∆ Not cancel the state electoral commission or INEC but reform both so that credible and transparent elections are guaranteed.

In all honesty, without credible elections, forget development even in a 1000yrs
LOL.... So, it is no longer to remove SIEC from State hands but to reform it. Ok, in what way can SIEC be reformed and why would you need the Supreme Court to make that happen? undecided
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 5:36pm On Jul 13
Supreme Court should not ratify fraudulent elections.

Both INEC and SIEC should be reformed so that results are transmitted in real time and voting is by biometrics. I don't have all the answers but whatever is required to make votes count 100% should be done.

For cost management, INEC and SIEC can use same material like BVAS and IREV

So exactly what is stopping the Nigerian people from calling for these reforms today? undecided
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 6:12pm On Jul 13
Nigerians are calling for it alright but the political class knows they're unpopular so avoiding the reforms that would end their political careers.

I have a feeling that 2027 would be different. Any attempt to rig that election like 2023 will result in a revolution. There is likely to be a revolution before then due to Tinubu's abysmal performance

Please don't lie! Where are these Nigerians calling for it? Where is the evidence that these requests have been received by their representatives and senators? Where? Let's stop with these lies for Pete's sake! undecided
You say elections are rigged by Governors, yet to date, not a single record of a call for impeachment of any single governor by the state senators or reps. Why? undecided

2. See... it is 3 years before 2027, but rather than demand change now, most are waiting for 2027 to see what will happen. Imagine that nonsense? undecided

Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 6:26pm On Jul 13
Don't act like you're new in Nigeria.

The large majority of Nigerians are corrupt esp those benefitting from the status quo.

Its not as simple as you make it seems. The establishment is highly corrupt and unyielding....but something would eventually give

So why did you lie that Nigerians had in fact been calling for a reform of both INEC and SIEC? undecided

2. It is not simple even though they have never in fact attempted to do it. So, the Zombie people who do nothing at all are not at fault, it is always the highly corrupt and unyielding system that is always to blame? 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱 Abeg, make shame dey catch una small! 🥱🥱🥱🥱
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 6:41pm On Jul 13
Madam, was there no electoral reform in 2022 after Buhari refused to sign it for four times? What did INEC eventually do? Ignored the BVAS and IREV.

Did the Supreme Court not make a mockery of the reforms by saying INEC can choose whether to use the BVAS/IREV if they so wish?

Nigerians called for that electoral reform and were persistent before it was approved. I never said all Nigerians wanted it. We do not have that unity for good things.

Blacks cannot govern themselves. I said it, its the absolute truth and its genetic! grin

1. Please stop lying! Buhari did sign an electoral reform into Law, but what he signed has nothing to do with any of what you mentioned. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/513810-updated-finally-buhari-signs-amended-electoral-bill-into-law.html

2. You mean this very same BVAS/IREV or another one? undecided
https://punchng.com/how-bvas-irev-failed-first-elections-stress-test/

3. So, you let the political class come up with and then make demands on your behalf— demands they probably benefit the most from—, and when these demands fail, you blame the government? Come on now! undecided
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 8:17pm On Jul 13
Your first point shows you did not understand my previous comment.
There was electoral reforms in 2022 that Buhari signed after refusing it four times.

Yet, did the reforms of 2022 translate to credible elections? Absolutely not because INEC did not follow the spirit of the ammendment and the Supreme Fraud ratified their non-compliance

2. You said reforms are what the Nigerian people have been calling for. And here you now say that reforms that the people supposedly called for did not produce the magical results expected by the people. What do we then conclude from all of this? Is it that reforms do not solve anything at all? undecided
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 8:32pm On Jul 13
Nigeria cannot work!

It is not designed to work!

Let's restructure to a confederation or outright separation.

We cannot work as we are.

But you pretended all this while that reforms were the fix-all to the Nigerian problem. Now you finally admit that the people have always been part and parcel of the corruption and decay that is the system? Jeez! undecided
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 9:07pm On Jul 13
Reforms are enablers for good governance but ultimately the people are the ones to execute.

For instance, we said BVAS should be used and we know that if BVAS is used, it'll almost eliminate overvoting but BVAS cannot run itself, can it?

The people that is keeping Nigeria in the status quo are less than a thousand while the rest of Nigerians are too divided to defeat them.

Nigeria is screwed!

So, all this time you have known all of this yet you took to wasting our time mentioning reforms, the design of Nigeria, etc. Why did you think spending all this time ranting about the wrong things would matter? undecided
Re: LGA Autonomy: Much Ado About NOTHING by DMerciful(m): 9:20pm On Jul 13
Can two walk if they don't agree?

The protest you're calling for will not be successful unless it leads to a revolution.
Revolution comes at a terrible short term cost but overall long term gain.

Are we ready for it?

2. I didn't call for a protest. I simply said Nigerians should use their place in the country to their benefit. Seems to me that Nigerians are content with the system as is. No place for a revolution in such a situation. undecided
