LG Fiscal Autonomy........who Is To Take Accolades ? by Atuero(m): 5:34am On Jul 13
I am a little bit skeptical and confused as regards the way Tinubu supporters have been rejoicing over the supreme Court judgement on the financial Autonomy of the local government in Nigeria which has been existing in the Constitution of the land but neglected over the years.

The question that comes to my mind is since the Judiciary is an independent arm of Government, are they not the body to take the accolades for such courageous and historical judgement?........... those praising Tinubu on the judgement, doesn't it mean He interferes and influences the Judiciary?

I don't think this is part of the responsibility of the executive arm of Government who should be busy making policies and developing strategies that will make life easy for the citizens.

If financial Autonomy of the local government in Nigeria has been existing in the Constitution of the land but neglected over the years but someone took step for it not to be neglected... So the person who finally took the step to make sure financial autonomy become possible for the LGAs do not deserve to be praise?

This process of Autonomy was started under his predecessor and I think the Judiciary that has the final say deserves the glory

The process of Autonomy was not started under Buhari. The national assembly under Jonathan and Buhari also tried to grant finacial autonomy to the LGAs, but they failed woefully.

People like you are so irritating. You're the first clown I will see make this kind of irritating comment.

When Buhari paid LG money directly to LG accounts, the Governors dragged the FG to the supreme court and got a favourable judgement.

Right now, Tinubu has not only made sure LGAs get their funds directly, LG Chairmen can't be sack by Governors.

It's an insult for you to claim the person who made this possible do not deserve a praise.

The judiciary that legislate on this contentious and sensitive national issue should take the accolades though it is understandable that the Tinubu's government must have influenced this decision to whittle down the powers of the power-drunk NGF.

Head or tail, this judgment would benefit the Nigerian masses and the nation as a whole, knowing that the LG autonomy would reduce infrastructural gap and improve community security hence some degree of food security.

Are you saying that Tinubu influenced the judgement?

Please who took the case to judiciary and proved it beyond reasonable doubt? Tinubu initiated the case so what's your problem. Judiciary will never adjudicate on the issue not bring before them.

What makes you think the standard of living would change?

It would be worse and Tinubu would take the blame like fuel subsidy removal
