Good morning house
Please I kind of need an advice from y’all in the Uk
I’m a software developer (mobile app developer) in Nigeria with two years of experience and I currently earn about 500k.
I started making plans on coming to the Uk via study route and I’m currently in the stage of applying for my visa. I have been very optimistic about this but last night I spent a long time thinking about it as I’m really worried about the situation I read about the Uk and where they stand with immigration.

I have been following this thread for months to understand what it’s like over there and I really hope I get a response. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾

You have the greatest chance to apply for work from Nigeria as software developer. Why are you coming in as a student? I would say be patient and continue applying. When applying(target locations that are not popular) Also try Canada as other people have mentioned.

Looking for a esusu group...... Look no further, Bloom money to the rescue...... It's all automated and seamless........

Simply download the app from your store, complete registration process and search for a circle you want to join......

For every £100 contribution, a commission of £4 would be charged......😜🤣

This particular candidate is real. He said he didn't have a picture with the correct tie. He lives 300 miles away from where he was standing, though.

I wouldn't vouch for the others.

The 5 reform poopheads MPs were going to walk in a file into parliament like gangsters however they arrived late and had to stand outside. Hilarious 😂

I am usually happy to negotiate and find common ground but I draw the line at the far right. We throw hands on sight 😤 . No apologies

Whereas people on the ‘far-right’ could be despicable, I reckon people on the ‘far-left’ are equally despicable.

Not sure you will be proud to write this in your Labour Party WhatsApp group chat or even, let your employer know that you use such language and threats against people who disagree with your politics.

I know a girl who just got her BRP email. She should be arriving soon. She is a mental health nurse, band 6.

I hear she is looking for husband too.

Let me tag her, hopefully you two can link up, as soon as you leave your hotel room.

@rock86: any interest?

Why don't you bring an international wife with you along with your international driving permit? UK women are too troublesome, best to source one locally before you come grin

Starmer isn't playing, he would instantly deselect any MP or member who was exposed with this type of speech. No one is going to deprive him of a second term in government 😂

Please, I need guidance on documents to upload for a skilled worker visa (maintenance technician).

Do I need to upload any documents under the study evidence?

Also, do I need to upload any documents under the employment evidence, like the job offer and my CV?

Nigel Farage's "Well you're not laughing now." quote came to mind when I read your comment. It took 17 years but he got it done, took the UK out of the EU. It is comments like that that makes people move far right, when "you throw your hands on sight",legitimate concerns are not listened to and you dismiss other people's views because they don't align with your politics. You can actually win these people over to your side.

Inasmuch as I don't agree with you on a lot of your politics, I have learnt some and considered my stand on some issues.

We don't have to repay UK for axed deal - Rwanda

Rwanda has said it is not required to refund the UK after a multi-million pound migrant deal between the two countries was scrapped.

New UK Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer announced at the weekend that the plan to deport some asylum seekers to Rwanda was "dead and buried".

The scheme was forged by the previous Conservative government, which since revealing the plan in 2022 has paid Rwanda £240m ($310m).

The following day, a spokesperson for Rwanda's government told the country's state television: "Let this be clear, paying back the money was never part of the agreement."

Alain Mukuralinda said the agreement "did not stipulate" money should be refunded and that the UK had approached Rwanda and requested a partnership, which was "discussed extensively".

I have no common ground with racists and fascists at all. "Throw hands on sight " is slang for my 1st sentence. You need to get with the program .
I still think they are scummy though. Not everyone deserves to be reasoned with.

Do you want my employers number?

Wow thank you for putting so much thought into your response. I’m grateful 🙏🏾
I thought nairaland will send notifications when I get a reply but I didn’t so I missed this and every other reply.
I’m not married yet but my girlfriend is a nurse and we’re working towards her getting a job next year.
I’m motivated to keep pushing.

Also big thanks to every other person that replied me. I appreciate every response.

lightofjoy:
I understand your fear couple with
1. High exchange rate
2. High Visa and IHS fee,
3. UK uncertain immigration terrain,
4. Possibility of getting a high paying job with sponsorship in UK.

With all the above said, your skill-set should be the foundation of your decision because it is the pointer to how well you will get a good job that can offer you sponsorship, this with the Grace and Help of God. It is your marketing/selling point.

I was in your shoe in 2022, had doubts, leaving my job (I work with a telecom firm then), leaving my business (I have a privately run business then though I still do it on part time now), selling my cars, converting my houses to full tenement apartment (One of them I build it as if I will be living there), how will I be able to get a good job here, resettling my family without issues.

I took the difficult decision and today I thank God I took the decision. Though we are not where we want to be yet but the path is already looking good and rewarding.
Below are my advise:
1. Study a course that tally with your Nigeria experience because that will be your selling point here.
2. You are it Tech (IT), I think you should have no issue here. I am also in tech too but not IT and I can tell you the sector has a lot of rewards and it gets better as you progresses.
3. If your wife is a qualify teacher or a Nurse/Doctor/Medical field/Engineering, this gives you a better hope. But if not, don't worry, have Faith and God will come through for you.
4. If you finally come to UK, try to graduate with a very good grade, It get why. I am a living witness.
5. Believe in yourself and know that failure is not an option.
6. Like some people suggested, you can also try Canada (though not sure but I use to hear that it's a bit easier there).

Best of luck.
Sorry for the long epistle, just wanted to pass a message across to you.
Apology in case of any typo.
