revise history.

No matter the number of times even your own people tell you the truth about that coup, you will refuse to accept the truth because it goes against your perceived bias. There is no how Igbos could have conceived the idea to conquer and rule over Nigeria through that coup when they were not even the majory; their population could never have withstood that post coup. Only pure madness. It is impossible and unfathomable. They will need either the backing of Britain and some other colonial powers at that time to pull that stunt. Even at that, they won't try it because of the larger Nigerian masses they will have to face. Except every Igbo man in every corner of the world was armed to face the repercussions. Still, they won't try it.
But the truth about that coup is open for all to see. The crisis in the west remains the primary cause of that crisis.

You should be grateful that that coup happened. Your region was headed for destruction but for that coup that put a stop to that madness of operation weti e, the wild wild west. Akintola and Balewa was planning for more military actions against the supporters of Awolowo, but for the timely intervention of the coup which put a stop. Those coupists were against Balewa and Akintola plans and were in favour of Awolow. Read the below and be enlightened.
