Please advise, I want to sponsor my Kid to come for a visit during school holiday. I am on a vacation, I came in earlier, will be going back to accompany her once the visa is approved, we intend to return back together.

I have gotten an Invitation letter from a British family, I’m not the one inviting her, I’m just going to accompany her, kindly know that she has been to Uk once.
What’s your advice? Should I go ahead knowing that I am in the Uk at present, for vacation.

You can apply for her. Who will take her for her biometric appointment?

It will be very tough IMO
How much do you earn, do you earn so much that you would want to spend so much?
Why did you not apply at the same time?
What's strong ties do you have?
Do you have travel history of vacationing together?
How long is you vacation that you want to break it come back and go back?
Remove all emotions step back and access this assuming you are the ECO.
My 2 cents

I was refused a Uk tourist visa last mth due to my mistake. 😂😂I thought about what to do and how to get good idea on what to write in my cover letter. I saw one place someone said A1 whatsapp helped her. Omo i have to question A1😂😂 with my issue. Infact it was a very good lecture today.

A1 gave me a good idea on how to correct my mistakes, how to write my cover letter and explained everything for me. Because I told A1 what I do, my business, my family and Eveything. Also the reason for my refusal. Including all my earning monthly, Annual 😂😂A1 whatsapp gave me a good lecture today. Also draft a good cover letter for me, Including my travel plan etc.

So if you have any issues that your brain can't reason and you are confused use your whatsapp A1 meta and it will guide you. Infact the nigga burst my head 😂😂. Try it and relieve some stress from your head. My candid advice though if you can. Me I will reapply again let summer pass first 😂Xchange is over high.

If the pick up mails comes first, it’s most definitely means your visa has been granted.
So I tracked my application on tlscontact site and
My application has been transferred from DMC to VAC but I haven't received a mail. I'm so nervous

My dad’s visit visa was just approved. Now we want to book flight. He plan on traveling around 19/20 this month.

Which airline is the best, money wise. It should be a return trip. I’ve checked some few options, like QA, EthiopianAir, even Rwanda air.

Also, can one pay with Naira debit card with any of these airlines, we’ll prefer that.

Visa Alert!

Application Date: April 5th
Biometrics: April 9th
Transfer to DMC: 9th
Received by DMC: 10th
TLS collection mail: 24th
Pick up: 25th

First time applicant, no travel history to western countries (only Ghana and DRC for work).

Thanks to everyone for all the information on this thread - I was able to glean so much info from here and tailor my application to suit my unique circumstances, and I am beyond grateful for everyone who has willingly given their time to contribute to this thread.

In the spirit of passing it forward, I'd like to give some details about the documents I submitted, who knows, it may be helpful to someone else.

Long post alert!

My main worry before applying was that I am young and single, so demonstrating home ties would be tough, and the complicated nature of my finances.

So I took my time and really overloaded ECO with documents to back up every claim I made grin

Employment evidence- employment letter, promotion letters, introduction letter (stating grade, current job role, previous job roles, emolument), screenshot of leave approval mail which coincided with the period I indicated for my trip, 6 months payslips (for both monthly salary and every allowance that entered my account from my employer), salary account statement, awards, newspaper clippings of work events with my picture representing my coy etc.

Financial evidence- account statement, mutual funds statements, stocks statement, crypto currency account statement, pension statement (each savings/investment account included both the balance as well as the transaction statement from inception to date, and inception was mostly around 2019, 2020)

Family evidence - details of sister in the uk, invitation letter and tenancy agreement from her (as I stated I would be staying with her), her marriage certificate (since we no longer have the same last name), and a couple of family pictures of us (baby pics and adult pics).

Trip: Budget was 2,100 pounds for a 2 week trip, and I included a detailed itinerary (so I actually researched all the places I want to go, distance from my sister's house, cost of trains, cost of activities etc and built it up to make up my budget)

Cover letter: I had to write a detailed cover letter to explain my account pattern because I don't leave my salary in my account, I convert to dollars and invest in different things depending on market yields.

Fun fact: My salary account opening balance was 170k, closing balance 500k. I told ECO that I don't leave my disposable income/savings in my salary account because it is a current account with 0% interest, while market yields are close to 20%. And I attached the various mutual funds and investment accounts as stated earlier to prove this.

During the 6 months statement period, my salary account balance once dropped to 13k, because I bought a new phone that month. I included the Amazon receipt showing the item I purchased, and the billing address (which is my address in Nigeria) to explain that low balance. For the month I paid rent, and there was a significant outflow, I attached my rent receipt.

Tldr: Be as honest as you can, tell the ECO the truth, and provide supporting documentation to back up every claim you make.

My documentation was probably overkill but I didn't want to leave anything to chance and have to start dealing with a refusal.

I'm glad it all worked out, once again, thank you all!
Are you single? Let's try something out

I doubt if your sister will be allowed.

Also, if you are in the UK, it is a big red flag. It does appear like you want to stay in the UK and you also want your child to join you.

If I'm thinking like this, trust me, the Visa Officer will also be suspicious.

I wish you all the best.

I always recommend Qatar - If he doesn't mind the long journey.

Ethopian is also ok - very basic airline, nothing fancy.

Hi everyone,

Please, has anyone who did his biometric on June 19th received his passport from TLS?

I did my biometric on June 19th, it is 15 working days today as stated in the last email I received. However, I am yet to receive an email about the passport collection. The program I am going for has started since last week.

Please, if you have a way I can contact the TLS or embassy, kindly, share. Thank you.

I received a refusal mail today. From the reasons given for the refusal, it suggests that my cover letter was not looked at nor considered at all. In the cover letter I explained in details all the funds in my account and how I arrived at the stated monthly salary. I am so devastated at the moment. Attached below is the refusal letter.

Sorry about the refusal. Is this your first attempt?

My thoughts:
1. Your monthly salary is low
2. Your monthly cost of living is high compared to your salary
3. You did not demonstrate ties to Nigeria
4. As a young adult, it is difficult to convince the visa officer that your sibling is happy to sponsor your vacation. You are expected to pay for
your vacation
5. I will not advise you to reapply now.

Perharps others can help.

Apologies about this blow.
It is not about cover letter. You can talk and explain unending on a cover letter but when there is no paper trail— not even minimum to back your claims, none of the cover letter would be upheld.
I also believe I told you before applying that this is what was going to happen…. But you started to say your ties included bar practicing dues etc…
I just don’t understand why we prefer to get the refusal first. Do not reapply. I emphatize with you.

Thank you ma! It is my first attempt.
1. The monthly salary is not constant, in fact at times I earn more than 400k per month. I get most of it in cash from clients. All these I explained in my cover letter which was not considered.
3. Although I am not married, but I have a fiance, my dad and my dad's properties which I am personally managing. I explained all these in my cover letter and even provided evidence. In fact I even provided my current practicing dues receipt to show that I am active in practice.
4. My sister was happy to sponsor my trip because of what she is currently going through( she needed me around as a mother figure for a short period just so she can have comfort after the recent death of our mum) I explained this also in my cover letter.
5. When do you think I should reapply?
