The title is not misleading . I read the entire post and Umahi simply said they won’t fund all existing road projects due to paucity of funds, instead they will give priority to roads that had already reached 80% completion.


So what happens to roads that they inherited but still on 50%, 60%, 70% completion stage ? They won’t be given priority no matter how important that particular road is .

But they can start a new coastal road that costs 15 trillion Naira Shey?

Speaking during a press conference on Friday, Umahi said he had been directed by President Bola Ahmed to review all projects in the country to decide those that would be given priority.
The minister, while stating the government was not considering dumping projects it inherited, clarified that projects that will be considered for funding would have reached 80 per cent completion.

“The Federal Executive Council has directed we should review the projects to availability of funds and make proposals to FEC. If such a project has attained about 80 per cent of completion, then we will make proposal to it for subsequent appropriation. When this money is made available, such project will be made a priority so that it will be completed

I really don’t know what point u are trying to prove. Anybody that read the full post surely could read that Umahi is saying out of the inherited projects, only those that have reached 80% completion will be given priority while others…… God knows what will happen to others.

He said priority will be given to project that are about 80% complete as soon as funds are released, meaning terrible roads like Benin/Okene will not be ignored since they are less than 80% completion. We also argue this during the coastal road debate here that other important Federal roads needing urgent repairs will be ignored because of their focus on the 15trillion naira Coastal road.
