State Govs have no other option than to grant the 774 LGAs their autonomy in line with the Supreme Court ruling else FG will seize all States allocation.

This matter has been settled by the Supreme Court already. It is ultra vires for FG to seize STATES allocation for any reason.

The new ruling is on local government funds, not states allocation.

Nothing to review let all states conduct election in all LGs of the federation so that they can have access to their fund. No elected chairman no fund. Period

They have got to accept the ruling.
The Federal government has been empowered by the ruling to withhold the Local government funds until an elected officials are in place.

This Tinubu seems to be a master of the game. Nigerian don't seems to understand this judgement. This is real restructuring. It is true the LG are not in a good shape now. With time, responsible persons will go into local governments through elections and the society will be able to see them and get them to account for whatever they are doing with the resources of the local government. If we can get it right at the local government level, Nigerians will start seeing real governance.

Oga Soludo you better go and quickly organize LG elections before next month otherwise no LG funding for your state.....🤣🤣🤣.....dey dere dey review judgment

The constitution says something else in Section-162: Sub-Sections 5, 6, 7, & 8..

The Supreme-Court might have banned the State Governments and any of their appointed officials from drawing from the special joint account.

The funds can only be operated where there are duly elected LG chairmen and councilors.

Not just the Chairman...it applies to almost all the civil servants in the North. Fridays are public holidays for me.

Because there's no money for him to work with. You can't blame him. His governor only give him money for salary payments and his own allowance and that's it.
If these guys have their money, they'd be forced to work. Who doesn't like to be attributed to a project?
And besides, it'll be easier for people to chase after LG chairman who's not doing anything with their funds and demand his exit from office than a state governor. His councilors will impeach him. So relax, it's a welcome development.

Now state governors will have to seat up. No more free windmill. No more excess unaccounted funds.
