There is nothing like LCDA , it's just a term for a supposed agency in Lagos State, it's like a community development committee of any community elsewhere. Either the committee gets subvention from those who formed it or seek donations from wealth individuals of the community.

Area council is directly funded by a stake from the 52% budgetary allocation due the Feds.

What is the fuse about these as regards to the court ruling. It clearly stipulated the LGAs in Nigeria and non of those you stated. That Lagos has been using some funds from the LGA to fund LCDA has nothing to do with ruling.

It's either they start funding them with the small income they get from the FG or from their IGR. But I think the LCDAs should be scraped, they are doing the same job the LGAs are doing.

LCDAs were created out of LGAs. The law creating the LCDAs already made provisions for how allocation will be shared. The money will go into the designated LGA account and it will then be shared among the LDAs created out of the LGAs.

Do you even understand what financial autonomy means? The chairman is accountable to the counsellors and not to the State Governor or other non-constitutional creation and who would give their LGA allocation to the State Governor?

but the LCDA is funded from LGA allocations, the LCDA might not get funding direct from FG but whatever the LG gets by the state law that forms LCDA has to be shared to all LCDA under the LG.

Local govt development areas (LGDA) are offshoot of constitutionally recognized LGA. So the main local govt areas will be funding LGDA created out of them.

It is not a hard rule to deal but it gonna be cooperative and corroborative effort where gov and chairmen of LGA in a state will work together for common good of their people

New LCDA will be created and funded by the concerned LGA if the need be.

The Lagos state Government has been committing heist since the times of Bola by forcefully collecting money from the coffers of the 20 LGAs to share to LCDAs that was the reason OBJ stopped allocation to the 20LGAs in Lagos until supreme Court rule that the Feds don't have the right to stop allocation to the LGAs of Lagos State and also affirmed Lagos state has 20 LGA. So Lagos has to change it to a community development committee but still went ahead to steal the LGA money and sent them to the LCDA because they were operating a joint account.

Going forward, 20 LGAs will be receiving their money directly from Feds and the highest Lagos State government could do is tell them to donate for the LCDAs since these LCDAs are also under the LGAs. Some LGA have 3 LCDA under it, but should opposition take over the LGA that illegal payments will no longer exist.

you do realize that states are allowed to create their own laws right? Laws that are specific to that state.....they don't have to refer to the constitution to be legal....for example in Lagos it's a criminal offense to participate in underage marriage but move up north and the situation is different.....this is despite fact that there's an act protecting against child marriage in the constitution but if a state refuses to enact it under its own state laws it does not apply.....and who is telling you that if opposition should take over an LG they would stop funding the LCDA you think APC runs all the LG in Lagos ? I can't remember the LG but I know there's one run by PDP in Lagos.....if they stopped funding the LCDA you think anyone will vote them in again? Or you think despite this judgment if a governor hears that an LG chairman Is withholding funds he can't have him removed and call for fresh elections? In this Lagos that one LG budget for the year on the Mainland alone is 18 billion naira you will now say you're not funding the LCDA....lol.....na the landlord associations go first slap you before they drag you go Alausa.....

Grassroots BE VIGILANT....Once you see your LG allocation as published, query it. Some current Chairmen, on the instructions of some hitleric governors, may still find a way to return the funds to their governors. DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN!

The local govt autonomy legal process was sponsored by the federal govt under TINUBU. This is a part of the structural process of the TUNUBU govt came to put in place.

Next will be creation of more states and proper integration of the LCDA into the ALGON.
