Infinity FX35 08/09 Vs Acura RDX 08/09 On Typical Lagos Roads by Henadek(m): 8:36pm On Jul 13
Hi bosses

I am contemplating getting the Fx35 vs Rdx for 2008 to 2010 majorly because I don't want a full sized suv. Tired of using sedan cars because of the crazy lagos roads that are so bumpy especially in this rainy season. It's just not making sense anymore driving a sedan on these bad roads. Hence my thoughts on these options. I am also considering the Honda Crosstour, but I am not so sure about the ground clearance of the car compared to the fx35 and rdx. I would've considered the lexus rx350 but it's just too common for my liking.

Please let me know your thoughts from your personal experiences. And feel free to suggest any other car make you feel fits the crossover suvs within the price range of the fx35 and rdx for years 2008 - 2010.

I'll advise to go for the fx35, I love the fx35 more than the rdx because of its build, sportier drive, very inviting frame, solid V6 engine, the acura rdx is TURBOCHARGED i4 engine 🤮, the rdx has more ground clearance (your reason for wanting an SUV), more space for cargo and even seating, you can deviate a little from the manufacturer recommended Tyre size if you want a real suv experience by going with the FX35 (to fix the ground clearance issue)
User reports say the rdx is more reliable, I'm not a big fan of this particular model of ACURA, turbocharged and I4, that's an inflated delicate sedan man lol, I wonder how it moves when you have two non skinny Nigerian women at the back and a few baggage in the trunk 🤔.
With a solid V6 like in the fx35, you should never have ac issues as long as the compressor is concerned (will take any compressor with joy), turbo worries will be strange stories to you, and your engine will last longer, the bigger the engine, the slower the wear, my belief, as far as there's no major manufacturer defect warranting recall. I hate the idea of SUVs with i4s, the bare minimum should be a 6.

Nice breakdown, I was leaning towards the Rdx because I heard the reliability is good and availability of spare parts. But with your take on this, I think the fx35 is beating up rdx o lol.
Funny story, speaking about 2 non skinny women at the back, I experienced this in my civic on a very bad road that was flooded. That was when I knew I'm done with a sedan lol.

What do you think about the spare parts of the fx35 in terms of availability and price when compared to the rdx and maintenance routine?

Its a Nissan, the vehicles have been around for so long, surely you'll find most of the new or used parts you need even in states like osun or Ekiti, fx 35 isn't an uncommon SUV, not to mention lagos, the biggest hub of parts sellers.
Look at Hyundais and Kia vehicles, people were screaming parts availability when these vehicles came into the Nigerian market, many years after and the talk is still alive, even as there are many Hyundai and Kia vehicles on Nigerian roads today.
In my opinion, the talk about parts availability is only valid if you're talking Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, these vehicles are not within the reach of even the middle class, thus, they're not often junked and manufacturers are not very motivated to remanufacture vital parts like blown engine or transmission.
Lastly, if you do buy the rdx turbo, getting a seasoned private investigator to give you reports on the expertise of any mechanic you'll trust with the pretender SUV will pay off.
Acura makes great vehicles, there are reports of this particular model serving owners for ages, and those reports included using premium gas (we sabi as e dey go for Naija na 🙄) and complaints of Turbo lag.
The fx35 will not have you listening and wary of all the sounds coming from under your bonnet, you'll not have the ever constant turbo worries of the rdx, you'll get an SUV experience, again, a V6 is like a tank compared to an I4, a tricycle (no matter the modifications to boost performance).
If power isn't coming from the engine only, I don't want it, this is a vehicle that'll be expected to serve the owner for years and not some racing vehicle that's expected to only survive a few rides, too much engineering equals low reliability, Sarafa d mecho in your street will most likely hide when your Turbocharged vehicle is sighted from afar.
Say no to Turbocharged engines, especially in this part of the world, and always remember you're buying a 14yr old vehicle even as it is "TOKUNBO", the vin check will not tell you how greatly maintained it was, not being in an accident or flood isn't enough, if it has a delicate part which is not eaasily serviceable and or very expensive to replace, then it is wise to stay away, good luck 👍🏾.
