This is crap. The so called increment to the states is only because of the change in the dollar rate - which has pushed inflation and rendered that money meaningless.

And NO - there was NO need to float the naira - especially at the time it was done just one month after taking away the subsidy.
With $3.7b in foreign reserve ( according to Morgan's report) and crude oil that had been sold on advance, where did you expect him to get money to defend Naira as the time he assumed office?

I dont think you understand the difference in Nigeria in the last one year alone.

I have also supported people just like you mentioned for over 30 years. And yet I am aware that what is going on now in Nigeria has NEVER happened before.
Lies. Ask yourself this question...When the price of cement was 10 naira in the 80s, why didn't your father build a mansion ? Why were they still using mud houses? If you are above forty, you were in Nigeria in 1987 thereabout when teachers were not paid salaries for up to a year. Both my parents were teachers. We were the first to use telephone in the whole street..We were the first to buy VHS in.the whole area yet, we could no longer afford three square meal. When I finished secondary school, pounds was 18 naira. I got admission to canada. When I saw the school fees, I laughed like hyena because I knew there was nowhere my parent would get that money.Today, every idiot is in Canada and America studying for masters..Where is the money coming from? Why do you think the wife of Babangida started BETTER LIFE FOR WOMEN? Why do you think the wife of Abacha started FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM?

Nigerians have always been poor. Things are more expensive now doesn't mean people could afford it when it was cheap. Stop projecting everything as evil over your land..No one is saying things are not expensive. Nevertheless, it has been worse than this in time past . We only hope it will get better

How can NANS believe tinubu removed subsidies?

I would give anyone 10 million naira instantly if they can prove NNPC is not taking massive loose of minimum of ₦550 per litre to keep fuel at 700

This fuel subsidies has opened my eyes to see that 98% percent of Nigerians are below average in smartness

Sadly I don't see this country growing time to liquidate my assets and move out

I doubt it. The allocation being given to the tiers of government has geometrically increased. The neighboring countries like Cameroon,Niger, Republic of Benin have stopped enjoying our common wealth.
Subsidy removal is not the problem,'floatation' of Naira is what made things harder. Even at that,Tinubu had no option than to float Naira.

The reason it increased is due to devaluation of naira there's nothing special in subsidy removal. It didn't solve a single problem

1. The foreign reserve was NOT 3.7 BILLION.

2. There was NO need to float ithe naira at that time. It could have been pegged. That is what command economies who are import dependent must to to survive.

3. Not all crude has/had been sold in advance.

4. A country actually has the power to create sovereign funds and new currencies.

5. Floating the naira after removing the subsidy obviously increases the price of imported fuel which is bought in dollars - thereby taking away any benefit of the supposed subsidy removal. If you dont understand this, I cant help you.

The time bomb is ticking!

When it explodes, the Kenyan version would be a child's play.

Nigerians have been urged for the umpteenth time to be patient as things would soon get better.

Alas!

Rather than see amelioration of their pains, things are getting worse everyday.

For how long must the people endure this unprecedented hardship?

You have probably been so poor for majority of your forty years existence if you have never encountered people asking you to pay for them in superstores or expressly asking you for money around superstores. I have been doing this for over 20 years, long before the day of Shoprite. Coincidentally, I've been asked for similar donation around the world....in more than five countries at least. You gave someone change for tomato paste and you quickly jumped to nairaland at the age of forty to use that as a yardstick for hardship ? . Bro, you are a classical definition of a fool at forty
Another Tinubu cretin on the loose .
Keep defending your paymaster for a morsel after all, you have no business or any tangible job doing .

Over one year after the subsidy removal, we can't pinpoint any particular benefit this policy has brought to the country. It has rather been a precursor of serious economic hardships.
Is the trillions they're now paying in subsidy not an achievement? Tinubu deserves to be kicked out, but this is Nigeria

It makes certain that Nigeria is full of dafts and they only selected the worsts of the dafts to lead them when you read statements like this(bold). There were lots of choices open to the buffon other than "floating" devaluing the naira.

To start with, anyone who believes that the Naira was floated is not only myopic, but, completely out of touch with international economics to understand the true meaning of floating. Anyways, the World Bank have debunked the "floating" nonsense and have called it systemic devaluation(February 2024). Only a buffon would think that what happened in January 2024 when the Naira depreciated spyrally as floatation(when the CBN claimed, through I&E market, that there was a glitch in their method of calculating the exchange rate and as such the naira was overvalued so it was devalued further). The World Bank called this out, the mainstream media, still in the euphoria of "EMILOKONICS" were not keen to give that adequate headline. It was devalued to attract foreign investors to Nigeria, according to the Minister of Finance

There were lots of choices in June 2023, it was just that the senile one wanted to lay claim to an "emergent and brave reformer" and decided not to think deeper before implementing shortsighted advices. Their thoughts were that the exchange rate will hike up for some short while and return to 700/800ish......its now 1500ish and growing. They gambled and it failed woefully

Yorubas will say "Iku ya'ju esin".
Awolowo and Abiola didn't make it, and people still hold them in high esteem. Asiwaju as a champion didn't leave the field when the ovation was loudest, and everyone is throwing whatever it is to him everyday.
What did he build than propaganda? Imagine Tinubu taking the glory of my uncle pa jakande, who ruled in the 80s. He was still in Chicago that time oo.

Stop beating around the bush. If the removal of fuel subsidy by Tinubu is good, it would have reflected in the economy of the country. Cost of living rapidly increased in all the 36 states in Nigeria. So, what is your point?

GBAM!

They just devalued it because the IMF wanted them to.

EVEN TODAY, there is almost 40 Billion USD in the foreign reserve. If they inject 10 billion as an emergency measure into Nigeria, dollar will shaply reduce to 500 naira or less.

Meanwhile they dont even need to do that. Just peg it and that is that. The heavens will not fall, and nothing will happen. Tell IMF to fvuckoff.

Actually it achieved a lot for the our so-called political leaders. They generate quite a lot monthly and share amongst themselves. Tinubu has always been a tax collector. He knows reversing fuel subsidies will solve all this problems but he won't cos of selfish reasons.
