I just left a retail shop opposite my house now to buy small provision and a man walked behind and asked me to help him buy tomato paste to cook with rice for his family.
He showed me the rice inside the nylon he held and I had to drop the balance with him .
Never in the history of this nation or in my over 40 years of existence has there been untold hardship like we have now not even during Abacha years of saw dust cooking stove or during IBB years of misrule.
It's so unfortunate 😞

Whether you remove subsidy or not, whether you build refineries or not, the set up is that we'll never enjoy the oil under our feet.

This fuel subsidies has opened my eyes to see that 98% percent of Nigerians are below average in smartness

Sadly I don't see this country growing time to liquidate my assets and move out

It is the repeated narrative from the media, the shape and mould the opinion of the public

I doubt it. The allocation being given to the tiers of government has geometrically increased.The neighboring countries like Cameroon,Niger, Republic of Benin have stopped enjoying our common wealth.
Subsidy removal is not the problem,'floatation' of Naira is what made things harder. Even at that,Tinubu had no option than to float Naira.

You have probably been so poor for majority of your forty years existence if you have never encountered people asking you to pay for them in superstores or expressly asking you for money around superstores. I have been doing this for over 20 years,long before the day of Shoprite. Coincidentally, I've been asked for similar donation around the world....in more than five countries at least. You gave someone change for tomato paste and you quickly jumped to nairaland at the age of forty to use that as a yardstick for hardship ? . Bro, you are a classical definition of a fool at forty

This is crap. The so called increment to the states is only because of the change in the dollar rate - which has pushed inflation and rendered that money meaningless.

And NO - there was NO need to float the naira - especially at the time it was done just one month after taking away the subsidy.

What was the monthly allocation of your state before removal and what is it after removal. Some states have their allocations increased by over 50% . If we have serious Governments at every level,this should translate to development.

You guys dibt get it...Naira was not floated. World Bank had debunked that since March 2024.....it was deliberately further devalued in Jan 2024 to attract foreing investors according to the Minister of Finance
