Mcslize: My stands are based on facts bros... Below is the link to the latest 189 draw. You can see the lofty cut off points for Engineering occupations https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skillselect/invitation-rounds As at early 2023, 65 points as an Electronic Engineer was enough to get you a 491 invitation to Canberra. Even 70 would get you a 190 invitation in the same occupation at that time. From mid/late last year, a whole lot changed, with most states/provinces now talking about "target occupations". A quick check-in on their websites would reveal that most Engineering professions are not included. These are the hard facts ...... Mcslize: How would a tornado happen when the allocations for the year are already set lower than 2023-2024 allocations, which was even more than the 2022-2023 "tornado" year? Mcslize: The truth is that the Australian Immigration system is currently overwhelmed and the decision to "control" net migration has significantly increased competition for invitation places to astronomical levels... The fact remains - for most professions, invitation chances are better with a minimum of 85 points.... It is what it is.... People should be fully aware of how the system is - it would assist non-sentimental applicants in making informed decisions. I really don't know how to give sugar-coated advice Facts are facts! 1 Like

blackbriar: Maybe? Have you seen the current allocations for the 2024/2025 FY in comparison with last FY year that was very competitive? Cut off points ain't dropping bro - peeps should aim to score higher to boost their chances. Na only very few professions (mostly Artisan) dey get invites with low points It is what it is! |

Jamiuokolaa: Last round that occurred, Engineers got invited with 90 & 95 for visa 190. This is a sign of hope. Election is coming by May 2025. We just entered this financial year. Things will ease out with time. Just be patient. Between now and next financial year after the forth coming election of 2025, things will return to normal. You can't because of that to start telling people not to bother to do their assessments. The earlier they do their assessments and jump on the queue, the better. No amount of discouraging words should deter those who truly know what they want to chicken out when the system hasn't outrightly written them off. The system says 65. Nothing should stop anyone from putting in expression of interest if they meet the general required points. It's more like telling someone not to look for a job because they feel there are no jobs. In life you can't use other people's stories to write yourself off. Things work differently with different people. Some people carry grace o. Forget competition. Who gives up has himself to blame in the long run. 1 Like |

Mcslize: I ask again - how would cut off points reduce when the allocations for 2024/2025 is lower than 2023/2024 that was very competitive? What impact would post election have on the facts on ground? Are you not seeing the numbers? Mcslize: The ones that are serious about getting invited would be looking to increase their points in the already saturated and competitive system...all in a bid to boost their chances... especially if their occupation is highly competitive. For those in the above category that cannot increase their points due to one reason or the other, they need to be aware of their chances before spending huge sums of money on skills assessment Mcslize: Apples and oranges comparison.... It's more of a case of Federal government setting Jamb cut off at 160 for all courses across Federal universities and a candidate who can't score more than 165 wants to study Medicine, hoping on grace because the cut of points is 160 afterall and his Friend got admission with 160 to study Fine Art the previous year. Nigerians and our uncanny tendencies of putting religion and sentiments ahead of facts and figures is a topic that needs to be studied as a thesis project 1 Like |

Please let us all be mindful of the language we use. We all cannot share the same opinion about a matter. We should all learn to agree to disagree with one another. We view things differently. We can engage respectfully and still disagree on issue. Please let us be guided. 1 Like |

Jamiuokolaa: Bro. The Points were this high also pre-Covid. Then COVID happened and the borders were shut for 2 years. net zero migration. Many Projects on hold because no workers. The Borders opened and the point reduced to 65 points. Doctos and Teachers were on the priority list, even engineers received ITAs on 65 points. The elections are coming up, and everyone is talking of the chinese and indians buying up all the properties, and making the property market to expensive for the locals ( I still don't know why they can't just build more houses). Anyways this made immigration a focal point in the election campaigns, This I belive was pivotal to the points going up again. Like everyone has been advising. Submit a qualitative appplication and wait. Also have a plan B. We are not here to argue. Just to help ourseleves in a little way we can. And as such, encouragement is part of being helpful. Just My Humble 2 cents. Thanks. |

Jamiuokolaa: Allocations can be changed. It's not lay on bricks. They work according to demand. Like I said, people are still getting grants and invites like water. You can't just tell people to dump something they have embarked on and look else where simply because you feel the competition will deprive them of invites. I will always advise everyone never to get discouraged with whatever rumours flying around. Only the patient ones will scale through. If you don't have any negative ulterior motive, I don't see any reason why you should be so bent on this your campaign. Not that it will change people's minds any way. It's a win win for everyone who stick to the race till the end. Like I said, invites and grants are still flying around. It's left for you to chicken out.

Mcslize: Like I said earlier, I am only responsible for what I type and not what you understand... If the truth seems like negativity to you, too bad. I know there are less-sentimental people here (both regular posters and guests) who have read the exchanges and would be grateful for the insights below.. Jamiuokolaa: Even the examples you posted below indirectly implies that mostly peeps with high 80-90 points (occupation dependent) have better chances of getting invited/granted - a further testament to what I have been saying

To everyone who is in this race, don't let anyone discourage you. Just focus on the process and stop listening to discouraging rumours and words flying around. Everyone to his own. It's not going to be easy, but there is definitely hope for everyone who stays focused. When I was seeking admission in those days, that was how people kept discouraging others by saying that admission through direct entry is difficult, the competition is high, they don't admit many students. I just read and stayed focused doing my thing. In the end, that same competitive direct entry process people said was very difficult, especially in a federal university, was what I used to secure admission into a federal university. I started following this Australia thread right from when I secured an admission in 2014 as a direct entry student into a federal university to study Chemical Engineering after obtaining a National Diploma in Biomedical Engineering. This was after previously rejecting 3 admissions. As we all know, this thread was an extension of a formal Australia migration thread. That was when the idea of migrating to Australia crossed my mind. You can see how patient I have been all these years, making sure that I do my due diligence to obtain my qualifications. I waited like a patient dog. After obtaining my Engineering degree, I kept saving funds, collected my certificate, wrote my CDRs, attended some post graduate seminars and inaugural lectures, put together my CPD, summary statements, and CV, obtained my passport, gathered all the necessary documents, took the PTE once but couldn't get the required scores, and am now in the process of taking another PTE to proceed with my assessment. As you can see, all of this required years of patience and staying positive throughout the process. You will definitely get your invite if you don't give up along the way. Trust me when I tell you, nothing can stop you if you've come this far in the process. I tell you for free, never at any point give in to negative rumours or get distracted during the whole process once you've made up your mind to pursue your migration. As far as you are qualified, you have no reason to give up or get distracted. There will be many hurdles along the way no doubt, but stay true to yourself and remain focused. You will surely get what you want. Read about other peoples' testimonies and journey, you will discover that there is really so much hope for everyone. In life, nothing stays constant forever. There will always be changes, and you have to adapt to them. Just make sure you submit your expression of interest for all the visa classes and all states that you meet their requirements. Trust me, your invite will come like a dream. It will be one of your biggest surprises of all time. You won't even believe it yourself. Some people who got their invites today, waited for quite a long time. Others didn't even wait for long before getting their invites. That simply tells you that everyone's situation is different. Some persons' EOIs expired and they created new ones before finally getting invited. All of this requires patience and positive mindset. When you keep filling your mind with doubts due to discouraging words from others, you might lose the zeal to push to the end. But when you fill your mind with positive affirmations, you will gain the strength to remain patient for your invite. Life is turn by turn. When your time comes, you will receive your invite. Remember, older expression of interests will never be neglected; they will be attended to. That's why the sooner you get in the queue, the better. In all, believe me when I tell you, according to the law of gravity and economic principles, anything that goes up will definitely come down. This likewise applies to the Australia migration points system. No matter how competitive your occupation is, the points will eventually drop sooner or later, and when they do, will you be in the queue to benefit from it? To avoid had I known, it's better to stay in the queue. If your expression of interests expire, create new ones. At this juncture, I wish all of you in the process a big congratulations in advance, as I look forward to reading all of your success stories in the future.

This is definitely a season of grants. They are trying to clear all the backlogs. Grants are raining on Facebook. Go and see different testimonies. What I will advise everyone, don't be too fixated on visa 189 and 190 if your occupation is competitive. Visa 491 is as good as the rest. Keep an open mind. If you can't get any of those two other visas, with 75-80 points, you will definitely get 491. Just stay patient and motivated! You will get there. Your turn is coming.
