I firmly believe Nigerians have the most correct intonation of English among African countries. Most other non-european and or Americans don't even come close.
Hell no! "comb" for "come"? "where arts you"? no no no no

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ That's a good one Jace.

I'm not getting involved in this one - as South Africans we're very confident in our own languages and the use/misuse of the English language. Countries without white populations can keep competing amongst themselves about who speaks English like the queen of England. So embarrassing πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆ

Speaking good English is one thing, trying to sound British (or like queen Elizabeth or prince Charles) with your West African tongue is another. I sometimes watch their news channels and the forced British or American accents over there make me cringe all the time - can't watch for over 2 minutes.

I dont believe its necessary trying to argue who has a better english accent. the irish, scottish and welsh dont bother about such arguments despite being in the UK with the english. we are africans. whatever way our english sounds is nothing to be ashamed about. feeling superior over other africans because you think your english sounds better is comical. even in england, there are different accents. every african should be proud of how their accent comes out when they speak english. we are not english. so let our accents show who we are

Tafawa balewa had the best diction of any Nigerian leader.....that guy was pure class grammatically......all the politicians if that era were all very eloquent until the military came and bastardised our conscientious patrimony.....the standards really began to drop.

I completely disagree with the opinion Ghanaians have intonation as good as ours. Not especially with all those their accent for their distorted English terms. Watt for what. Lol

But all their presidents speak far more pristine English than anyone we have had since balewa.
